  • im not even going to think of anything creative, because they don't deserve it. 17 PEOPLE ARE MUSICALLY IGNORANT IDIOTS!!!!

  • It's sad that music like this doesn't really get made anymore... It's gone the way of Vinyl, but you know what? Vinyl is coming back, and I have a feeling good music will too. Everyone is in a radio rock/radio pop phase, listening to music that panders to them as opposed to music that has artistic beauty like this. Perfect example, when I type "Soul" into the search the first suggestion is "Soulja Boy"... Very sad.

  • Wow look at all the friendly comments. It takes the allman brothers to kill the youtube hate war i guess.

  • yeah shine your soul shine and all that bullshit they tel ya

  • Thank you to Shar3735....I like to think of it that way. Many hugs in return!

  • This music helpped me in some of my harddest days.

  • @tkaniam Me too.

  • I'm trying to learn this song for an open mic thing, I started playing guitar maybe 4 years ago, and so far I've been afraid to play live. But I know a good few songs and I want my first song I do live to be something special so it's between this and something by Jimi Hendrix. Zep is too obvious, as awesome as they are, but this song I think will be the one. It's not too obvious, it's definitely something special, and it's just plain beautiful.

  • @penningtonant yeah I see what you u mean, trey's guitar especially

  • @giantfriendlycat Yeah. That, and the organ, is what I see as the most derivative.

  • I feel like Phish's jams derive more from these guys than the Dead.

  • amazing

  • Wonderful song.....Love it!!!!!

  • Não tenho palavras pra descrever o bem que essa música me faz.

  • awesome song this is a gov't mule song and not Allman Brothers Band because Warren Haynes is in the allman brother band its doesn't make it there song thanks anyway

  • @anikorimotibeber just lke my daddy use to say

  • just like my dad y use to say

  • Amazing Song!!!

  • We are one of the few young people who likes this music. We have uploaded a recorded cover of another song by allman brothers on our channel, please go listen to it and don't let music like this die :(.

  • im so stoned right now...

  • One of my favorite songs all time.. No Doubt

  • This song just makes me feel good......that's all there is to it!

  • if some people don't like this, I really can't understand their preconceived notion of just exactly what or why they would even turn on the radio unless they just want to hear the weather forecast. This being stated, ---- they can --- they can --- I guess -- just listen to the weatherman -- or weatherwoman -- [to be politically correct]. If they're lucky maybe their tomorrow will be filled with "SOULSHINE".

  • Love this song. That's alotta soul shinin' right there.

  • Love this grew up on this!!!!!!!!!

  • Truly...16 people don't know what they are doing by disliking this song. Pure Beauty...my Daddy plays this song every time he plays a gig, and it always brings a collective tear to what ever audience he plays for.

  • real Southern Soul!!!!!!

  • Dickey im going to make it one of my life goals to see you play live

    beautiful

  • Growing up, my dad would be so down and out, and we knew it.. he'd put this song on, he's still alive, but I feel for you Jenfowler73. I love this song so much.

  • Someone very special used to play this for me... ~will forever be haunted by him

  • Dickie betts can jam!

  • (16/1,785)*100 = a 0.89 percent chance of misclicking the 'Like' button. Seems reasonable.

  • @staratsx lmfao

  • This song is the fu**ing truth.

  • This song makes me feel so mellow. Like I could sit out by the pool and just chill. It would probably be a good slow dance too...or at least okay. I would dance to it.

  • in this darkness before the dawn!!!!!!

  • my soul is shining, love and peace < 3

  • we need to protest outside Greggs house demanding him to get Dickey back!!!!

  • @Django5198 As much as its not the same without dickey, hes an asshole

  • So when you type in "soul" on the searchbar it comes up with nothing but "soulja boy". I always knew that there was something wrong in this world

  • @Django5198 there is nothing wrong with people liking soulja boy he makes music too if you dont like someones music then dont bash it man im not a fan of him ether but i dont hate on him

  • @acdcandnerf You know what man you're absolutely right. I was having a bad day yesterday and I do stupid things like that when I'm having a bad day. I don't hate him I just dislike his music. I was being snobbish. i'm soryy :)

  • @Django5198 oks :)

  • since warren wrote this song, i think maybe he has the right to play it, i agree dickie has great soul, but warren is the hardest working man in the music business, you rock warren, you have soul in your voice, and your guitar playing.

  • this song is getting me through some rough times right now, thanks Gregg

  • This is a great song. If you like this, check out the Bastard Suns cover of it. As much as I love the Allman Bros., I prefer that version. Either way, it's an amazing song. :)

  • The most soulful version I've ever heard of this tune was done by the band Root Doctor....imho. ...slower gospel vibe of Root Doctor, the vocals, and the sparse and intense guitar solo make it river deep... anyhow, check it out on itunes... nice reading of a great song for sure...

  • Don't get much better than that!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • Don't get much better than that!!!

  • One of the greatest songs ever

  • history

  • no one should ever play lead on this song but dicky betts. you cant replace soul greg!

  • Saw these dudes at a bar in Nyack NY ~24 yrs ago. They all were drunk & Dickey slurred his guitar like a drunk man talks-didn't know it could be done. Great band but not when stoned out. Would love to have been at Watkins Glen in '73 & seen them w/The Band, The Dead, & 600,000 souls!

  • 14 People were drunk or lost their mind...lol.

  • nice guitart playing

  • This is me and my bride to be's first song at our wedding today.

  • @esinc77 congratulations. Good luck to you guys

  • @esinc77 congrats man! hope you two are happy together.

  • @esinc77

Thanks man, you gave me a brilliant idea.

    Wish you both happiness :)

  • I just can't stop listening to this

  • I had this played at my Dad's funeral too. Almost a year now...can't believe it. I sure miss my Daddy.

  • @jenfowler73 so sorry about ur dad. this song kinda mellows u out. u know.

  • @jenfowler73 I also played this at my father's funeral. Great song.

  • @jenfowler73 I'll be your Daddy.

  • @jenfowler73 I love this song, and your Daddy would want you to keep your soul shining, I truly believe he sees and knows you miss him. HUGZZ!!

  • In Memory of my nephew, Gregory Allen Baker/aka Jesus Christopher 09/09/71 - 08/28/11...So glad I got to see the Allman Brothers with you and hear this song! Shine on!

  • @lisao1965 that's so sad. GBU and yours.

  • @0520bitch Thank you!

  • sorry for ur lost. god bless.

  • @lisao1965 Thank you! We didn't have a cd to play this song at Greg's funeral, but his mother read some of the lyrics...It was one of his favorite songs! He was also buried with his favorite Allman Brother's t-shirt...so worn you could hardly read it he wore it so much!

  • and DAMN sure better then Rain!

  • Duane and Dickey at there mother fuckin' second best. Blue Sky is better, I feel.

  • @th3mw3llboyz Daune died in 71 or 72 (forget which year)...This is Warren Haynes and Dickey Betts...in fact i believe that this was a Gov't Mule song, which Warren wrote...

  • does anybody know were dac remake is this is great but i know he did this to gfod

  • 3:07 = GREAT vibrato. It sounds like slide vibrato. :D

  • who originally sang this song, warren haynes or allman bros?

  • @5spdzx3 was told song was thrown around in goverment mule but haynes never did anything with it

  • @MrGioguitar well haynes sings for gov't mule so that's what i meant. but did allman bros first come out with it or was it mule?

  • @5spdzx3 twas the allmans i believe

  • @5spdzx3 The original was the ABB....

  • @5spdzx3 this is an allman bro song but warren haynes wrote it

  • These guys rock...

  • fuck. just discovered this. hello world.

  • @mcprofacy welcome friend!

  • i love this bluesy soul. i get really emotional with music and this is a perfect song for it

  • If i close my eyes im transported to Georgia,SWEEET!!!

  • I didn't know this song til i heard it tonight on tv. I happened upon it just flippin channels on tv - I saw a guy from NH play acoustic and sing it on WSBK's Community Audition show and I thought what a great song lyrically-- and now I heard the original

I'm gonna listen to this over & over!

  • my dad was a platoon seargent first class E-7 in the Korean war when he was only 20 years old. God rest him, but he brought his sons up right. Glad to be my fathers son.

  • @bearing44 Right on man

  • @bearing44 As a Navy Commander - I Salute you bearing44

  • This song has such an application to everyones life. I am currently about to go college, a time in my life that is filled with doubt and concern, but this song really hits home for me and i can relate 100%

  • awesome song....also the cover of TATband soulshine...

  • It's still the Allman brothers band clix411. Just because Greggs brother Duane died in 1971 does not mean that he is not there in spirit with the band. Just the way I see it. thanks for posting this great tune.

  • Somethin this good can only come from the South! God bless Dixie and everyone who calls her home

  • @QuietObsession AMEN Brother!!!

  • @QuietObsession north, south, it's america

  • @QuietObsession ur are so right!

  • Such a beautiful song

  • Isnt this really just Greg Allmans band, not exactly the Allman Bros Band? As harsh as it is his brother was dead, so there isnt a pair anymore ya know which would affect the title with the word Bros, not offending anyone, an old wise fart mentioned that the other day and im a little puzzled, and maybe i misunderstood

  • @clix411 I grew up in Macon, Georgia, where this band called "home" and recorded many of their songs at Capricorn Studios. These guys were brothers in flesh as well as spirit....when Duane and Barry died, it did not lessen their "brotherly" love for each other. They are, today as well 40 years ago, brothers still. The Allman Brothers Band was the original name of the group....just because Duane died, that was no excuse to change their name.

  • Southern fried favorite, also in my greatest all time ever list!

  • This is a Rightous song!!!! I love it.......

  • Soulshine is better than sunshine... and it is damn sure better than rain!!!! <3 it!!

  • Wonderful song <3

  • 10 people think that sunshine is better than soulshine, that's sad...

  • what a song, really really...what a song...!!!

  • My heart swells SO HUGE whenever I hear this song, and isn't that what music is supposed to do? Makes me feel awesome!!! JOB DONE!!!

  • Obviously, 10 people have never seen the brother's live

  • @TheWilbanks752003 hahahahah thats right ...but those people could not handle it...

  • 10 people that have never felt soulshine. they have never felt that hurt. i heard this about a week after my dad past, for the first time, it made me feel somwhat better knowing that im not the only one thats suffering. but at the same time i was sobbing like a baby.

  • Wow.. I can't believe I forgot this song... till I heard it on the radio yesterday. Fantastic!

  • 10 idiots!!

  • 10 people don't let their soul shine.

  • Love this song

  • so southern!!!

  • I like it sung by Warren better, but its an amazing song no matter who sings it!!!

  • I heard this song on the radio today for the first time, some one was requesting it, I LOVE the allman bros, and this song is beautiful, love the name, Soulshine, most definitely, I am going to send it to my son who just had his heart broke, I keep telling him to keep his head up, but this song says it so much better than I can. I only heard the song on the radio and not who the artist was, it didn't take long for me to realize it was greg allman, know that voice anywhere.

  • I guess he's never heard Blue Sky.

  • 9 people's soul is not shining. Beautiful song.

  • 8 people do not appreciate good music. Long live the Allman Brothers!

  • In a word " amazing"

  • B-E-A-UTIFUL SONG THUMBS UP TO THE ALLMAN BROTHERS

LOVE ALL THE WAY FROM THE U.K

  • This is a Government Mule song, NOT ALLMAN BROTHERS!!!!

  • @Cman52984 Wrong. Written by Warren Haynes, sung by Gregg Allman in 1994 when Warren was still with ABB. Technically first performed as ABB.

  • Absolutely the best song in the history of the world,,,I've played it 10,000 times ...Will never get tired of it....

  • what great, great song, this touches me to my very soul.

  • How can you not like this song, you must not know what it means!

  • @srlove2003

A student came in before school today and told me his father had been diagnosed with terminal cancer - less than a year to live. Third hour in study hall, almost no one else in the room, I played this on my computer. We're listening and read your comment. He said : Gosh, my dad was born in 1962. It was a moment. May your father rest in peace.

  • quite possibly the most groovin intro/ solo of all time!

  • Just one of the many excellent songs that the Allman Brothers played!

  • My brother and chose this song and others including Simple Man for our Daddys funeral almost 3 weeks ago! The songs we chose was Daddy all the way! Just like they were written for him! He was only 49, the first man I ever loved and now he's gone, but I'll always be Daddys little girl! 1961-2011
