  • Jackie I thank God for you and your thoughtfulness to document your journey related to neck surgery.I too will be having this surgery on March 2,2012.My surgery will be on C4-C7. Your video really gave me alot of insight into what I will actually be experiencing first hand and not just some textbook description.I will now ask for YOUR prayers because as you know I have some anxiety.I have three children ages 10,8,and 3 and I am worrying about them as well;how they will adjust.Thanks.God bless.

  • I just had this surgery 1 week ago. Best decision of my life. I had complete numbness in my left arm for 8 month prior. I woke up in the recovery room and the numbness and pain was gone. Unbelievable. I was home the next day eating solid foods, no collar, today is my first day of driving. If your having this same pain do it! I lost 0% range of motion side to side and up and down.

  • Thank you for the helpful video. I will be having surgery in one week.

  • @LaurMitMom Wonderful!!!! You'll feel so great when you wake up with no pain. Wishing You THE BEST!!!

  • I can't even imagine. I'm in pain on and off but it's like your pain but no numbness. but this surgery? Oh heck no.

  • @dasheekee I'm soo glad I had the surgery. No more pain. I was hurting so bad.

  • Hi Miss Jackie,I came across your video in search for more info on what I will be having done Feb 7th 2012.I am having a c-3 c-4 disc replacement & c-5 c-6 anterior cervical disectomy fusion,I am so nervouse the closer that date comes, but more excited for the pain to go away!!!You are an inspiration!!I hope things have been well for you !!!I have also decide to make a video of my journey starting the day of the surgery,I hope you will check it out.

  • @topshepherds I'm so glad i had the surgery and i would do it again. I'm so happy now. SEND me your video when you make it so i can see it okay. thanks a whole lot.

  • @topshepherds I will be having the same surgery on the same two discs in one week. I am in so much pain and have lost so much function in my left arm, I am looking forward to some relief. I'm nervous about the surgery, but I know God will be with me.

  • Hi Jackee, enjoyed your video. I am scheduled next week for my surgery on 01/18/12. I am going to have my left hand carpatunel surgery done at the same time, then have the right hand done later. I am starting to have doubts about having both surgeries at the same time oh well, hopefully I will be able to sleep all night. I had back surgery last year, I am tied of hurting. Hopefully my surgery goes as well as yours did. GOD bless you, and hope you continue with a speady recovery.

  • Thank you Jackee for posting your videos, I'm having my surgery on the 13th of Dec. and I'm so nervous.

  • @Weeze727 You will be fine. When I woke up from surgery I was brand new. I felt so good! If i had it to do all over again i would have the surgery again. You're in my Prayers. God is the great physician and he will be in charge directing the doctors.

  • Hi Jackie,

I just had my surgery done 1 0/25/11. After two nights I came home. My pain is intense and I had no idea it would hurt this much. I have tried to get up and walk down the hall etc but I have shooting pain in the back of my neck and the other shoulder that didn't even hurt before surgery. I have been able to eat and swollow but that is a pretty good chore. How many more days am I going to be moving like Frankenstein? I'm very frustrated. Am I being inpatient?

    Thanks

  • @plt2099 Hi The body takes time to heal!!! You have been through a lot. Try really really hard to rest and relax. You'll be up to your normal duties in no time. I was told to take a Vitamin C and a lot of orange juice to help the healing process. Thanks and keep in touch.

  • Hi Jackee,

Your video is SO inspiring ...I am having the op on three levels in a few weeks time and am nervous ... I am in so much pain at the moment, I am praying to God that I will feel better afterwards ... I would love to stay in touch. xxx

  • @tasaseac Since my surgery I feel like a new person. If i had to have the surgery again I would do it again. I'm so happy. Thanks for watching my video. Glad i could help.

  • Hello Jackee! I just had this surgery 10 days ago. I just went for my follow-up appt yesterday and they told me I could go without my collar. This morning I woke up stiff as a board, but I've been sleeping in a collar of one form or another since APRIL! Anyway, I wanted you to know that I searched and found your videos on the experience, and it was SO helpful to me, to put my mind at ease. THANKYOU for sharing with us-it gave me alot of comfort! ~Mindy

  • @grommie959 Hi Mindy!!!!!! I'm so happy everything went well for you!!!! No more pain!!!! Glad I could help. ~~ jjackeeeeee ~~

  • @sybryant09 I`m sooo glad you had your surgery and you feel better. I`m happy I could help you. Thank you so much. I`m wishing you all the best. ~~ jjackeeeeee~~

  • Hi Ms. Jackee, I had my ACDF on 10/13/11 and I am so glad I looked at your video, I woke up from surgery I had a soft collar only. I have no pain at all as well, just discomfort. I feel so good. Thank you for your video.

  • @sybryant09 your very welcome. Glad I could help. I am so happy I had the surgery.

  • im just browsing the internet because i love learning. came across your video. just wondering, has the titanium plate restricted your movement in any way? besides no pain, whats different?

  • @murdockpt Hi!!! Thank you for watching my video. I have no pain. I have no side effects. I can not feel the titanium plate at all. It's like it's not even there. I feel brand now and I can perform all my normal activities. If I had to have the surgery all over again I would do it again and again. It has helped me so much.

    ~~ jjackeeeeee~~

  • thank you for posting this video. i just came across this after doing a search because i think this is the same surgery i am going to have in the next few months. i was assaulted by a gang member in 1996 with a 3 foot lead pipe to my head, which collapsed C6 into C7. I, like you, have done physical therapy, I've had epidural injections and no relief really. I'm hoping this will solve my problems of pain and numbness that run down my left arm and into my hand. thank you again.

  • Hello and thanks for posting. I am having Anterior Cervical Diskectomy Fusion at C5-C6, C6-C7 & C7-T1 on 10/05/2011 with bone grafts being taken from the hip. I was more than "freaked out" about the surgery, prayer has calmed my anxiety and just looking forward to being pain free.

  • @111dph111 I'm so glad I had this surgery. If I had it to do again. I would do it over and over. I feel like a brand new person. Best wishes in your surgery. God is the great physician. Peace and Blessings. jjackeeeeee

  • Awe, your so awesome & brave! :D

God bless you & your familyy (:

  • I am going to have surgery in one month .Fusion at C6-C7 and I am very nervous!!

  • @Davaro65 I've had the same surgery ACDF @ C6-C7 on 8/22/2011 & I was scared to death & very nervous as I've never been put to sleep or had surgery before. I was having moderate to severe right upper arm & scapula pain for over a year, Some days were better than others. I had surgery at 9AM & had dinner @ 6PM. I didn't have to wear a collar & I didn't have any trouble swallowing. My doc said I had very well developed neck muscles so I'm guessing it was a little tough to get in-good luck!

  • No injury here either. Thank you for your kindness and God Bless!

  • I know, it's been a long road and he's really just ready to get it done at this point. He's sick of trying "one more thing" but we're told that this is very, very rare in someone so young so I guess the Drs have just wanted to make sure we've tried everything before surgery. Hoping we get our results today!

  • @Jarhead2015 Yes. I understand. The doctors have to take all precautions before doing surgery on some one so young. I work in a hospital. I did not have an injury or anthing to cause my pain. It just came on all of a sudden. Good Luck. Enjoy your day.

  • We are awaiting MRI results on our 16 year old son who has pain with the same disc you had, on going for 16 months now. We were told that he will most likely have to have this surgery, thank you for your post so we are prepaired for what is to come.

  • @Jarhead2015 if I had to have the surgery all over again. I would do it again. i feel SO good now. WOW! 16 MONTHS HOW COULD he deal with that of pain for SO long.????

  • 19 months ago I was hit by a train and PT didn't help so I am going to have this done. Thanks for your post helps me know what I'm in for.

  • @27mdh I"m sorry to hear you were hit by a train. Thank God you're alive!!! God saved you. Yes. i have my surgery 7/6/10 and I'm so glad I have the surgery. If I had it to do all over again I would have the surgery again. The only problem I had after the surgery was it was sooo difficult to swallow. It hurt to even swallow spit or water. Other than that I feel brand new. God Bless You!! You are going to be so happy after surgery.

  • @luminutty1 I just had the surgey done 2 days ago. I also suffer from anxiety I also was worried about the swallowing problem. After the surgery I could hardly swallow a couble drops of water. But 24 hours later my throat is much better I can even swallow pills and eat anything I was just wondering how yours went

  • im 27 and I was in a car accident FEB 2nd and I just had this surgery done and I know what exactly what you mean about the sore throat it was hard for me to eat speak, my staples were just taken out today, I wonder how long will the sore throat last, I dont know how I stumbled upon this video but I felt like I was the only one that had been through something like this. PS. my dr is DR Dunn out of Las Vegas and he and his staff were great.

  • @vegasiassac Im sorry you was ina car accident. The sore throat lasted a little over a weekand take your time getting better because the wound have to heal from the inside out. Be safe and keep in touch.

  • I am going to have this done on April 5th for my c5 and c6. Thank you for posting this video. It puts my mind more at ease. I wasn't nervous in the slightest until my wife started freaking out... lol. She is a nurse, so she sees surgeries that have gone wrong all too often. It is like I told her, though - I am in so much pain that I am willing to try just about anything at this point! Thanks again.

  • @jaxager I promise you it will be such a relief once you have the surgery. If I had it to do all over again i would have the surgery over and over. The only problem I had was after the surgery I hurt to swallow, even to swallow water or spit it hurted. But other than that I feel wonderful. God is the ultimate physician. I will be praying for you. You will be sooooooooooo happy after the surgery. Have a party after its all over. Keep in touch.

  • My spine specialist has proposed this surgery, C6, C7 "anterior cervical discestomy and fusion". I am a 48 year male that has suffered from cervical and lumbar pain for the last 10 years. I have had every type of treatment u could think of, over that time period, including a vicoden addiction for three years, (2002 to 2005). I too, am scared to death about having this surgery, but your strength and faith in god has made me stronger too and I will get the surgery. Thank you soooo much !

  • @luminutty1 Always remember no matter what the situation or circumstance God is in control of every situation. God is your doctor in the operating room. Every thing we go through with GOD increases our faith and gives us another testimony. I'm so glad you stopped by my channel. Stay encouraged in the Lord He is with you and just a breath away. Peace and Blessings to you. and keep in touch.

  • wow! youre sooooo brave. i have to have this surgery,, but im too scared...guess its pain for life for me, YAY!! not.

  • @lexyota I'm so happy i had this surgery. I was in so much pain. If I had to have it again I would have it again. I feel so much better. God is in control of all things even surgery!!!!

  • Thank you JJackeeeee for your post. I just had this surgery on Tuesday (5 days ago) and I appreciate learning what to expect. The girl in my surgeons office said she felt so good that she went back to work the day after surgery (??) So I really wasn't sure what to expect!! She had one level disk fusion, I had three levels...so the degree of injury was not the same...but.I can tell you that I'm still in pain! I will look for another update of yours to see how you have progressed. God Bless.

  • Thank you for posting this. Online is full of negative comments and lack of successfull surgeries. I am a 37 yr stay at home Christian mom of 3 which I homeschool. My pain is unbearable and have decided to do my 3 level ACDF in a couple weeks. It really refilled my soul to know that there are people out there with success and no pain. I have been praying for healing for last decade, only wanted God to do my surgery but I have decided to let God direct someone elses hand instead. Thanks again.

  • @734Greenhouse First of all, I applaud you for being a stay-at-home mom. Good for you. You have one of the hardest jobs raising children and taking care of the home. James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick......God is directing in the operating room. What a wonderful testimony when the Lord heals you!!! I would have the surgery again without hesitation. I have never known such pain like I before my surgery. I have five kids and 4 grandchildren. You will be so happy!!

  • @734Greenhouse The worst thing about having the surgery was that it felt like i had a big apple stuck in my throat and it was really really hard to swallow .....even water and soup......but other than that...Thank God for his healing power!!! Amen!!!! GOD IS THE ULTIMATE PHYSICIAN!!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this. Yours is the best video on here I've watched.

  • @artisticgypsy You very welcome!!!! Glad I could help you out!!! Everything is in God's hands.

  • Mine, next month will be C6 C7 with no discectomy, due to a car accident. Thanks for putting this helpful information out there. I will be having to wear a neck collar too. Wonder if mine will be like yours.

  • Glad it helped you! Thanks for sharing!

  • @EarthREALTOR THANK YOU. IF i HAD TO DO IT AGAIN I WOULD HAVE THE SURGERY. I FEEL WONDERFUL..HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  • Hey thank you for this video i had the exact same surgery 1 week ago i hope you are doing well

  • @kjdscorpio Glad this video helped you. I'm doing well. I'm so glad I had the surgery.

  • Glad u r doing ok had my surgery on 7/13/2010 and u r right swallowing is the hardest and i go through a bag of halls a week and resting is hard thank God we had a recliner , i had C3-C7 done so i too have a long healing process thanx 4 sharing may God continue to heal ur body & soul

  • @daffyduckblack TAKE YOUR TIME HEALING AND DON'T RUSH. YOU MAY BE LOOKING GOOD ON THE OUTSIDE REMEMBER THE INSIDE HAS TO HEAL AS WELL. THANK GOD YOU HAVE A GREAT SUPPORT SYSTEM.

  • I made it girl - thanks for your encouragement the night before surgery--I came home earlier this afternoon and took a great nap in my own bed. The swallowing, you were right on cue about that one - so glad it is done, over, and guess what, no more numbness in right hand or left. Woke this morning for the first time in a long time to no numb or tingling in hands. Amen! God Bless.

  • @lucysnow AMEN!!!!! I was thinking about you and praying for you. Because surgery is No Joke. God is in control and the doctors know what they are doing but there is still a fear. I'm soooo glad you are doing well. I'm so happy for you. I know what it is to wake up and feel no pain Amen....God is so good to us!!!!! @(^_~)@

  • Really? That's great, no pain any longer? One question I forgot to ask my doctor is if I would have full range of motion...do you have any thoughts on that?

  • @lucysnow Hi Lucy: You know when you wake up you are going to have the collar on. Sometimes I get pain in my neck trying to turn my head far to the right.....like when you are driving and trying to back up or look far to the right or the left..sometimes there is slight pain. It takes time for the inside to heal..even though the outside looks good. Be very careful and get plenty of rest. take your time getting healed.

  • @lucysnow The worst thing about the surgery is that it's going to hurt trying to swallow. it felt like I had a whole apple stuck in my throat. It even hurt to swallow my spit. I was on clear liquids for almost two weeks. My throat was so sore.

  • Thank you for responding and your prayer, lets just call you my angel for the moment. How are you doing? My concern is when you mentioned that you could 'feel' the plate...not real crazy about being able to do that. Kathy

  • @lucysnow Hi Kathy: If you are in a lot, lot, lot of pain like I was you are going to be sooo happy after the surgery. I am a new woman. God made me over during this surgery. I feel brand new!!!

  • I'm scheduled for surgery for the same procedure tomorrow morning. I appreciate your video. It gives me encouragement because I'm sure terrified right now. Thank you and I hope that you are doing really great by now.

  • @lucysnow Please don't be scared!! God is in control of everything and the doctors know what they are doing!!! You are in good hands. I'm so happy i had the surgery. .If I had to do it again I would have the surgery again. I said a prayer for your speedy recovery!! Keep in Touch!!!!!

  • God is good and within time you'll be up and about hopefully better than before keep doing what your doing and soon time will tell and pay off. I no its hard after any surgery cause the healing process is so time consuming but its worth it along with lots of prayers

  • @tootsiepollard Yes.....it is very very hard...but God is Good. I just have to keep believing and trusing in Him. Thank you for watching my video and leaving a comment. I really really really appreciate it. Love you and take care of yourself.
