  • Excelente video! Isso é História... tem muita gente que precisa ver isso....

It has some video of Victor Edelbrock in races?

  • I used to have a 1981 rally car top trumps, one of the cars was a Baja Machine called the Thompson Special.I was only young and I always wondered why it was called that-now i know.A true legend.

  • credit that Pontiac wagon dragging 7,000 lbs out and back and acting as push vehicle.

  • I Got see this car in person. An amaizing machine, built by an amaizing person. It is currently on display in the NHRA Museum in Pomona, CA.

  • @FSTORNG I'll have to go check it out. Thanks for letting us know.

  • mickey thompson made aero dynamic cars popular, he made mickey thompson wrinkle wall tires for traction, hes a genius, so fuck off

  • World Land Speed record CHALLENGER arrives at Bonneville on an open toptrailer!

Modifications made to the car, on site.

Mickey Thompson was true hot rodder!

Great to see this great old footage!

  • My Grandpa actually worked on this car. Roger Beck

  • The REAL LSR is for wheel driven cars.

The jet and rocket cars are more like land-bound aircraft, than cars.

Great to see footage of attempt.

4oo+ mph in a wheel-driven car is a real achievement!

  • If you have ever seen this car in person (it's on display at the NHRA Museum in Pomona, CA) you'll see that besides being the world's fastest man he also have had to had the world's largest testicles to drive it!

  • nice vid, though i would have loved to be at the N.H. speedway when he showed up to drag race his 4 engine record breaker! my boss was at that dragway and he said at that time, he has NEVER seen anything dragracing, that fast.

he said it was there one second and gone the next!!! it was some kind of car show in the mid to late 80s or so.

  • Mickey was the man. 406.6 mph non jet powered.

  • reply to oonaboona - before 1960 even!

  • I know rules are rules, but it seems so unfair. He got the fastest speed at that time - but it doesn't because he didn't go both ways. Perhaps we should try that one with the police. The next time they stop you for speeding, say "Well I was only going one way!"

  • @Perranporth He didn't get the record! He set the one way record. The actual record was 403. something. Then....HE NEVER RAN IT AGAIN. WTF???

  • @oldmusher Unfortunately, one of his engines blew on the return run. so it's not an official speed record but everyone gave him credit.

  • this is great
