I still plan on doing a video comparison, but it might be a while before I can finish it. I'll definitely make a music comparison video and mp3's of each soundtrack.
I'll try to finish the comparision corrections I'm making for them sometime soon, too. So far, I've made it up to around the Select Stage screen up to this point (if anyone is wondering, I will not allow it to be seen until it has reached at least near-completion).
It's appreciated that you were able to put up the video of Bomberman '94, too, SuperPCEngineGrafx. I can definitely distinct the weakness of the music compared to Mega Bomberman now, and there are even total differences, it seems, in the tracks for the first two worlds (though the ones for them in Bomberman '94 sound more suited for Bomberman himself).
To me, the dark/spotlight effects for the "Spooky Castle" in Bomberman '94 aren't as appealing as the regular stage outlook in Mega Bomberman (it may be presenting more of a challange, but it's distracting-looking for the most part, too). It's pretty interesting to see how many gears move in "Dr. Beien(?)'s Fortress" stage.
In the multiplayer stages, I've noticed that you were hesitant in starting the Bombermen to move (perhaps mostly to show the animations that the crowd members make during them, I suspect). From seeing this, I'm still within the preference of Mega Bomberman (but in a large margin that before, though).
There are way more visual differences/cuts on the Megadrive version than I expected.
Mainly background animation and overlay effects like bats and fish that float/fly across the screen. Also all the little things like missing things from menu screens.
In Mega Bomberman, they basically took out all the background animation except for anything that actually affected gameplay, like those spinners in the fortress stage.
Yea, I've definitely noticed those visual alterations myself. How do the spinners affect game play, exactly; do they rotate Bomberman around when he touches/gets near them (the only effects I've seen there were the blows of steam shooting out of heated coal burner-like objects that can scold his behind while immobilize him for a moment)?
I highly agree that Mega Bomberman has greater music, Bomberman '94 has better graphics and that its music is weaker compared to Bomberman '93, definitely. Naturally, does a PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 HuCard/TurboChip have the ability to hold more data than a Sega MegaDrive/Genesis cartridge (a source had stated that Bomberman '94 was the size of 8 Megabits)?
Today HuCards and Genesis carts can be made as big as anyone is willing to make them.
In the early days of 16-bit consoles, they were limited in size as technology played catch-up. It didn't take long for the card/cart sizes to jump, but games like R-Type paid the price for being made earlier.
When these 2 games were made, memory size would only have been a cost issue. Hudson may have kept Mega Bomberman simple to keep the meg size low, but what's there isn't as good as it should be, so it was probably just a rush job.
I see. I suppose that could relate to why most later games for consoles are more advanced-looking than the earlier titles. I did speculate on the "Mega Bomberman Sega Genesis" video of yours that Hudson Soft may had put in less effort for the end part due to the aspects for it. What I would like to know, too, if it was normal for one to contain more data than another format (across versions of games, specifically). I was thinking that the spinners would rotate him around, but not in one-way.
I actually always kind of prefered '94's music over '93's. I also remember thinking Mega Bomberman's music sound way worse, but I don't recall how it sounds off hand.
i wished for a port of the saturn version which was and still is my favorite bomberman.

I remember playing this on my dad's IBM computer back when I was a kid.
It was difficult because once you lost all lives you had to start over from the start... I think I got to like area 8 though..
This is all I played till I got a N64 which was actually quite a while....

The Megadrive version still looks good on its own, but Bomberman '94 a pretty big jump in overall visual quality.
However, so far (without doing a direct comparison) it sounds like the Megadrive version probably has better music overall.
Of course, Bomberman '94 is known by PCE fans for having dissapointing sound/music. Especially compared to Bomberman '93.

If I remember correctly, the spinners shoot you a few spaces and you can only walk through them one way.
