and my friend from my barn owns one of Holy Bull's sons...i dont know his race name though...so that makes your horse and my friends horse alf brothers :)
They don't hurt the horses in the mouth. It is a stud chain that is used and is to prevent the stallion from becoming too out of control. They are unpredictable animals.
This is true, most of the greats are very aggesive (a very good quality in a racehorse) they would just as soon bite you than look at you lolol been there, done that.
Love this magnificent animal in 94 i was on the dehere bandwagon but soon realized what a talented horse holy bull was going to be. He showed us all something we have,nt seen in a while, his love for running, his passion to bury his competitors with his god given speed. The sad part to the holy bull story is he never got to prove himself fully,we the fans lost out on some special performances,he could of very well have been as good as secretariat, but we will never know.
Haha.. I just finished watching the other clip of him, when he first arrived at Jonabell, all full of piss and vinegar! He looks like an old pro now. Love that tail.
meupatdoes, what is your horses name? I guess there are over 700 but it is still neat to talk to someone who has a brother/sister to your own horse...we also have a son of Holy Bull. His racing name was Holy Light. He didn't do so great at the track (only two wins out of 16 starts) but he is a lovely boy, so gentle and well mannered. Holy Light also incessantly chewed on the lead rope when we first got him.
I own a 2 y o Holy Bull filly, named Holy Helen. She broke her maiden on her second try. She is a good one, very professional, etc. Funny how these offspring are so much like their parents.
I use the word 'race horse' loosely, as he never set foot on the track. (But he did sell at Kenneland for $335,000 so I guess that counts for something.) :)
holy bull was the best! what a shame he broke down cigar was not as good and look what he went on to do holy bull had already won 6 in a row he would have broke citation record
What a magnificent champion! It's terrific to see him again and in such docile moments. Love his almost-white coat and long tail too. Thanks for the great video. Take care.
There is no such thing as a stud chain, it is a shank in their mouth. i do not think they need to use that.

I just found out my horse was sired by Holy Bull.
Now I look at this video and watch him try incessantly to chew on the lead rope.
The apple does not fall far from the tree.
