  • That sucks

  • GOD HATES THE JAPANESE!!!! lol jk

  • Simple things called lightning rods, they provide a place for the lightning to enter and then leave the plane, the current just passes through as if it was just wire. Buildings also have these rods, look at any moderately tall building, you may see them running down the side of the exterior walls. My old school has them.

  • Iam a aircraft structures mechnanic and ligntning strikes are so common that there are standard repairs for these in the structure repair manuals.

  • Wow...That is HORRIFYING yet truly amazing. That just comes to show that anything can happen in this world.

  • SWEET

  • I'd be crapping my pants if I was on that plane.

  • Amtrak doesn't Fly

  • hyty

  • Baha plane ate it then crapped it out :D

  • cool, the inspection after lightning strikes sucks

  • lightning rules

  • This ROCKS......................

  • nice Did you know the people on that plane didnt feel a thing or even know that they were hit by lightning =]

  • If you look the lightning didnt strike the plane you can see the lightning is connected together a few feet from the plane.

  • @FloydRoseDiscovery A few feet from the plane, huh? Your must have some kind of magic eyeballs to see that. You must have got them from the same place that creates all the bullshit that your feeding to everyone else.

  • @sidesjeremy You can sit there and see the lighting connect. If it hit the plane it wouldnt connect, you fucking retard

  • @FloydRoseDiscovery Are you fucking blind or just completely dependent with online attention? Going at normal speed you can clearly pause it at 0:59 and see that it hit the forward section of the jet and traveled through then came out the tail section. What makes you sound really stupid is the fact that they slow the footage down at the end and you can see even clearer where the plane was hit. Yeah, I'm the fucking retard all right. Think your so fucking tough behind a keyboard. LOSER!!!!!!

  • If I was in that plane I would be like SHIIIIIT

  • XXzone you seem to misstate something in your description of this video. It is obvious that this aircraft did not evade lightning but was struck by it. They evade lightning by waiting to take off or flying around lightning producing storms instead of through them. Aircraft don't have pockets to channel lightning but do have static dischargers on trailing edges that dissipate it. There would have been some damage to the aircraft skin at point of entry from this strike. Thanks for the video.

  • Nice vid, love flying ANA, really first class airline

  • Amazing. And to the people calling this fake: you are VERY wrong. I just saw this on The Discovery Science channel, thats how I knew this video existed. I was amazed. The show was called Lightning When Nature Strikes Back. It was caught by airport cameras as well, jerks. so its not fake. Thanks for puttin this up!

  • woah

  • wow imagine that in a biplane!

  • @MrChrisBlizzard it's not fake, and to back it up, 2 camels in a tiny car

  • And the passengers would have not knowen a thing, Inface they would have only seen a flash of light and would of been none the wizer that it truch the plane. Awesome vid..nice post!

  • Yeah, and stupidity soldiers wonder why a 3.5v cellphone won't penetrate the faraday shielding that takes two 60,200 lb thrusts to move it at cruise .... lol nwo, it's more like no-world-order

  • Wow Slow Takeoff on Damp Runway,Amazing!

  • 5 Stars!

  • That was super cool! 5 sparkling stars

  • That was super cool!

  • A Faraday cage...cool...

  • read the description!!!!!!!

  • jjj

  • Is not an idiot. The pilot's ordered to fly, and that's all. The weather in this scene is not bad.

  • You're obviously the idiot here for being blind. That was not a bad storm to fly in.

  • I'm sorry that I don't now crap about flying a plane. No way in hell I'm be up in the sky in a thunder storm.

  • that is cooooool

  • beautiful shot

  • Quit asking so many fucking questions and read the description dumbass.

  • Nice and easy reply.....

  • lol

  • shutup!!

  • What the hell is that noise in the background? Is this being filmed from inside a bottling plant?

  • what i dont understand is why somebody decided to just randomly film the takeoff of a plane and by some coincidince lightning struck the plane the day the decided to randomly film a plane takeoff. Im not saying the video is fake but its just and odd coincidince.

  • It's a motion sensitive security camera that monitors planes take-off and land. It's recordings is because it follows motions (the aircraft) designed to monitor aircraft take-off + land.

This is what they got in their recording it's not a coincidence it's technology at it's finest monitoring aircraft activity.

  • @xxzone1 Come on man. Don't make up bullshit.

  • @xxzone1 and actually the lightning wasn't "harmless" it's because the plane isn't grounded the lightning can't do any damage to the plane if it's not grounded

  • does that look fake to you? i dont think so. i mean why cant it be a coincidence? stfu and give it a 5 sicko

  • @BBGH2onExpert I agree

  • @BBGH2onExpert coz alot of people going it even in the clear weather how about weather like that it's not odd it's normal and the light doesn't affect the aircraft

  • the real reason i didnt stop was because planes arent grounded and planes are made to allow lighting to strike it...my dad is a pilot

  • Fucking Iot ''MODERN PLANES''Dumb Ass

  • Hey you experts, try googling Pan Am 214

  • That was also almost 50 years ago. While no plane is foolproof, obviously there's been many improvements since then.

  • completly agree with lostsoldier1967

  • Jets can be hit by lighting there are grounding straps all over the body of the plane so as to prevent the lighting from going through critical areas such as the fuel tank ! The engines keep going because they don't need any power to keep them functioning only when starting. but the EMP pulse would mess with the avionics for a few seconds though !

  • amazing it was still going

  • you know why? because they have small lightning directors all over the body and keeps the current away from important places on the aircraft such as the engines.

  • it's not amazing. planes will stay in the air but get messed up for a bit. for the reason it stayed up, please look at pjm5678's comment

  • they dont usually get messed up as far as I know... isnt this correct? Unless there's a severe problem with the plane i think they're fine.

  • "The camera is operated by robot"...LMAO!!

Are you serious? A jumpy, jittery robot placed strategically behind a building? lol

  • Dude.. nevermind.

You don't understand anything you little immature retarded kid. If you don't like the video DON'T WATCH IT.

    Do you understand that?

People are so retarded nowadays what's up with that, what's up with you? Morons these days wow... you obviously know nothing about airports I swear. There are motion camera's that do video tape flights, people, cars, everything that comes by when it has the time.

Gosh you're so stupid saying stuff you don't know...........

  • Comment removed

  • Wow.. It doesn't get much more obviously hand held then that. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you have enough sense to realize that camera is in someone's hand.. I hope you are saying otherwise in an attempt to get a rise out of people..

Don't get me wrong I believe the video is real, but that camera is being aimed at that plane by a person. You can even hear the rustling sound a camcorder makes when being held by hand.

  • @xxzone1 hand helled.

  • If you weren't shocked by the lightening striking the plane and it's an everyday thing for you, why did you feel the need to put it on youTube?

  • Some people don't see these things every day. It's nice to show people what is out there in the world. And to show people how advanced our technology is to even take the strike of a lightening bolt, and still be unharmed.

  • i agree, and thanks for posting it.

you know, im not afraid of flying but i feel a bit reassured by this video!

  • Planes can indeed handle lightning strikes but this partcular one is a fake. I say this because,as I said, the camera person is not phased at all by the onlly lightening strike happening to hit the plane.

  • Not everyone is a jumpy person. Some people are used to it?

You have no idea what storms are like in North Carolina, lightening strikes in your front yard, you hear the booms the cracks. You get used to it.

And I don't care if you think this video is fake, I can reassure you this video is 100% real, maybe you watch too much fake stuff I don't know, but it's you're opinion to feel the way you do. I'm just letting you know, this video clip is not fake.

  • Dude don't get so wound-up. Myself I think the video is authentic, and I also wouldn't get startled by a lightning bolt on a rainy day. But the message is, my boy, that not all people are the same, so if you choose to post a video you have to be able to handle criticism.

  • Is not a camera person. The camera is operated by robot, as in every international airport. They're motion activated. The video is real.

  • If this video isn't fake then how come the camera person doesn't even seem phased by it AT ALL?

  • Planes can handle being hit by lighting a few times.

  • Wow, the camera is robotically active. The purpose of the camera is to keep surveillance over every passing jet for if something bad were to happen there would be evidence on the camera that could help figure out what happened.

  • what happened after that!?...

  • that is scary.... i would have been scared on that plane.... it aint safe to fly during a t-storm, lol

  • Spooky stuff I agree.
