  • Aside from her being a musical genius, yoko kanno just seems like she's an amazing person to be around, every video i see her in she looks like she's a lot fun .

  • I am not really a fan of anime, but I absolutely fell in love with Cowboy Bebop mainly due to Yoko Kanno's attention to detail and amazing compositions for the entire series. The music was definitely what made the show stand out to me. This performance is amazing.

  • the best memory of high school & undergraduate

  • When those fingers touch those keys it's like magic.

  • I love the ELM opening :') it's an amazing arrangement...no words can't describe

  • actually can someone tell me the exact song at 2:33? i have the discography but dont know off the top of my head which one it is!

  • @sofymo the song at 2:33 its "The Singing Sea"

  • @davidmfra no, i dont think so :S i love The Singing Sea but that doesn't sound anything like it at all.

  • @sofymo

well i listened to it again, its ELM, check it: watch?v=YR4TDBXebWc

    sorry for the mislead!

  • 2:33 and on to 3:40 is amazing

  • Yoko is amazing, for her arrangements. Many people write good melody but not all write good arrangement.

  • I must know what song is being played at 2:30! The part when it hits 2:44 just breaks me every time! I've honestly never felt the same way about a piece of music.

  • @squeezemahlemon

    ELM - cowboy bebop OST

  • This song sounds a lot like Autumn from The Seasons!

  • Song @ 4:20???

  • @CloudxChaos69 The song actually starts at 4:00. It's called Green Bird. They play it when Spike has flash backs as he falls out the window of a cathedral.

  • Is this Yoko Kanno playing?

  • many colors, images, tastes, lights, feelings flow in my mind when i heard her music

  • Yoko Kanno is truly amazing!

  • wow! look at those jazz hands!

  • whats the name of the first song she plays?

  • @ilyktosk8 It's called the singing sea. It's played at the beginning of session 10 ganymede elegy. It's a very cool piano jazz version that was never released on any of the soundtracks. I'm so glad I finally found this!

  • @ayafujimiya19

It was actually on ONE of the soundtracks 9(as others have commented), but it was a limited release in 2002 so it's out of print now. The "Cowboy Bebop Boxed Set" comes with 4 CDs and minidisc. The fourth CD is all live recordings, including this exact solo. The whole set also includes dialogue tracks (in Japanese) from throughout the series, interspersed chronologically with the music.

It's one pretty amazing collection! This is one of my favorite tracks from the whole thing.

  • Anyone know the song starting around 4:00? I think it's from Cowboy Bebop.

  • @000DNJ its actually all from cowboy bebop and the title of the song is in the description. It's called Green bird.

  • her music calms me down.

  • Watch in 1911 mode...

  • Que mujer tan más "cabrona" jojojojojoj

  • 2:31 frikin amazing

  • @snametz it elm. in the show this is sung. here is where its at its best. every time i hear this my heart sinks a little. dont know why it just messes with me (in a good way i guess) I probably owe my affinity for piano music to yoko kanno. got me downloading eric satie and anything i could get my hands on that was just piano.

  • Did anybody known if this song version is in her discography?

  • @DBKriss It's featured as part of The Seatbelts releases, on the albums Vitaminless and Future Blues, as per my library and what of The Seatbelts and Yoko Kanno I have.

  • @breakawaybrockway stella by moore. the description says it.

  • @breakawaybrockway it's called Farewell Blues, and it's on the third OST "Blue"

  • @flamingspinach

No it's really called Piano solo, and it's a mix of different themes.

  • @kaos310031 Please read the comment I was responding to.

  • @flamingspinach

No it's really called Piano solo, and it's a mix of different themes it appears in the limited CD Box released with 4 cd's and it's the 9th track of 4th CD.

  • Can someone link me a midi file of this for piano plz

  • when I was watching the series the piece didn't stand out cause of the counter tenor. however this live version is one of the greatest things ever recorded. shame about the quality, I have a really good stereo and it shows up more warts than id like. in the recording of course. there is NOTHING wrong with yoko's piano.

  • She sure can play a piano, she is great! I didn't know that she could do it THAT good!

She also seems to be such a cool girl, I would love to know her.

  • I am so glad I found this! ty for uploading

  • Awesome.

  • Yoko Kanno is such and inspiration to my own music. I would truly appreciate any comments on my achievements so far! Thanks!

  • She conjures up so many memories of the show in one go. I get a little misty thinking about it...

  • This appears in the Earthgirls Are Easy CD. I have it as part of the limited edition Cowboy Bebop OST. There are four disks in all, and is interspersed with Japanese language dialogue from the Japanese language series.

Right around 1:30, and around 5:00, bits of it remind me of Gershwin's American in Paris. It might be Yoko Kanno's homage to the well known American jazz composer. She's a wonderful composer, and I'm glad I came across her stuff. Ace.

  • You know I was also reminded of Gershwin when I first heard, especially the parts you talk about. Rhapsody in Blue is the greatest.....

    (segue over)

This is great stuff, needless to say.

  • lol it reminded me of chick corea

i can definitely see the gershwin, how cool, i hadnt noticed it before, thanks guys :)

  • great, so great..i want see live !!! ^^

  • so much memories on one single shoot

when i die im sure i will hear green bird

  • make an video no??

  • no words, makes me cry, damn life can be beautiful.

  • I feel so relaxed now. Life is good isn't it?

  • @vicepresidentfru1tly

and to think that I've been listening to seatbelts for so long time and only today I've listening to this piano solo.

    Life sure is good.

is it for the songs used or for this live version?

would you be so kind to link me to where you got yours?

  • Wonderful! Why can't I play like that? :(

  • Were do you find the sheet music of what he is doing??? I want to hear it again. but like, in person.

  • First off its a she. Yoko Kanno is a composer, arranger and musician best known for her work on many soundtracks for anime (including Please Save My Earth), computer games, live-action films, TV shows and commercials. Lead member of THE SEATBELTS. Google to find more and good luck.

  • Most of the music here is from the score to Cowboy Bebop, a well-regarded anime from about ten years back. The music is phenomenal and you can find recordings on youtube and the official soundtrack all over the internet.

  • I have seen the series, and have been searching for a month. I can't find anything on the sheet music...

  • Can`t help with the sheet music so ... best of luck to you then.

  • ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL

yoko is the best composer ever...

  • omg nice

  • amazing 5/5

  • yoko is the best! i cant believe cowboy bebop is over :(

  • some crew is working to make a real film of cowboy bebop....just wait and see ;)

  • Cowboy Bebop was over 10 years ago.....and her music still bumps.

Bebop OST + GITS:SAC OST = Best of Kanno Yoko

If Bandai is even dreaming of a third season of Ghost...she damn well better be in it or I ain't watching.

  • yoko is the best!!!!!! i cant believe coeboy bebop is over :(

  • I did know Yoko for her awesome band The Seatbelts (who made the OST of Cowboy Bebop....waouh....incredibly good!!!), but what I didn't know, is that she was so good at piano!!!

  • yoko kanno is awesome!!

  • amazing, yoko kanno is her name right?

  • yep

  • she is definitely my favorite modern pianist.

  • The beginning of elm.. :°°°|

  • Incredible.... Simple and clear but spontaneous at the same time... And somehow watching her play adds so much to the music.

  • Yoko Kanno is a composer, arranger and musician best known for her work on many soundtracks for anime (including Please Save My Earth), computer games, live-action films, TV shows and commercials. Lead member of THE SEATBELTS.

  • Doesn't even need words just............. play yoko play music speaks for itself

  • There really needs to be way more Yoko Kanno stuff on the internet. Like a huge fan site or something.

  • haha, i THINK i get what you mean...

  • I totally love her music... Simply awesome... Would love to see them live T__T

  • Piano Bar ftw. Awesome.

  • the ELM was absolutely beautiful!!

  • The piano version of ELM is SOOOO much better than the original version.

  • I'm agree with you. The only word that can describe this adaptation is PERFECT.

  • omg nice

  • Come on guys(and girls) lets just enjoy this piece of music(if it is music to u, well it is for me)

  • a true hh lover always speaks true

  • Omg Yoko Kanno is a genius.

The more I listen her songs the more i love her and the Cowboy Bebop universe

  • She seems to go "somewhere" with every musical phrase, that is a gift.

  • So Kanno has lots of sheet music im well aware of.. but would the begining of this be in sheet music? This is probably the most beautiful blues piece i have ever heard..

Ur help would be greatly appreciated!

  • 5/5

  • Awesome!

  • I admire Kanno more as a composer than as a performer. For such a small person, she sure is a pretty good pianist (some of you may not know that people with small hands have a harder time; I have tiny hands and for that reason I can't play, say, Rachmaninov). Instead of just criticizing her playing, why not appreciate the beauty of her compositions?

  • chill man - just appreciate it.

  • that was a reply to whoever's been hurling insults at her playing.

  • Then why didn't you use the reply button? <_<

  • Because then I'd have to hit reply way too many times.

  • Well now I feel kinda special. So sweet of you to reply to me.

  • Impresionante

  • nice

  • I agree with nicko64c. Yoko Kanno's music itself is far better than her own performance. Yoko Kanno is one of the most talented people on Earth nowadays. Her music touches me along with Tchaikovsky's and Rachmaninov's.

  • I don't know about best of an era, a century, or any of that

I just love her music and think that she's simply fantastic

  • I agree, she's the best composer of this century.

  • mozart was historically an egotistical jerk, so no, i don't think he would have enjoyed this.. :P

  • we both cant say either way really

  • so beautiful!!!

  • Wow.. I almost shed a tear. Beautiful. ^_^

  • 5/5 nice composition, especially the 4th minute

  • 5/5

  • I'm sorry, I like Yoko Kanno, her music is very soothing, but I would not call her a "Mozart of our time". I would at least give a good listen to Bill Evans or Keith Jarrett before making such a bold statement. It is very clear where she got her inspiration from.

  • no, im sure mozart would be astounded at her performance. you have to understand volatility.

  • no, I have to agree with T. The main joy that you get out of this are the memories that the playing pulls out from the series/soundtrack. Each individual song is by far much better than this rendition. Any true fan should accept at least that. Kanno IS an amazing composer, but she's no concert pianist--granted, it's a bad recording.

  • And I hardly know to what volatility you are referring, R. Hashing together some songs with ridged hesitations b
