I have read lots of opinions about what causes this effect in this model of camera. Do you remember what batteries you were using? I am stuck between EMF interference from the engine and poor power supply at the moment.
That's CMOS wobble. No question. The imager reads the lines at different times instead of taking a snapshot, so if the camera pans left a pole will appear slanted to the right because of the different positions when the different lines are scanned.
wavy pic is electronic interference inmost cases it happens with my rear view video monitor and I had to get good high quality carbon core spark line to avoid further distortion.
My guess is that there is some kind of camera shake removal processing going on and that is introducing the wobble. I've seen similar artifacts being introduced by using optical flow based interpolation.
I just saw the slow moving ATC test and it's there too. Maybe the camera is filming at less than 30 fps and the frame rate is being upscaled by interpolating.
why does it wobble so much?

Might I suggest you point the camera forward?

how many minutes i can record with this camera?

Apparently, up to two hours with a 2gig sd card. There is a table at the back of the users manual which is on the OS web site

Hi, I just test today my new ATCK2K cam and sometimes the image seems to "jump". Which speed is your SD-card? And what resolution and fps do you use?
Your video looks smoother than mine ;)

Is this taken using the Oregon Scientific ATC-2000?
scooley4241 5 years ago
yes. the orginal file looks much better but is very huge.
VermilionX750 5 years ago
Thanks... Does the original have the "flag in the wind" bad effect... or was that an artifact of compression?
scooley4241 5 years ago
if you mean the distortion effect. yes, it's still in the original file. i dunno if there's a way to prevent it. it's probably from the vibration.
