  • thanks, really enjoy your musings [my wife and I]!

  • do you think revelation was written in about the 40"s?and do you think paul is speaking of john in 2 corin.12:3,4?

  • It seems more chronologically accurate to keep Revelation as written later than 1Peter but we can agree to disagree on this. Which is honestly the first time I have since reading many of your material.

    God Bless, Ralph J Smolucha

  • Rev 3:10 says, “Since you have kept my command to endure patiently” shows that suffering has already taken place (1Peter/present reality). Then comes the “prediction” of protection against “the hour of trial” (latter part of Rev 3:10).

Even 1Peter 4:12 states, “…don’t be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering”. Seems like a bizarre statement if Rev3, which predicted protection from the “hour of trial” was written before 1Peter!

  • Mr. Preston you said in an e-mail reply to my comment of morning musing 1-20-12 “The indisputable fact is that Revelation 3 is predictive, while 1Peter speaks of the present reality of what had, ostensibly, been predicted”.

The only thing I see predicted in Rev 3 is protection from the “hour of trial to come that is going to come upon the whole world”

  • Thank You!

  • And if I my ask a question about Rev 3:12. My NIV says ......."the New Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God". Do you know if "which is coming" is the Greek word mello?. If so doesn’t that prove that Rev chap 21-22 which speak of the New Jerusalem was about to come. If so, maybe you can do a morning musings about it. With His Love/God Bless.

  • God then promises them in the later part in Rev. verse 10 that because they did endure He would protect them from ""the hour of trial" about to come; which I believe is the AD70 terror. That would imply strongly (if I’m correct) that Rev. must be written after 1Peter but still before AD70 (I am a preterist you know).

  • You asserted that due to the similarities (and i believe they were right on) Revelations must've been written before 1Peter. My thoughts were that since Rev 3:10 says "since you've kept my command to endure patiently...." then it might be better to see that statement as referring to an "enduring" they already did which we see in 1Peter.

  • Excuse my inability to post my comments in order. I think i got it right now. I will post again in the right order.

  • @SuperRalph76

Ralph, thanks for the comments-- and no offense taken at all. Notice that in both Peter and Revelation you have an already aspect of suffering, but, an impending intensification that is predicted as well--> 1 Peter 1:5ff / Rev. 1:9-- 3:10f. The indisputable fact is that Revelation 3 is predictive, while 1 Peter speaks of the present reality of what had, ostensibly, been predicted. Hope this clarifies things a bit, and thanks for watching!

  • Dear Mr. Preston, first off let me say your exegesis of scripture has been more of a blessing to me than I can really say. I by no means want to write with any intentions of disrespect for I truly honor your work. However, I felt compelled to write a comment to address what I see as an "assumption gone wrong" in this latest morning musings about the correlation of 1Peter chap.4 and Rev. chap 3.

  • It amazes me how the futuristic view will uses those scriptures for things yet to come and get away with it because of their creedal authorization that was written from those who were spiritual blind to see that all things were made new and how all things were fulfilled ...lol

  • Great stuff Don! Another nail in the futurist coffin! God bless!
