I'm trying to fruck up the business of can flipping, therefore, you mine the good stuff for yourself and jettison only regular cans with junk in them, such as 1 unit of Veldspar in each can. As payback, you want rat flippers to open them to discover their shit. If enough people do this, can flippers can bet on flipping junk cans at some point. Fail-proof solution is never jettison to feed the rats, but profits take more time.
It really works. Can flippers can be confused: Continuously jettisoning 1 unit of Velspar to leave behind garbage cans (dang appropriate name) , while mining for your own full shipboard load of any ore, has proven to be a nice payback for can flipper rats as evidenced by the grape vine and personal observation and chat channels.
@eXovenom733 find an asteroid on your actual screen, not in that overview. then you right click on it and go "add (name of asteroid) to overview" then you wil be able to see asteroids like that :)

Im really thinking about giving this game a shot.. I am beyond sick of WoW and since Im starting on a school for game designers I would be an outcast if I didn't play something time consuming :P

I heard of a way of freaking up can flippers, that is, while mining continuously jettison 1 unit of veldspar until you load up, leaving flippers to suck on veldspar. Is this true?
I heard of a way of freaking up can flippers, that is, while mining continuously jettison 1 unit of veldspar until you load up, leaving flippers to suck on veldspar. Is this true?
@Rawr5649 the answer to your question is yes, most things that you build will be built from minerals that you get from mining. However manufacturing is not the most noob friendly of career paths. The better your skills are the cheaper you can make items for. Coming into manufacturing your going to be selling items against people with perfect skills. this means they can sell stuff cheaper than you can. Its going to take a while to be able to manufacture items for less than you can buy them.
@Rawr5649 Confused can flippers: It Works! Continuously jettisoning 1 unit of velspar to leave behind garbage cans (dang appropriate name) , while mining for your own full shipboard load, has proven to be a nice payback for can flipper rats as evidenced by chat channels, the grape vine and personal observation.
Refining is more profitable in a way because you can build ships with what you refine (thats what i do) so for example building 2 destroyers might earn you more.
@kaiotie1 I go agree, however this is planned for a later tutorial. With new players having so much to take in. I would rather get everyone understanding the basics first. At a later date they can choose which ways they want to increase there income.
Better way to sell without wasting profit!! Find the price per 1 Veldspar, multiply by how much you have. Then find the price per item of Tritanium, multiply by how much you will get if you refine your Veldspar. Compare the 2 prices, and decide which to sell.
how do I increase my mining skill when the mining skill book says I cant use it because I have already and the miner teacher says he has no jobs for me? do I just mine asteroids to improve my skill?
@GamerFollower This is a week old, but just in case you are still wondering:
go in to your character sheet and open your training que. From there, find the industry tab and open it. You should see a skill labled "mining". Drag that skill over to the training que and it will begin training. You probably started out already knowing the mining skill thus do not need the book to train it. Happy mining!
Thank you so much. I'm really new to the Eve Online Universe. Actually I found the game brand new for 6 euros (I live in Europe) so I decided to give it a shot. Seems like an amazing and immersive experience that requires lots of persistence ;)
@TtheWriter I'm told by soomeone I know the value of minerals fluctuate daily following the supply and demand law it would be pointless to say "this mineral is always in high-demand, so mine that!"
@TtheWriter rarly is it. however I this tutorial is about how to mine at a basic level. not maxmising profits. Until your mining the ore, refining it at 100% transporting to your POS and building titans. Your not really MAXIMISING your profit. however this is a nice way for a new player to start making some money for his effort.
@TtheWriter A very simple thing to do as a noob is to just check the prices of items in the Region or even in the station if your at the tutorial one. I'm not sure what the site is called, but they're's a website that will tell you what ores are found in each start system thingy. I was looking at the prices on the market and saw that the prices for Scordite were quite high, although they were high I figured people would buy condensed because the price was lower and it had a higher output.
nice tutorial mate, just started eve, and im like, erm what do i do, but atleast iv lern something new here, and it was simple.. hope you make more ;)
sounds interesting. but each time i tried the free trial i ended up getting bored after just a few days. never got that far. was just so tedious, and boring. got caught up in flying from station to station to find the best prices.:( not very interesting gameplay.
can u recomend a good line of action to make the game interesting from the start?
@stormscion got a question for u. all the expansions and the improved graphics iv'e been reading about. are they included in the client i just downloaded. the one called Dominion? or do i need to download seperate expansions to get the best visuals? am running win 7.
@CT2507 you can download any client and then just log in and it will update to the latest "version". So if you have dominion already and you are playing then you have latest game expansion.
@EvECoPilot sory. gave this game 3 honest chances... am not doing that again. if i need to struggle to find the game captivating, then its not worth it.
Yea, this is a good video, but there is a lot more to mining than this. Certain techniques like jetcan mining and such help later on. A part 2 of this would be nice! =)
thnx alot man this really help can u plz make more i would really like to know wat parts to buy and wat r the best ship[ stuff like that but the movies are great ty!! =]

It NEVER occured to me that raw ore could be worth more than the refined metal. That seems sort of counter productive, as far as pricing goes...

grandpapy360 2 years ago
You can make money tons of different ways. Including working for or killing other players ;)
megamarsvin 2 years ago
You can make money in many ways. Limit is your imagination. Most popular professions for making money are :
npc killing ( rating ) , mission runing , pirating ( ransoming ) , pvp ( camping ) , mining , trade , manufacturing , exploration ( plex runing ) , wormhole exploration , moon mining , bounty hunting etc...
almost all of those have there subsections like for instance trade , can be station trade , regional trade , contract trade etc ...

Can you make a smaller stack of ore to refine half of? so if the refined ore is less money you are'nt wasting as much ISK?
for example take a stack of 30 and change it to two stacks of 28 and 2. then refine half of the stack of 2?
Beau11315 2 years ago
@Beau11315 There is a minimum amount of ore you need to have for refining. Haven't played in a while though, so I don't know what amount that is.
