I learned to play this song a couple weeks back and still practice every day. Although I still mostly play the rhythm power chords through the chorus, I've mixed in a couple little tweaks to make it not sound so plain jane. But i love how jimi plays through the chorus and verses with a mix of chords and soloing.

i thougt sliding chords from low fret to a high fret was soft..n its very common..u ggot to always try something not that common..if you read tabs from old players like john lee hooker, their plaiong isnt that simple they have tried to get rid of common techniques that every one uses,,

yep, pretty much half of all the solos were improv, but the walk ups nah, there the same... just i was playing in one scale improvising, and thank you for the kind words, i plan to have another one up soon

but i think the use of scales is this...you play to a scale..where scale top to bottom is itself a melody..but when you play it to a beat that is a drum you chage that melody ! the same way some one learn to make a melody fotr their singing,,..they sing a poem to a beat,...they dont make a melody without a beat its kind of hard

improvisation is mostly of intuitive ideas, they come naturally(that is why they are not so complex with shape)..but its dependent on musical elements like beat rhythem behind your playing ..when you play to a beat n rhyme n rhythem it comes naturallly
