you can use dental floss as a string by soaking it in the glass of water for 3 hours and then brush the floss!! and yo ucan see it will split in to a thin shreds!! and it will be look like invisible!!

i dont remember where, i was 10 and on vacation with my parents, but i am almost exactly sure that it was someone on the streets, he was on youtube i think but i dont remember teh account name, if i find it i will let you know. he was makeing a can and a ball and all diffrent objects float, even a dollar from my pocket ( no he did not crumble it up) and i ran my hands under and over and through every object, it was right infront of me to. my parents thought he was weird though -.-

It's not very expensive, but if you don't wanna spend any money on it then there aren't many alternatives that I know of.

I know some people have managed to make their own thread by pulling apart specific brands of dental floss, but I don't have the patience OR the correct brand so I can't vouch for that
