I LOVE HOW SHE CAN LAUGH ABOUT IT.. gosh thats amazing.. i was in labor for only 5 1/2 hours and only pushed for 45 minutes.. but i have to say i've never imagined it would be anything close to that bad.. i had no smile on my face not once when i was in labor and it just amazes me how she can.. FRICKIN CHAMP*
Babies' heartbeats are much faster... 140-160 or higher, while an adults is more around 70-80ish. And yes, contractions, labor... all of it hurts like nothing you can imagine or ever prepare for, but the reward is just as immense. I had two epidurals, and both failed, and the baby was taken out with forceps after 2 hours of pushing and 18 hours of labor. Kidney stones don't hold a candle to the kind of pain that comes with having a baby... not to scare you or anything... lol.
That's so very true. I have never felt a pain like childbirth. And no matter what people tell you, you can never be fully prepared because once it happens it's like, "How could I have known!" (which is, incidently, one of the things I said.) But it isn't a scary pain because you know exactly why you are hurting and you know it's not because you are injured or sick. They say its a pain of necessity and that is the best way to describe it and the best way to put one's mind at ease about the pain.
wht the FUCK!? um, i'm never having a baby. and if what u said is true, then why do people have 2, 3, 4, 5, 6++ babies, and plus, none of my cousins or AUNTS ever tell me it hurt. only my mom because she's controlling and uses it to control us
Well, different people view the pain of labor differently. Some people have it in their minds they would not be able to handle it and therefore, can't. So they elect to have c-sections or spinals. Some people think of it as a sort of rite-of-passage or challenge and choose to meet it head on and those people (as long as there are no medical reasons dictating otherwise) choose not to use any type of pain-relief and just deal with it. It's not as bad as people tell you when you know you can do it.
I know that.. it just seems fast even for a baby.

Everytime I have an intense Braxton hicks contraction, I laugh... It hurts but it kinda tickles in a way... it's weird...
Well, I'm 38 weeks and 6 days today, 2cm dilated and 50% effaced... already lost my mucus plug, so let's hope he comes out soon!!!

is that the heart beat in the background?, if it is, its a bit fast isnt it? although, i suppose, your heart beat does go up with pain.

It's the baby's heartbeat and he was fine. Mind you, 26 hours after labour started, she gave up and the consultant whipped her in for a c-section.
