Thank you for this message. It took me a while to understand this. I am a brown skinned plus size ( 18) woman. I grew up just feeling different because of my thin, light skinned family. Once I found my worth u cant tell me nothin! I try to pass the message onto my niece. She is dark skinned and is going thru some of those issues right now. She looks up to me as a role model and I tell her she is beautiful every chance I get

OMG, thank you for this video. Our black is beautiful. As a little girl I had this boy in my class that liked to tease me about my dark skin. He called me darky and all kinds of names. Ironically he was darker than me and looked like Urkel. Thinking back on this makes me laugh now. Anyways, I wish I could see that little you know what today. Thank you for your video though, but at my old age I don't think it will ever be possible to "stop hearing those negative comments" ringing in my ears day in and day out. This is why people kill themselves, ie negative comments

There are many that don't feel beautiful and look for others to make them feel better but you couldn't have said it better when you said if you know your beautiful the world will know it too. the sad part is teens are committing suicide. killing themselves based off how they look as a teenager. they are basing beauty off how older women in the media look. there is no way they feel like they can compete. i worked at a behavioral health center before and a lot of teenagers felt like they were awful looking and it made me so sad. My mother always told me I was beautiful and I love her for that.
@cdwighthair We were lucky to have mothers who never allowed our self esteem to be low. I hope this video can be a poor replacement for some with low self esteem. I want to be their confidence so bad, it hurts....
