Steel is steel. Who cares where it is made. Why should tax payers have to pay more for it just to have it made in America? Representatives are supposed to do what is best for the taxpayers, not what is best for private industry. America doesn't have a government owned steel industry. The main object here is not money which is just a piece of paper that can come and go. What is the main objective here is to preserve not just jobs but to preserve the skills, knowledge, and experience of American workers and their supporting (and remaining centers of real production:machine tools, heavy engineering, machine building, technical schools, etc) infra-technostructures. Practice makes perfect. Which can be improved upon further and spread to other parts of the United States.

I live in Michigan and I've been watching this issue for many years, especially regarding the NAFTA superhighway. The foundations for the new bridge have already been in place on the American side in Detroit for some time now. It was only a matter of time before China got their lap dog, Snyder, in office to push this project through. A direct sea port on the western coast of Mexico with rail connections into the heartland and then trucking up into Canada. The Amero lives!
