We've done a lot of field testing on mtn bikes with the iPhone in a RAM® cradle, on pretty rough terrain (including a number of crashes). We have not seen any issues with damage to the phone as long as it isn't impacted directly.
Yes, definitely! Just create a new waypoint, then use the "GoTo" feature to navigate back. MotionX-GPS tells you the distance, bearing, and ETA to your destination (based on current speed of travel).
I liked the free version so much I bought the full version not long after I downloaded it. Great stuff, it was $2.99 and to get a full featured GPS for that little money was just unbelievable.
Uploading your track on google earth and being able to mail is very cool. I have been using the free lite version for walking trails and walking to work. Then I save and follow new tracks. Try to beat old time, and or find best routes. Nice video, The iphone and apps are all I need pretty well to do anything.
I already own MotionX GPS lite and it is awesome!! This video is really cool to. That bike mount looks nice com paired to the one I have. I hope the Gps full version comes out soon. Great stuff MotionX!
This technology is very promising. The iphone is such a freaking versatile device it's about time we have robust apps that make other specialized stand alone devices obsolete. I have the old free version of this app and it rocks. Does this mean a paid for real version is here (don't see it on the app store yet).
this is awesome! makes me want to go out for a run. i like the way you can save a track, and view it on a map (the last shot).
i'm wondering whether i can send the saved track via e-mail (or whatever) to view off of my device? can i view it on my PC with standard software? or is it only for use within the iphone app?

if you do a lot of jumps (like from a pavement or mountain riding) or drop your bike - will the phone itself survive from the blow/shocks ?
