Man Mick this is so vital for all of us greenhornes to play the C6th out of E9th.Man you got all the bases covered.....from the land of many thanxsss....Mark
This has always been one of my favorites! That song made me want to learn steel guitar back in 1987 when I was 10 years old...I've managed to learn to play almost all stringed instruments since then, but the steel guitar still scares the heck out of me...looks so foreign. Glad I found your vids, I'm gonna be checking them out over the next few weeks I'm sure, see if I can build up the courage. Thanks for sharing the love and the talent, brother.
Great tips, Mickey. A question: I have a GFI (E9 only) with only the LEFT knee lever. How much am I missing by not having a RIGHT knee lever? Appreciating your view. Chris in Miami
Daviocc...Your limited in some ways, mainly by the number of chord forms you can construct, and alter in any stationary position with the bar. The GFI is an al pull chnager, and levers can be added fairly easily. If you want to expand the boundaries of your guitar, I would definately look into adding some more. And if the guitar you have gives you the sound you want, keep it and equip it!......Thanks for tuning in, and posting...Mckey
Thanks Mickey for sharing the fruit of your labor..nice to see someone eager to give back. I'm inspired to get my old Sho-bud out of the closet after 30 years and give it another shot. Keep 'em coming...somebody's watching, learning and enjoying them.
Wow, half an hour ago I was jamming to this tune on GTA: San Andreas while performing a sadistic drive-by in a stolen Monte Carlo, and now I'm learning the mechanics of the intro on Youtube. Well I'll be a blue-nosed gopher!
I've tried steel about 30 years ago. If you were around then, I might have stuck with it. You're a great teacher and picker. Keep up the fantastic work!
George L TW E9th & PF1 C6th, 9+8, sealed stainless steel bearings on all cross shafts, peg head & changer mechanism. I see that Mullens are now using bearings on their new G2, is this correct? I've been using sealed bearings for about 4 or 5 years. The body is a hard rock maple and aluminium composite, making it very strong, the cabinet drop is vertually zero (0-2 cents max)everything on it is either stainless steel or aluminium (anodized or polished) Dave.
Yeah, Mullen went to bearings with the RP a few years ago. The G2 incorporates the same. I have some cabinet drop but nothing that is unmanageable. The G2 does not have the center rail assembly like the HWP or RP. Del said it didnt need it, and it saves on weight. All in all Im really happy with the guitar...Its a nice ride.....Mickey
Great vids, keep 'em comming Mickey. I called in to see bass tutor last week and told me to look you up if I get chance, when my wife and I come to Las Vegas for our holiday. Best wishes, Dave (UK)
