my Grandpa was in the SS 3rd panzer div. Totenkopf and fought bravely in the invasion of Russia. He survived the war and said he killed 13 or 14 Russians with his Kar98k. Even helped to blow up multiple t-34.

i ll tell you something i love this games and you know wath when i played call of duty 1 in stalingrad when i was 9 i learned to hate war maybe is only my own thinking but when i played that and i saw those men dieying i saw their faces and was just a computer game but it teached me to hate war

Then in the early 80's it was my turn. Angola and all that came with bush warfare. Seven day patrols and landmines and fighting Cubans and Soviet equipment.... Maybe more kids should watch movies like yours Biltongbru. All I know is that my child will not be repeating history.

Thanks for this post "Granddad ww1 Delville Wood" .....most horrific battle for South African forces ever, France 1916, 3 days of hell in this God forsaken woods, 80% casualty rate....our forces were annihilated by German shelling and frontal attacks....they still did their job and kept the forest...

I can just imagine what your granddad went through....maybe he just never saw fit to talk about the horror....most of the bodies were never even found on the battlefield for proper burial....just got lost with the inferno of shells and loose soil.....

I hope you have his medals to be preserved for your kids and their kids.....and be a reminder of the senselessness of war...

You are right but in the desert campaign '41-'43 the Brits used the no3 and in the 1944 European campaign used the no4....I think a mistake with COD....

He sounds like he is south african,thier have been conflicts in that area right up until the early 90's.many more in the 70's and 80's.check the history,rhodesia is a good place to start.angola,thier are many other small african countries that had problems with insurgents,sth africa helped clean this scum up.This guy could even be rhodesian,they were at war until the 80's.he is not to young to have been in any of these conflicts..

Evan; yes, need license and that is an issue; the k98 used later in the vid is licensed and use it as hunting rifle: if you look careful you will see scope mounting holes. (I removed the scope for this movie!)

a better soldier comes down to charachteristics of any specific soldier, such as fitness, mentality, moral, experiance. All Commonwealth soldiers were great fighters, it was together that the Italians and Germans were ejected from North Africa.
