  • I'm fairly convinced I know this person, do you recall his name and if so was it Michael? If it is the person I'm thinking of, this is just one of many things they do on bikes that shock me, I've only just managed to convince him to wait at reds...

  • @JustMeDarrenG It's possible, I can't remember as it was almost 3 years ago now.

  • @lsmike I'll get him to watch the video and see, I'm almost certain though as he cycles to work through that area to work (Catford Broadway area)

  • Didnt a lady cyclist get killed in london by a lorry turning left. Im not a cyclist nor live in london but i know full well not to undertake HGV`s

  • @CH1CKENQUIFF Yeah lots of cyclists sadly. It's not the only cause though, there are plenty of cases of aggressive skip lorry drivers overtaking and left hooking or doing other dangerous stuff, so there is fault on both sides of the debate.

    p.s. I used to be a v. keen motorcyclist, I miss it.

  • @lsmike

Yes, im a keen motorcyclist but i think cyclists have a worse deal then us bikers...

A motorbike can quickly get out of danger. Not many people respect cyclists as permitted road users so i do feel for them... esp when someone gets killed... inc that soldier ho recently got killed by a lorry!

  • Had a similar heart-in-mouth feeling yesterday. Waiting for a bus saw a kid doing a no hander on his bike (he had his hands in his pockets presumably coz it was cold) ride out from a side road almost into the path of a car. Good driver saw him and went nice and wide.

  • I did speak to him afterwards, he was a really nice guy. It's easy to dismiss this sort of behaviour, but remember we're all humans and all capable of mistakes so I'm not so keen to denigrate his actions myself.

  • The problem is it's not obvious that you shouldn't undertake HGVs - because nobody would do it if they knew the risks.

The question is how to educate riders (apart from the Darwinian method!). In this example if I was desperate to pass I would have done it aggressively up the centre line, but people think it is safer to hug the kerb.

  • It's funny only because it wasn't as serious as it could have been :-(

If you're sure the traffic won't move, I don't mind people filtering but when it's going steadily, that's just crazy!

  • So close he had to stop. Hopefully he will have learnt a lesson there. Did you speak to him ?

Nice clear vid, new camera ?

  • Stupid, totally irresponsible and stupid. No wonder they are being squashed.
