@gpal54 I certainly agree with you about his voice. The irony of your comment however is that Bing benefited greatly from the technology of his time. Prior to his first recordings they developed better recording quality and standards that gave the artist a more intimate tone. Additionally, later (ummm actually the 1940's) he pushed strongly to recording his radio show as opposed to live. Based on the perfected recording quality of the day.

Yes, I agree that Bing Crosby's great voice and all the deep manly voices are non-existent today. Truly sad. My theory is that when the atomic bomb was released toward the end of World War II, the radioactive particles flew around the world and genetically altered the structure of the male vocal chords of the new born at the time ("baby boomers") and all the future generations to come. It is like having all the men being exposed to a large dose of helium gas that create high pitch voices.

I was just being sarcastic, because in my opinion (along with many other older folks), contemporary singers' voices are disappointingly poor in comparison to those of over 50 years ago and longer. Fortunately, the wonderful voices of Bing Crosby and the like have been immortalized in recordings for the present generation and future to appreciate.
