Bauer's is better in my opinion, though harder to play...requires mammoth hands. Sounds great on a concert grand.

Although I still prefer Myra Hess' versions, this is very lovely. I've always loved Bauer's playing, and the more of him on YT the better.

I'm curious about the order of precedence of Bauer's and Hess's transcriptions. Any idea ?

I can't say for sure who wrote his or hers first, but Dame Myra's was published in 1926 and Bauer's was published in 1932.

So I would assume that she probably wrote hers first.
