You are an idiot! Feminism will never be a good thing because many people have different definitions and therefore no one has a concensus on the one concept. Also you are an idiot with your examples because so-called oppression against women is relative to the culture that you live in. Do YOU LIVE IN CULTURE where the clitoris is cut off. No! So let that culture be. I'm sure it has practiced those behaviors long before you were born. You people are always trying to civilize people to your ways!
Even though I may disagree with your points, I would not call you an idiot because I belive that every human being has inherent worth. Other points you make may be valid.
I don't want to "civilize" anyone. I can tell you, most women would really miss their clitoris if they suddenly lost it, just like you would miss your penis. There are women in cultures who cut who are begining to speak out against this practice. I've watched documentaries about how women are talking about how they wish they were not cut. How they don't want their daughters to experience what they lost. They will be the ones to end this practice, not me.
You Western women are so arrogant! You people think you can conform everyone to your ways! Secondly, is your' so-called feminism about so-called "women's rights," which is actually oppression AGAINST MEN, or are you simply talking about changing the standards of women who do not live according to your wester-white standards of being?
Wester-white standards of being...dude, I'm basing my position on things women who live in cultures where clitorises are being cut have said themselves.
Currently there are a lot of women (and children) being trafficked and sold into prostitution. The women who are being sold come from very impoverished countries. They are black, white, latino, hispanic, etc. This is another reason I think feminism is necessary. (Men get trafficked too, but the majority of trafficked people are women and children.)
You are proving that you do not support equality; you support a different form of oppression. The "principle" should be standing agaist the trafficking of "people," since there is no respect of persons, one from another. You admit that all types of people are trafficked, however, you place more importance on the well-being of "certain" types of people, over others. Western oppression, you people are the masters of this stuff!
You video implies a great many things that I do not agree with. For instance, you imply that men tend to be disrespectful of women and that the converse is not prevalent. Wrong.
To discuss the video, we would have to selct 1 sentence, pick out each thing you imply and discuss if each is true.
You talk about women's issues, but you don't even mention men's issues. This is the sort of arrogance that is at the heart of what is wrong with feminism.
You say that it is arrogant that I talk about womens issues in this video without mentioning mens issues. Throughout the video I keep saying that both men and women should be treated with respect. I made this video to argue my point why feminism is still needed today as a response to the videos by Wisdomthroughlogic who argues that it is no longer needed.
The issues that I talked about in this video are directly related to the issues Wisdomthroughlogic initially brought up. He never talked about mens rights in his videos, thus I did not include them in my response to him.
I could talk about how I believe that something should be done about battered men, and custody issues, and child support issues however that is for another video. I cannot make that video until I do enough research on the subject so that I can throw some good facts behind the statement why I support the goals the mens rights movement is fighting for.
Feminism has everything to do with female rights, not equality. Feminist, the ones that actually pass laws, don't care about men, homosexuals, or transexuals. Feminism is flawed because it's assumed that there is a solid definition for "social equality", which pretty much every feminist belives in, if they don't, they are not feminists. If feminism was about equality, why are they not humanists? Why is there a need for equality feminists if they are already about equality? I am not a feminist.
NOW the national organization for women (a feminist organization) says that they do care about LGBT rights. While there may not be a solid definition for equality there is a simple definition for equality all people have access to the same basic opportunities. The way I see it, I am a humanist and a feminist. I believe that women should have equal opportunities as should the rest of humanity. You say you are not a feminist. May I ask what problems you have with womens rights?
Womens rights has nothing to do with equality. How many pieces of legislation has NOW actually fought for? How many laws got passed? If you are fighting for female rights, you are fighting for privilige. Rape is illegal, voting for all is legal, discrimination is illegal, abortion is legal, what more do feminists need?
What legislation are you talking about that so called feminists rally for? I believe feminism is still necessary because in parts of the world women could still get murdered if they were raped for bringing dishonor to their families. In other parts of the world women still get their clitorises cut off and their vagina lips sewed together with a needle. If it really a privilege to ask that women in nations where things like that happen be aloud to live their lives?
Ok, well I am talking about in the U.S. I think it's a bad idea to spread feminism to other countries because feminism isn't nessisary to make legislation and, as I said before, feminism is innately flawed. Child protective services that violate civil rights. There are no federally funded health institutions for men because feminists have effectively crushed any effort to allow men to have it. Feminism officially authorized murder by supporting abortion legislation, such love and compassion...
You don't need feminism to make great laws in our country or any other, secular humansim, in my opinion, should be the only thing people need for human rights issues. Feminism did some great things but not in the last 40 years, it's all about women's rights. It's about oppression of rights for men and not caring about gays or transexuals, but recruit them regularly for financial support under false pretenses.
Under ideal circumstances womens rights and mens rights would unite under the flag human rights. Some things the mens rights movement talks about makes sense. Issues dealing with child custody, domestic violence are a no brainier as men are being discriminated against in those areas. That being said, women are also still not being treated fairly in parts of the world. Because the mens movement focuses on men, someone still has to fight against the injustice against women.
Right, but you don't need feminism, if feminism goes away tomorrow, there will still be civil rights activists, humanists, and humanitarians that address the issues of both genders without bias, unlike feminism. Even with feminism in another country, you might get rid of the immidiate problems of gender differences but you create more problems in the future. Besides, some of those countries are so destitute, there is no way around the corruption, slavary, misery, war, and famine.
One more thing and I am done for now, with the current Men's Rights Movement, what the feminists are doing to men can happen from the men in these movements. Perhaps not now but if the Men's Rights Movement gets too much support, thats why I am leery of the Men's Rights Movement and stay on the side of secular humanism.
Can you please point me to the direction of information where I can see for myself which feminist groups blocked legislation which would allow for mens health services. I agree with you that child protective services sometimes do things which are quite counter productive to actually helping children. While a lot of feminists did push for Roe vs. Wade, there were people in the feminist movement who were very much against abortion.
The prostate cancer research stamp never passed because womens health has been a "priority" over mens in this country, thanks to feminists. Probably because feminist groups can solicit more funds, have more time on their hands, and can pursuade politicians alot easier is why no major effort for mens health is possible. Women make 77 cents on the dollar because they don't work as hard as men do, it's been proven over and over again through the Buerau of Labor Statistics.
If a prostate cancer research stamp never passed men need to get the statistics out there to educate the public about how prostate cancer effects our population. You are saying that while money is being poured into researching female only diseases, male only diseases remain unfunded and un researched. What would be a good source for a person to check out exactly how much money is being spent on healthcare, this way one could compare male health care vs. female healthcare?
That being said, you got to remember, while we live in one of the wealthiest nations on this planet, we have too many people who are without healthcare. Currently so much money is wasted on administrative costs compared to other countries which instead choose to spend their money on the health of the people. It seems insurance companies have a greater say in healthcare than doctors.
The two best sources I know for the gender gap in wage is the CONSAD report for the "gender gap in wages" and the book by Warren Farrel "Why Men Earn More" in which it gives 25 reasons why women make less and it has nothing to do with discrimination.
I agree that it is not discrimination when say a female librarian is getting paid less then the male garbage collector; however that does not mean that there is no discrimination in society period. I was reading about how in the arts discrimination still exists. The trend is that a lot of famous art galleries have showings of very few female artists while of course the majority of nudes in the galleries are female. That being said, the same goes for playwrights and directors.
Women directors have a very hard to get their plays to Broadway just like women artists have a hard time getting into the famous galleries. If what the Gorilla Girls are saying is true, the number of female artists and play writers who make it big is generally around 5%. Also it seems that people of color are generally very under represented in the art world.
I partially disagree with the people of color statement, black people make up only 13% of the population and look at how many things in the media represent black people. BET exclusively covers black media, many black music and music videos dominate the media market. But then again, it's comes down to interest, if people don't find black people appealing or their art interesting, there would be no market and no one would buy anything.
That is simply a matter of preference and talent. If men tend to take more pictures than women or better ones, of course men are going to get hired. I don't think there are many people that are out there that say "well, since he is a man, I'm going to let them do photography". The most successful author right now is a woman, J.K. Rowling. But the difference is, it's not because she is a woman she is a good writer, she is just a good writer, we all have different talents regardless.

MysteryManoLove 2 years ago
I would think very few women would want to work for Playboy. That being said I'm sure lesbians would find taking pictures of women interesting.
I would think that most straight women, and gay men would find beauty in images of men if they found the men attractive.
I think society at least in America tends to freak out when it comes to male nudity. It's like OH NO....
