how wrong you are. most relaxed period of his life was recording this album in a basement recording area surrounded by sleeping bags while he lived and recorded with his 2 best friends. this is his best work.

I think he was just exploring other things to do with his voice rather than scream his ass off for 12 songs straight. In my opinion, I think this is the best Foo Fighters album as far as vocals go.
