Out of Darkness, IMHO was Diana's BEST performance. I think it gets overshadowed by Lady Sings the Blues (in which she also was outstanding in) because it was a made for TV movie. Regardless of the genre, it was a well written movie, and her performance was excellent. It won her a People's Choice Award (She should have won and Emmy and Golden Globe). Not since Sybil had I seen such a great movie about a terrible illness.
A very moving film that starred Diana Ross, many say that it was her very best film performance of her career. Check the film out and then let me know what you think?
@Dawsy51 Wow. . Lady Di was goood in what I've seen so far. But Blinky's tune is so sweet, sexy!!! I never knew she did this much solo work. I was under the impression almost all of what she did was backup. I just don't understand these industry producers; so much talent is allowed to go by the wayside for God knows what. Well, I can't say that about Blinky, she still going on and God bless her for doing so!
@Dawsy51 Clearly her best and all these young girls who sing and are still trying to act need to really take lessons from the Queen. Diana Ross brought this role to life and she was perfect. This was the most accurate portrayal that I have ever seen of a person with Schizophrenia in a severely psychotic episode - period. She played the entire character with such range and clarity from when Pauly Cooper was well to predromal to full blown psychotic. Amazing job by Ms. Ross -see this movie
Diana can act...and isn't afraid to leave the glamour when the role calls for it.
Great song too...
Thanks

i love this movie and watch it regularly...the scene where her mother chases her down the street and just gives up is heartbreaking.
