If you think about the music on its own then I agree with you. The back-up girls are incredibly annoying, but from a theatrical point of view, if you take into account the context of the play it works. Because they are trying to show the pretentiousness of the lives of filthy rich people, its all one big facade with people trying to be Westernised and failing MISERABLY at it- so it helps the storyline
