  • He sweep-picks at 1:10. Chet Atkins' style transcends technique.

  • Mr. Guitar showing some fast moving chords and finger action......wow. Thanks.

  • Two of the greatest legends that ever lived on one stage at one time. What could be sweeter?

I loved Chet's guitar and I loved Marty's voice...they will never, NEVER be replaced.

  • You could torture me and I will never change my view on how great I think Chet Atkins is. He has influenced soooo many people and was a great, humble man. We love you Chet...RIP

  • was chet SWEEPING?

  • @ZakeWagner right at the end he does. on that last arpeggio. hes just an awesome finger picker though

  • at 1:10 Marty gets blasted by some sweep picking mastery! Awesome!

  • Its a complete bastard aint it!? When people like Chet died all that bloody talent died with him. Techology will truely be great when (LikeThe Matrix!) you can download all that talent before the person dies and play like Chet forever!. (Miss and love you Chet! and a happy New year in Heaven too for 2011!!)

  • Something I've always wondered about. When Marty let his hair grow long did he also have a nose job? His profile from (I'd say) the post "Don't Worry" days to the end looked different.

  • @glipzik Marty had a really bad car wreck and it took over 100 stitches in just his face. That is why his face looks different.

  • i used to think i could play,,not anymore,,im taking up drums,,thanks chet...

  • Music to axe murder by.

  • Man, Chet and Marty in the same vid together! I feel like i've died and went to heaven!

Poor Marty didn't even dare try to chime in with his own guitar!

  • two of the best. the master of the guitar aka chet atkins and the master balladeer marty robbins. thanks for sharin g

  • My 2 absolute musical heroes on 1 stage.

To hear Chet play and in the same show hear Marty sing....How much would you pay to see that show!?!?....priceless

  • Chet was amazing.

  • two of the greatest. no doubt.

  • he was the biggest!

  • That was slick.

  • chet atkins was the master of the guitar. no one could play like him but marty cam close. they are missed.

  • 1:12 he is doing sweep picking.

  • I never saw a TV performance so difficult, so clean and controlled, such tone, so perfect. It's as good as a recording. Even for Chet Atkins, this is rare. I wonder if they did a million takes in the studio to get it.

  • My friend you heard it as it was played, if you know Chet you would know this. You should have seen him live and in person, my friend.

  • I would probably pay my life savings to see these 2 in the same show.

  • your tellin me!

  • @laslos3 Most definitley!!!

  • I listen to all kinds off music mostly 2Pac and Metallica but this is amazing, i wish i could play like that

  • I really have no clue how this guy got the nickname "Mister Guitar"

  • Because he was that good!!!!!

  • That is because you have no clue as to what he is doing. You are out of your league on knowledge, my friend.

  • You screen name explains it all: you are a donkey.

  • MERCY!

  • vote for tiger

  • Wow, Chet is so good, he even gets the vocal part out of his guitar...

  • effortless

  • Is this music dead? :(

  • I'm a Chet style player and don't play any Chet style anymore,People don't want to hear it if their under 50 years old, they would rather hear screaming Fuzz tone laden players that can't play without effects and their amp on 11, Thanks I love this Chet is KING of pickers

  • Yeah, Chet was the greatest! And I know for a fact that people well under 50 (or 30 even) DO appreciate this style, partly because it's so unusual to hear it these days. I play some 50s Chet tunes like Mr. Sandman and Black Mountain Rag and they go down a storm, here in England, believe me!

  • These 2 are my absolute country music heroes.

On 1 hand you have a guitar player who plays everything with such ease he makes you think you can do it until you actualy try, and then settin next to him the greatest singer of all times...great

  • great stuff but i would love to have heard marty sing as well

  • the skill involved

  • In my opinion Chet Atkins is the greatest guitar player today. No disrespedt to many of the other great ones out there today. I love to listen to Clapton, B.B, Muddy Waters, Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughn(close second) but Chet transcends style.

  • I agree 100%....ALL those others you mentioned only played ONE style of music and pretty much nothing else...Chet recordings were the widest panorama of playing styles. NOBODY even came close to what he did...

  • I would hesitate to say that....there are alot of guitarists out the and chet is prolly the best...but atleast mention marty robbins, leon rhodes, carl perkins, waylon jennings, and many many others

  • Curious about something. I remember watching this show until I was 4, when Marty died. Did the intro to the show have a train? It's been a while and I want to make sure I am remembering correctly.

  • Not just one but TWO of the best! Thanks for posting that one!

  • Perfect

  • The one and only !

    Terje

  • Holy crap, Chet's the man.

  • Great old clip, muzikman 74! Thanks for posting! Much appreciated.

  • i love the look on Marty's face when Chet peels off that super lick. Oh Son!

  • That was very good and Thank you for sharing.
