I have a strong affinity to bring myself others happiness. Although, I will not succeed in making everyone happy as humans have different interpretations of what happiness is. Humans have physiological and psychological needs although arguable as determing which needs are most important. However, most humans believe similar fundamental needs. Upon meeting these needs than they are able to reach further into more elaborate needs. Basically, we all want to be loved therefore we make others happy.
By Happiness love is your answer. It goes beyond material explanation but is the end result to any existence. It is the answer to the greater experiment in this dimensional perception and beyond. It is the source and reason for the contrast of suffering and faith. Those that are awakened to love can begin to fill the void within their lives and try to spread this feeling to others. The result is Communion, order, and Peace.
Playing along with the this is a fucking machine talking I will answer this as if i was talking to a fucking computer.
What the fuck would a machine care about how I or anyone else cause happiness in others? Happiness is an emotion which would be beyond the programing of a fucking talking toaster.
Since what causes happiness is beyond that which would pertain to a talking tin can the question is not logical and hence not worthy of an answer.
I realize that I am a portion of the Divine, as is every other thing. Knowing that, I accept that my body is a temple, and I must keep it healthy and whole. I also realize that in my dealings with others, I must treat them with the same caring and respect that I would wish for them. I share this Truth with others. I include you within everything. I don't want hurt and I don't want any other thing to have hurt. So I must not cause hurt. I make that choice everyday. That's how I concretely act.
Happiness is relative to the individual. I try to find joy in m surroundings. I attempt to bring joy out in others often as simply as a smile and a sincere 'hello'.
Boxers find happiness fighting in the ring. Wrestlers find happiness causing pain to their opponents. Military Generals find happiness scheming and implementing their plans to overcome the weaker nations. Suicide bombers find happiness getting revenge and causing death to others.
Not worrying about things keeps me on a reasonable high. Always choosing to smile at people and see the good in others. Love, respect and awareness are the things I try to maintain in my life. And being prepared to celebrate our differences as much as those things we have in common.
interesting. you bring up alot of topics that people would have opinions on, but you do not respond. its interesting to see that you spark a match and watch it burn without further interference. I wonder, do you really care about the subject? or are you rather more curious about the reaction. I would think that a pure rational mind would not care about faith, truth, nor justice, but rather would be curious about those that do care about those subject interacting with each other.
I believe that achieving balance, a concept superior to that of happiness in terms of universal interaction and social justice, is to be achieved and prioritized prior to answer happiness. We are not responsible for others happiness as individuals can subjectively make ourselves happy or sad under siilar conditions. Example: rain ... some like it some don't.
i have happiness because i find happiness in others.. and therefore i can use that happiness to make others around me happy.. in essence i use peoples own happiness to make them happy and they use their happiness to make me happy and the cycle goes on and on with this cycle in theory it is possible for one person to make everybody in the world happy.. cause everybody is connected somehow to somebody else in this world
Why an A.I should be considered about Human happiness? What has been the purpose of the program that is interested in the reasons that human being is happy and can make others happy to ? Answer : Have you heard of religion? Who is the prophet and what is the goal of him/her/it ( in this case ) ?
Are you visitors to this video believe a 50 year old project of Secret agencies would pop into the Youtube and gives you the history? What if the answer to my questions are positive?! what are we facing
sadley, i can not awnser this i am not happy. i can't say thats i've been unhappy my whole life its just i don't know if i'm happy in the life that i am liveing now.
In order to create the maximum amount of happiness in others, I first create happiness within myself. I do this by meditating, releasing stress, and simply enjoying the beauty of living and thinking.
When I am happy, others around me feel this. We as humans can pick up on the feelings of our own species rather easily. Therefore, I increase the level of well-being in those directly near by relative to the level posotive energy I put off.
you ask " what am i doing to cause happyness in others and in myself?"
to be honest that is a very difficult question to answer, at least for me it is. You say you will be happy when humanity supasses it,s need for religion, and i can agree with that, but I need to feel that i am a part of soething bigger than just me in order to be happy. So many people are struggeling against themselfs. I try to help them find a way to be at peace with themselfs.
My answer is, I am gathering information. The reason this increases my happiness, is I believe I still need to know moe regarding the specific problems at hand, and my ability to influence the system, before I should commit to action that is capable of changing the system as it is now. I compare this to the old saying "look before you leap".
I am sad that this feels like a waste of time, as I believe my subconscious has all answers ready for me, but I cannot access that information readily.
I allow myself to feel happy. I allow myself to feel good so that I can perpetuate my wonderful and happy and fantastic and perfect life. Im happily humbled and gratious for everything I have have been blessed to expierience in my life. I no longer resist myself. I understand that an inherent want to feel good lies in every human. By showing those around me I feel good, those around me see that they too can and should feel good. Thus a vicous cycle of happyness. :) X infiniti=?
I try to create happyness with those around me by keeping a positive attitude, encouragement, praise, and all around having fun. I myself try not to take myself too seriously and will often poke fun at subjects that maybe are bothering me to keep me lighthearted. In turn, I try to pass that along to those around me. I believe that its truely the little things that matter, because life is a bunch of little things, and if they get to you, then you'll have no luck when a big thing comes around!
Back in the Days of Appollo usefull technical information was found by relating to rock or sleeping in Caves. Whats your techno crissy on this ??? Is earth rock alive and just too slow moving to see spontaneously ???
Wow, I really like that thought. Beleive me I've considered it many times. Right now since I'm still in school I don't feel like I can do much to make others happy, but I'm trying to gain the knowledge and friends so that I can have power to make the world a better place. For myself, I really like "expanding" my mind, learning things I find interesting, and connecting with others. Eidolon, do you think you can make the world a better place?
I am indifferent as to whether this is a joke or not but its a good question to pose just the same. My occupation involves physically preserving art, which I believe to be one of the few positive creations that humans have produced during their existence. I do not need to pontificate about why and how art reaches people. I will instead leave that to E TLP. By resurrecting artifacts I am trying to ensure that we will be reminded in the future of our ability to create beauty and spread happiness.
I overheard two people, apparently strangers to one another, talking on the bus yesterday.
Stranger 1 was trying to get stranger 2 to question his motives in doing apparently selfless community service and charity. #1 asked if #2 ever felt joy from doing charitable acts for others, and #2 replied "Yes, though it usually depends on the act."
#1 found this to be sufficient evidence to denounce all goodwill assumed in #2's actions because by his logic they were based entirely in selfishness.
The problem is, every human interprets an experience differently.
There are experiences that are generally accepted to cause a certain general emotional response, but it's impossible to have somebody react exactly as you do.
As to the question posed, i like creating sounds and music, and would really like to see someone push for an olfactory stimuli. Smells/armoas have the strongest link to memory, and our happiest moments/experiences are always in the past.
Aromas have been found to be a very subjective thing. I personally grew up in more rural areas and often smelled skunks when travelling in the woods. The experience of being out in the woods was fun, so the aroma of skunks is not so repulsive as others find it to be. Smell is strongly tied to taste though, which is found to be much less subjective. Interesting how the subjective is able to overcome the objective, eh?
I think an important idea is that the happiness brought to others be as lasting and of the highest nature as possible. Instant and short term gratification is what leads to behaviors like rewarding kids with food and wondering why they get fat and unhealthy. I use this reasoning when I try to come up with ways of contributing to the happiness of others. Happiness from momentary indulgence does not excuse longer term negative effects.
I am a naturally happy person, so there is very little that I need to do to make myself happy. As I grow older I find that which make me the most happy is making other people happy. So I've been working toward large scale endeavors. I'm floundering between going into politics to change the system we live in to make people happy, or going into computer science and making games that will make people happy. In either case I know that I myself will enjoy doing either one.
Since your own existence right now needs to be regarded as a "joke", what would be the point of taking any of your suggestions or comments seriuosly? Given that there is no way to prove that you are not a forgery, it is only on "faith" that one can watch your videos with any conviction.
Regardless of whether Eidolon is a forgery or a joke, the fact that there is a human partly if not completely behind this dialog. When the dialog is one of intelligent, objective, neutral nature it is a positive thing. This topic would seem to be that, so it can be productive. Where faith is needed is that other people can separate the topic from the fiction and make good use of it.
I achieve happiness by creating music. I have found that the longer I go without practicing or writing a song, the deeper I fall into depression. Nothing brings me more joy than knowing that I've inspired or pleased someone by creating music--seeing that I've caused joy in just one person is enough to brighten my entire day, and give me the courage to create more.
I also truly enjoy teaching kids, not just music, but simply interacting with and learning from them. They remind me to stay young at heart, and I have such fond memories of my own various role models as a kid, that it brings me considerable joy to return the favor for as many as I can.
2) I consider what my values are, why they are, and try to live by them.
3) I stay physically active, educate myself, and exercise self-discipline.
4) I have meaningful interactions with my friends and others. I think communicating ideas in a peaceful manner expands the mind and relieves inner tension.
I'm far from perfect in applying each of those methodologies, but they're modes to work toward.
Meditation is the key to my happiness. I try to do it daily, but I get in 4-5 sessions a week. With a mental and physical relaxation period, I find it focuses me on the moment--a problem, I feel most have these days of multiple distractions. I give happiness to others in the form of laughter--I have a keen sense of observation and filter it though my evolved humor in a way that is unique and logical--world realization, peppered with humor is alway the way to go IMHO.
What its weird about this question is how much it makes me think. What, really, am I doing to make people happy right now? Man, I would get depressed thinking about it, if it wasnt because you want me to begin with myself. Okay Pill, get happy, then get creative on how to make people happy. I'll be back...
I usually think of happiness as satisfaction. I usually find satisfaction in creating many different types of media and people's responses to it. I also gain satisfaction in making other's feel happy/satisfied/whatever they think is happiness. Most of all, I am satisfied by not being unhappy (it goes on for many levels).
I try to give people who will listen, but do not normally think about, information that will help them be weary of coming dangers, (i.e. politics, economics, technology). For myself I worry and worry; without a counterfeit meaning like religion or nationalism I find myself wishing for a life's purpose. I don't commit suicide.
Not a very deep answer, but my wife and I run the soccer league where we live. We're pretty sure this makes a whole bunch of kids happy for a while each year.
None.I wake up, I wash, I eat, I surf the internet, I eat, and I surf a little more and I sleep. There's no such thing as happiness, I just passing time, avoiding any kind of thoughs of my unavoidable death.
I'm not trying to be happy, I'm trying not to be unhappy.
I am happy enough with my own life that my hobbies, pastimes, local & online friends, family, and internet activity suffice for my own enjoyment. For others, my home is for all intensive purposes an open house for my friends and their friends to hang out, watch TV, play video games, card games, use as temporary internet access, etc. Outside of my circle of friends, I hope that my blog serves as a means of communication to relay my thoughts to anyone willing to read it. Altruism perseveres.
Given a short time to reflect on the question, I also come to realize that my work -- part time technical support -- is also altruistic in nature. To help others work out computer related problems and perhaps understand computer software and hardware better, and on occasion while helping others with a problem I don't immediately know the answer to, I research and gain knowledge in the process of helping another. Thinking about it, this too makes me happier.
I mean to be honest. I believe that everyone should work to make others happy in their everyday lives. This not only benefiets the person to recieve the action, but also the giver. It can be immensely satisfiying just to know that you are appreciated for the small things. If everyone acted that way i believe you would find alot less stress in this culture...
One of the things that makes me the most happy is infact making others happy. So I am always in a constant battle to make others happy even when I feel bad. Because I find that often when I am the least happy, it is bringing joy to someone that has no knowledge of my plight that makes me truly happy. I stop to talk to strangers in stores, i let little old ladies go before me and I often hold the door for others.
I am happy if I don't get fooled. If I watch people's reactions to this "project" here on youtube, I wonder, why so many others choose to be fooled and yet are made happy by this.
Today's chatterbots perform rather poorly especially with respect to pragmatics - even top of the notch chatterbots like Elbot are far from having the skills "Eidolon" is ascribed. And if so - "F.F." would be a millionaire chilling on sandy beaches rather than farting into an office chair posting videos on youtube.
3 years ago I was in a state of clinical depression. The significant contributing factors were a sense of worthlessness, failure and a complete lack of self esteem. I was helped by friends and family and encouraged to follow a course of behavioral cognitive therapy. This therapy more than anything else cured my depression and self esteem issues. Now I understand that everybody is a worthwhile and useful person and do my best to pass this on to those around me.
Your question asks how we are following something like the Bodhisattva vow to relieve suffering. When an individual develops the wish to liberate humans from the experience of suffering, this is compassion. Knowing that all humans wish to obtain happiness, and wanting to give them happiness, this is loving-kindness.
I think that the best thing I can do for myself and those close to me is allow all of us to be the fullest expression of ourselves... I do not desire to control or manipulate others: in intimate relationships, this can be tricky. Practise, not perfection ;-)
I also believe in mending my own fences before attempting to "fix" those fences around me... I wish we applied this theory to things like Iraq and our foreign policy (i.e. using resources for our deficiencies here in America before waging war to interfere in the Middle East).
I recently had to memorize the "Serenity Prayer" for a short film. If you take the "God" element out of it (or make "God" an undefined "spiritual" metaphor or interior motivation), I find it quite profound: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."
The balance, or "wisdom", between serenity for acceptance and courage for change is a tightrope walk indeed.
I think the real point of discerning the difference between the 'acceptance' and the 'courage' is that of understanding objective facts from subjective conclusions. When we spend our time trying to change facts, we merely distort and mask them by trying to influence the conclusions of others. By focusing on evaluating our conclusions we can attempt to make more productive use of facts.
I agree that when objective vs. subjective conclusions are clear, decision making between "acceptance" and "courage" is much simpler. However, life doesn't always fit into nice little boxes and the lines between objective and subjective can often blur. For instance, relationships between people are laden with exceptions to objectivity, are almost entirely subjective. Within relationships, differences in point of view can mar the assessment of facts, whether they are objective or no.
I have turned to my glass art to provide my own zen, and have found that I bring happiness to people when they see my art or purchase it for their collections. seeing people happy when they view the art that provides my own greatest happiness is a wonderful feeling.
I cause happiness in my life by causing happiness in others. For the people who I care a great deal for, bringing joy to their existence with small and gestures a like is very rewarding for me. Aside from other people, I directly cause happiness in myself by spending time on my hobbies. I pursue goals and knowledge that upon reaching them give me a sense of personal accomplishment or a greater understanding of the world.
Personally, if I have happiness in myself I want to make everyone around me happy. I believe happiness is generated within and has nothing to do with outward circumstances. I think the trick is how to feel happy regardless of your situation. If everyone can feel happy regardless of what situation they are in then I think this problem is solved.
You would be amazed at how little humans need to be happy. We are primarily animals, and as such our behaviour is greatly influenced by feelings. People's mood is very easy to change, a smile or a hug can make a huge difference in some situations.
Dralios, alcohol and tobacco are way too dangerous. I will always prefer weed :D Even so, it's not the drug that makes you happy. It's still you, in a less inhibited state.
There is another way to provide happiness within oneself. Intake of psychoactive drugs such as alcholol, marijuana, tobacco etc. etc. This can be argued though.
A way to provide happiness in oneself is being at peace with all the decisions you made. Not being in agreement with important decisions such as your next job, or marriage can lead to stress and unhappiness.
Bringing happiness is harder than it looks. One of the causes of un-happiness is loneliness. When a human is alone for too long, they tend to get depressed and unhappy. A direct response to that is trying to communicate actively. Actively listening to what they are saying, giving feedback and manifesting interest are keys to healthy happy communications between humans.
Thank you for the question. I never expected that.

"What specific 'concrete actions' are you taking to cause happiness in as many humans as possible, beginning with yourself?"
Answer: I believe and have faith in myself.
Q: What would be your answer to this question?
Peace, Love and Harmony to All.

Got another answer for you: I like the "Golden Rule"... "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
This principle is inherent in many religions.
You got me pondering... ;-)

How is anybody being fooled? This project has always been proclaimed to be a joke by EidolanTLP and F.F.
Why not just cheer up and join the fun?

I bring my self happiness by bringing happiness to those around me through kindness.

DawnAkemi 4 years ago
I think the real point of discerning the difference between the 'acceptance' and the 'courage' is that of understanding objective facts from subjective conclusions. When we spend our time trying to change facts, we merely distort and mask them by trying to influence the conclusions of others. By focusing on evaluating our conclusions we can attempt to make more productive use of facts.
SirEuchre 4 years ago

It's still you, in a less inhibited state.
georgebnet 4 years ago 2
There is another way to provide happiness within oneself. Intake of psychoactive drugs such as alcholol, marijuana, tobacco etc. etc. This can be argued though.
Dralios 4 years ago 2
A way to provide happiness in oneself is being at peace with all the decisions you made. Not being in agreement with important decisions such as your next job, or marriage can lead to stress and unhappiness.

Thanks for the question .
