  • nevermind....wrong virtualdub site...my bad....make sure you are downloading the right virtualdub

  • Nope....Adaware dont like this program at all....not going on MY PC!

  • @DirtyJimFan I no longer am working with the program so you guyz are on your own.

  • This video is very shaky

  • dude, use deshaker on THIS video, lol, I think I am sea sick..

  • @MrWrecche LOL

  • Thanks for that, was very helpful :)

    - However, I think you should invest in a screen-capture program such as Hypercam, just because it was quite painful to watch.

  • @cyberking42 Yes you're right. A shaky video about a video stabilization program is ironic, no?

  • A lot of upvotes.

    I'm DL'in it

    This better not suck.

    Will report back.

  • @Justin9Noble It's been a while since I used it but its pretty cool for FREE app.

  • @starzship Agreed. FREE and didn't cause my 'puter any probs. But that was what, years ago.

  • Looks like you were getting a BJ while recording this video ??

  • @brossmania hmmmm. yes. I was.

  • @brossmania Aw, I wish. Maybe the next one....

  • do you smoke pot? your voice sounds like your so relaxed and chilled out

  • @sentient1705 LOLOLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @sentient1705 It's medicinal.....

  • great program - its just so time consuming converting your file into AVI's first though.. i cant understand why virtualdub wont accept mpeg4

  • hmm... all those buttons and functions under "file, edit, view, options, filters..." I dunno, I am not such a noob, I know my way around PC programs, however usually don't have the time with 2 jobs I have or I do not want to learn another program, I just want my video to be stabilized. So I found a way, with vReveal , and it's superb button called "1clickfix" . You should try it, I recommend it to everyone! Also include sharpening, grain removal, vivid colors, auto white balance and more

  • @GamerMNE oh, and i forgot to mention the ability to compare original and improved videos one next to another!! better than shown here, try it to believe it!!!

fun fact: this is a commercial version of a military grade software for image stabilization in UAV!!! how cool is that?! :)

  • porn music.

  • the black borders suck bigtime on this..

    final video

  • Is there a software to stabilize AVCHD (MPEG-TS Video file)?

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Download deshaker from ; /w*w.guthspot.se/video/deshaker.h*tm

  • Camtasia!!!!

  • Can you help? I don't seem to have to windows open when I open a video file.

  • It is not a user friendly program. Unless you are a programer and have tons of time to spend frame by frame, for get it. I have several vacation vids to clean up. This will take me years!! Make it user friendly and you got something. Right now I need simple quick and easy.

  • does this work on mac???

  • Not working for me... Optimus 2x 1080p video...

  • Why ruin the video with your shitty ass taste in music?

  • I have a Vado HD (2nd gen) 8GB video camera. It records in H.264 AVI at 30 fps. Can I use the VirtualDub and Deshaker to edit the HD video coming from the Vado HD? Will it work just as you instructed on this video for HD 720p from the Vado HD (2nd gen)? Will the HD picture quality be affected at all?

  • WOW THATS AMAZING IT WORKED FOR ME REALLY WELL

  • Why dident you stableize this Video ??

  • @MitchellRobertsShow

The same reason the bootmaker has his boots broken LOL

  • Great, now I can watch all the Bourne movies and actually see what is happening. ;)

  • MAGIX VideoDelux 16 solve that shaking within a mouse click :)

  • thx my bratha

  • Wiil this work with a Mac?

  • @RobbieWright I don't know. try it

  • @starzship It doesn't.

  • @starzship All I can say is to look on internet for video stabilization programs for mac...

  • THANX FOR POST !!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS FROM BRAZIL. My movie camera hasnt stabilization and this video solve that problem.

  • I've downloaded some .mov from my Kodak Zi8. I've run the Deshaker and the program runs fine. Problem is, the video playback is slow and the audio ends a good 5-6 seconds before the video ends. WTH?

  • Thanx for this video m8

  • Mac?

  • LOL.. your video needs virtual dub.

  • nevermind, its on the virtual dub website, i just didnt pay enough attention.

  • where do i download the deshaker?

  • I need help, there is an error when putting a video in the vdub. It says "Couldn't locate decompresser for format 'avc1' (unknown) "

    help?? :O

  • @essteben "avc1" is a format that VirtualDub cannot read, you need to convert the video to AVI with another soft before sending it to VDub.

There are also lots of different versions of VDub, one of them was modified to import Mpeg2, maybe you could find one that can import avc1, or try to find a import plugin, maybe through AviSynth.

  • You need to "deshake" your tutorial video...

  • Thanks for the tip! Works very well.

  • Question: Where do you get the deshaker plugin?

  • You don't need to use two instances of the plugin for the 1st and 2nd pass.

After the motion estimation is complete, go back into the deshaker plugin and click Pass 2, make your settings for this pass and then click OK..

Technically you won't slow the computer down since one of the plugins will be in 2nd pass mode but two deshaker plugins aren't required.

  • Its not good because it doesnt work with 3gp unfortunately which is what many phones still record in. This format is a common one amongst all hand held devices and should be compatiable tbh. Nice little program otherwise.

  • It don't take my avi's that i converted

  • Heres another useful tip, if you experiment and find a setting that works great go to FILE : Save processing settings and give it a name that you will remember or applies to your video and next time you do the same type of video before you load the video go to FILE : load processing settings and it will be returned to the good settings you saved from the last time.

  • Thanks for tutorial!

    Ok, two questions:

    a) How do you get that second view screen (where it shows those tracking dots during first pass?

    b) How do you control settings of video when I want to save it on my HD.

(The thing is when I go save AVI as.. it saves as a huge file (20 seconds is aroung 1.6 GB))

    Thanks to whoever answers.

It's quite important since I have Flip Mino HD camera and those vids are freakin shaky :D

  • @DivinePonies click Go to top of window click video then compression and pick which one you want, I use (XvidMPEG-4 Codec)

  • @DivinePonies Press F10 will display output window

  • Well I only see version v1.9.9 which doesnt have deshaker 2.4 , so how do i get it.?

    please .....someone tell me.

    Thanks.

  • So why you not deshake your own this video :)

I'm joking, Thanks man, it realy help!!!

  • I really appreciate your post...very thanks from Chile!!!

  • THX so much - but ur own video is shakey XD

  • After you do pass 1 with deshaker you dont add another filter but go to fiters list select deshaker then near the bottom right of the popup window click on "configure" and deshaker opens again and then you set it to pass 2

  • The Deshaker v2.4 can be downloaded from the developer's site:

    guthspot(dot)se/video/deshaker(dot)htm

silly youtube, please replace (dot) with a single full stop

The Deshaker plug in is not loaded in Virtual Dub by default.

  • Thanks for posting this video! I've had to remove a video before because it was just too shaky and unwatchable, I'll give this a go and hopefully have a successful video to show! Thanks again! :)

  • How do yu export it to mpeg4 or quicktime format!

  • ah mannn i love you, i use vdub for 2 years and just now i searched for a stabilization solution and i ran into your vid, love ya man, no gay or smth :))

  • Thanks for the vid! I downloaded it and followed the steps but it didn't have deshaker feature anywhere in the video and filter section. what am i doing wrong? plus all the videos i imported, it said it couldn't play it. please help anyone...thanks

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks starzship

previously i was tangaled with this other tutorial from this other site but didn't work for me.. you just made my day !

  • maybe I am so dumb that I exactly followed this tutorial and didn't try anythung on my own ,,, my mistake :) Problem slved and I thank you very much ,, by the way the unstabilized training video convince us more to learn how to stabilize videos: great job ..God Bless you!

  • Thank You...Instruction video-ironically-UN-stabilized! ;-)

  • Thank you.

  • How about running this tutorial through the stabilization software? Did you film it from a motorcycle?

  • haha, No, I'm done with this video. Yes, I filmed it as I rode my bike.

  • @starzship You got some skill son to film a tutorial riding a motorcycle... LOL... In reality dude thanks for the tip this ting save my live. It stabilize the S out of some scene that for me were ruin.

  • @illegallawyer LOL!!

  • wee thanks dude

  • Oh, just one problem. My Panasonic Lumix saves video in *.mov and Sony DVD Handycam in *.vob. VirtualDub refuses them. It is tedious to convert a short 20MB .mov to 220MB .avi file, stabilise it and save-as final 160MB.avi. Am I doing the process right? Is there a simpler way that you can share, Starzship? Thanks again.

  • Yes. I'm not sure, maybe someone else has a solution- please post it/ I think converting the files is the only way to go....

  • @onesadonesad you can download a mov virtual dub plugin, use google, write virualdub .mov

  • @elkelkaposzastalanit Thanks for response. Google threw up many hits. Really not sure, kindly could you give me url for ".mov" plugin that has worked for you - so VirtualDub can import mov files? Thanks again.

  • @onesadonesad remember, you must have quicktime installed on your computer.

Unfortunately, I can't post links I don't know why. But there's a page called videohelp, find it in google (virtualdub .mov), there's a plugin just for .mov

  • Many thanks to you Starzship!

Your video explained very well...I used VirtualDub and it did stabilise a monkey clip I have.

Before this, it was keyframe adjustments; you saved my eyes with your sharing video.

    Thanks again Starzship!

  • How do you save the video?

  • Either file or edit, there is "save video as avi"

  • I also can't check or uncheck, there is no box to do so.

  • You can't check or uncheck what? I'm not sure what you're talking about.

  • Extremely helpful - thanks for taking the time to share this with us!

  • That stablised footage shot on your bike looks fantastic. Thanks for making this video!

  • Great tutorial. Thanks! I just ran it following your directions. Any "tweaks" that you haven't mentioned that might be useful?

  • All I can say is experiment. I haven't tweaked it much, I have my setting I usually use. But there are a lot things to change on it. Good luck, have fun!

  • wuuuuuoww

  • Great Video and great software, thanks for the tutorial i will use it soon :)

  • Another good program that would help you would be CamStuidos. You could screen capture you tutorials for free.

  • ok thanks

  • Know any Deshaker HD ?

  • global- no. But I know some video editing software have video stabilization add-ins.

  • Can you eliminate the annoying black bar at the edge of the video like "Avid" can using this program?

  • frilink- see my comment reply to noteck.

  • HAHAHA you're right.. But this video is not that shaky, is it? I've done worse. Thanks 4 watching.

  • how can i change the output video resolution?????

  • atyy123- do you mean like various resolution sizes such as 640/480 or 320/240, etc. ? I don't know. I never tried that. You need to look at all the available options on the program to see if it's possible to change resolution.

  • ok. rather i have got problems whit tha aspect ration. if i take a video in 4:3 there is not problem in the output aspect. But if i take it in 16:9 (wide) the output aspect will never 16:9. even if i set the video aspect( right buttton/aspect ratio/ source)

  • why dont you use the stabilisator for this video? ;-)

  • There's a program called Debut Video Recorder which is free and will let you record videos of your desktop.

  • flatfoot- ok I'll keep that in mind. I don't make a lot of videos that show what's on the computer screen. Thanks!

  • I have a problem with my video turning blue when I save it. I play it in VLC. Or when I play it in others the sound is off. What do you suggest?

    thanks

  • MYtube- what is VLC? The sound needs to be adjusted by going to "audio", then "interweaving". Leave the upper setting alone. For the bottom section. See where it says "use positive values if...etc etc" in the white box, put in -1000. Try this and see if it works. Use a short test video. If you need to put in positive value, just put in like 1000, not +1000. Let me know about VLC means.

  • Wikipedia- VLC media player is an open source, free software media player written by the VideoLAN project. VLC is a portable multimedia player, encoder, and streamer supporting many audio and video codecs and file formats as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It is able to stream over networks and to transcode multimedia files and save them into various formats. VLC used to stand for VideoLAN Client, but that meaning is now deprecated.

  • I have not seen my videos turn blue. You play it in VLC, but what format is the video saved as? avi? Mpeg? If the format is VLC, I have no idea about that format, as this is 1st time I ever heard of it. So you are running your video in pass one, then pass 2, then saving as avi?

  • Hey, you're a star! I spent all morning trying to get Deshaker to work, but didn't realise until I saw your vid that I needed to turn off Pass 1 before doing Pass 2, (and it wasn't mentioned on the other Tutorial I looked at) so I was getting all the white dots on my finished Vid. Thanks a million, much appreciated.

  • lainp- Glad to be of help!

  • Yes!!- I spent frustrating hours doing the same!!!

make sure pass 1 is: UNCHECKED !!! when doing pass 2

Then the transformation will happen xD

  • Thanks for the vid, it´s just what i was looking for!

I have to save the video in .avi format. What´s the 3rd pass that you said in this tutorial?

    Thanx

  • hombre- after the 2 passes, go to "file" "save as avi". Then your file will be saved as avi file.

  • This is fantastic! I used VirtualDub for many years and didn't know about this plugin. Thanks for showing it!

  • Hi, I tried the deshaker inplug out but now when I play the corrected video I see the black bars on the top and bottom shaking like crazy. Could you tell me how to get rid of that?

  • noteck- ok the black bars are there because you need to set the borders. There are several choices.

On pass 1, make sure "remember discarded areas to next frame" is checked (I'm not sure if this affects the next thing I 'm about to tell you to do, but it makes sense to me). After you process pass 1, on pass 2, check mark "use past and future frames to fill in border" . See also "Edge Compensation". I usually use "none" but you need to experiment.

  • Also, see "soft borders"? When you check this, the borders are blurred so the filled in borders are not so noticeable. Also you can used "cropping" . do you see it after you choose pass 1 . the cropping is on the right side bottom. Main thing is make a short video. Make copies of it. then experiment with different settings. I have not used deshaker recently and there is so much I hae not tried myself. Well, congrats on installing and working with the program.

  • Thank you very much for the responses! I will try your tips tomorrow.

  • hey out of curiosity do you know whats a good resize for a vid at 1280 by 720

  • Danny- I don't know. Perhaps experiment using copies of the original video.

  • thanx for the vid! I couldn't find anything else than imovie x_o bleh

  • danny- thanks, I've found the program useful too. That's why I wanted to share it on YT.

  • amazing thanks m8!

  • ever-- thanks for commenting!

  • awesome! thanks for the tip

  • you got it ToadY !!

  • GREAT INFO, 5*.

  • Bond- cool man cool!

  • How can i mirror edges ??

  • rghost- before you run the second pass, configure Deshaker: check mark the box- "use previous and future frames for borders" .Also see "edge compensation"? that drop down menu, I usually use "none" large borders. experiment with these settings. I don't like the "zoom" because it tends to make weird zooming on my motorcycle ride videos but depends what is on your videos, you might try it. Make a short test video. Make copies of it. Then try different setting and keep track of what you use.

  • Thank you very much

  • Why won't it take my videos because it plays on windows

  • HMVNHN- what format are your videos? What does the image stabilization program say when you try to load your videos?

  • My videos are "Windows Media Audio/Video file"

It says ASF files are not supported

  • HMVNHN- I guess you will need to find a program that changes the ASF file to AVI or other type of file that the deshaker can work with. Probably there are free converter programs on the net if you look. I'm curious, is the ASF video from your video cam? or?

  • The Advanced Systems Format (ASF) is the file format used by Windows Media. Audio and/or Video content compressed with a wide variety of codecs can be stored in an ASF file and played back with the Windows Media Player (provided the appropriate codecs are installed), streamed with Windows Media Services or optionally packaged with Windows Media Rights Manager.

  • Excellent tut.

    1000 thanks!

  • Thanks! Awesome!

  • thanks Starzship, for the info, i got a video program awhile back and wondered what filters were, now i will be less reticent to try them! linda

  • Thx for everything you saved my video!!!

  • TY MAN .. I really love you :D

  • Thanks! I'm going to try this out

  • One thing I do not mention but is important to know is that it makes your video files larger. Also, you may want to cut any long videos into shorter segments because processing times take long time, depending on the parameter setting you choose. Then put the video segments back together using Win movie maker or whichever movie-making program you use.

  • nice program. good find.

  • Thanks!

  • Nice! thanks for sharing.

  • Good Info Bro Thx!!

  • Cool program thanks for sharing. I still need to get a mount for my camera. This is going to come in handy.
