fresnosk8r; Carbs can easily be tuned for high altitude, but the problem we used to have was the floats in the bowls sticking and wearing. That's where fuel injection is nice. For doing water stuff like this we would always have a snorkel on the carb to keep the water out.
@verdemanthe1 why wouldnt a baja float? theyre lighter than stock and nothing that makes it watertight is gone. you have to modify a stock bug a little to make it float though, theres a hole in each floorboard meant to drain out water and a couple holes in the front of the body for wires to go through that may not be so water tight depending on the condition of the grommets in them
@metalisawsom3 when you take off the front end to make it a baja it opens up to those holes that let in water same with the rear they float but not as long as stock
2 inch pvc hooked on top of the carb with a hose clamp air filter on top of that works fine may want to shoot a bead of silicone anound it

carbs arent the best for bajas because if you take it up into the mountains at high elevation the carbs cant function right due to lack of oxygen
