Parents need to start early. Our children need to know that the prequels are only to be experiened after the traditional ceremony of an Original Trilogy marathon. Otherwise they'll be surfing around on the internet one day and stumble across one of those prequel movies. And if they don't have anyone to put what they've seen into context, those images will be imprinted in their young minds, and they'll go around thinking that what they saw in those movies was normal and healthy.
Also, we are clearly heretics. Our three-year-old has been observed to race Yoda and Darth Sidious around the bathtub, and he informs me that they're friends but sometimes Sidious is mean.
These guys are on the money, only show the original trilogy to your kids!....If i could i'd burn every single copy of the Special Editions! May the force be with them!

I kept waiting to see my husband in this video haha. These guys sound just like him. And thanks to him, our kids are now just as obsessed with Star Wars as he is.
Funny! Does anybody know what kind of shirt that dad with the hat & sunglasses at the swingset was wearing? The square design with the bird inside on the pockets & back????
This is horrible advice. My kids will have full access to my library of 50+ Star Wars books. No way are they going to be told what is the right way to watch it. Let the kids decide what they like.

kids these days barely remember Star Wars. The Clone Wars series is freaking awesome but it has its flaws but it's good enough to get the kids into Star Wars. I'm only 19 so no kids but there are people I know that have been deprived of Star Wars and my mission is to bring it to them!!!!
@BMReaves1 Last I checked, there is an Etsy store that does a lot of great knitted Star Wars related apparel. Including that set of Yoda ears and various other knick knacks for kiddies.
Damn straight. Episode 4 a new hope is the greatest film of all time, we just fail to realize it! The original movies took you away to far off lands, galaxies, introduced you to endless possibilities, introduced a magnificent mythos that took from all forms of fiction, and revolutionized the way you see movies today. Movies like Citizen Kane are masterpieces of their own design, but I could never watch those as a kid, with Star Wars I can watch it at any time and always enjoy it.
Hello, guys. I'm rhinnawi95, and my parents never introduced me to Star Wars. I first discovered it with the arrival of Attack of the Clones to the cinemas by some fellow first grade friends. I am among the lucky ones to have realized the true value of the original trilogy, and the quality it possesses over the prequel. However, I am not a common case. I ask you to take the advice of these great people in this video, and don't repeat my parents' mistakes. Thanks, and may the Force be with you.
I've had to take on this task with my boys as a single mom. Fortunately it wasn't as hard as it could have been. I've been able to answer their questions easily. Helps to be a fan myself. In fact, they've learned much on their own with repeated viewings. I'm proud of how they've grown.
I absolutely plan on exposing my future son to Star Wars at a very young age. Even teach him the ways of the Jedi. BUT, I LIKE the prequels. I don't care how many stones get thrown at me. Yes some of the acting was terrible, yes there was a lot of silliness, and yes there were some bad characters; but I thoroughly enjoy watching the entire story come together. I still watch Revenge if the Sith just hoping Anakin doesn't make that mistake again. It still elicits excitement and emotion.
I was in a public setting and told my kid how much the Anakin Skywalker portrayed as a younger self in ep. I - III by the "actors" who were cast was a (expletive deleted) representation of the "true" Darth Vader and also how Jar Jar Binks was the devil and should have been shot during the initial droid onslaught on Naboo. I was immediately bagged and thrown into what I can only assume was a van by George Lucas and Hayden Christensen and woke up next to Candy Mountain missing a kidney.
...i do this with my nieces and nephews but they were already contaminated by Episode 1...it will be an uphill battle but i must try...No! there is no try! I WILL DO IT!!! i will make them love the original trilogy!...
I'm 21 and I'm glad my dad (and the rest of my family on both sides) were geeks. It went like this not only for star wars but also for comics, movies, music etc.
This video is so helpful but, guys, I BEG YOU FOR HELP!!! My girlfriend doesnt want to listen to Star Wars because she think its lame. Help me turn her to the dark side... Wait that sounds ackward and bad, but.... reply my comment for your help!
P.S. I know what you think... "Man, you're still with her?" The answer is yes because shes hot and she can... use the force to.... turn on my lightsaber... :P
Trufax: I saw Star Wars seven times the year I was born. (1977). Apparently, I was a very very quiet baby.

@fuqrot It will come. Religion will pass and replacing it will be the SW saga and the divisions over its interpretation. It'll make Northern Ireland look like Sesame Street.
my dad was worried because he gave me the talk a little late, but I came through and I watched them all in the correct order and still have my very first lightsaber.
I feel your pain. My Mom sold all my Star Wars toys for quarters at a garage sale. I saw other boys walking away with my X Wing and Special edition Yoda.
This was written as a JOKE clam down! Except the part saying Jar Jar sucks that's true; he has no purpose in the movies(but I like the Ewoks fyi). I'm not a 40-something year old, hell I'm no where near 40, but I do love the saga. I thought this video was hilarious mainly because I'm doing almost the same thing w/ my God-Son his mother is trying to get him into Star Trek so I give him Star Wars toys, & stuffed animals. It's all as a joke just like this video is trying to make it.

The gratuitous, hateful, and—by now—clichéd attitude toward Jar Jar Binks ruined an otherwise potentially clever piece.
The writers clearly ascribe to the "George Lucas-raped-my-childhood" philosophy of Star Wars typical of forty-something losers who arrogantly believe that Star Wars was created solely for themselves, while simultaneously putting the lie to the notion that they actually love the Saga.

These are the same people that—before the Prequels came out—hated the Ewoks in "Return of the Jedi" with the same fervor now reserved for Jar Jar Binks, yet now hypocritically proclaim the Original Trilogy sacrosanct.
Children like Jar Jar Binks for a reason; a reason these "fans" discarded from their souls a long time ago.
@slone13 : You have to help me with the name of the etsy seller for the Yoda hat. This is a life or death situation. I cruised Etsy, but there are many sellers cranking out lame work and the one you have on your baby is ace. Please help make my year.
@Trinnimar Hi. I can't remember the seller's name, but searching "yoda knit hat" was how we found it. Someone named nightngayle is currently selling one that looks the closest to the one that my daughter wears in the video. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
@slone13 Is that you in the video or did they borrow your little doll baby for the the shoot? That baby in that specific cap is one of the cutest things I have ever seen in all my 54 years. I want to get one and save it for my grandkids b/c both my sons are total Star Wars geeks. They can recite every line from the 1st 3 movies having watched each innumerable times.
Haha, I remember getting this talk when I was 3.

This video may have been meant to be humorous, but that doesn't make it any less true. I someday hope to be a Star Wars mom.

My Mom threw away my At-At, Falcon and Scout Walker toys.
We have a good relationship now, but it's still hard to talk about what happened.

@batman2909
I feel your pain. My Mom sold all my Star Wars toys for quarters at a garage sale. I saw other boys walking away with my X Wing and Special edition Yoda.
I prefer not to think about it.

@batman2909 I think they might have counciling programs for that

This was written as a JOKE clam down! Except the part saying Jar Jar sucks that's true; he has no purpose in the movies(but I like the Ewoks fyi). I'm not a 40-something year old, hell I'm no where near 40, but I do love the saga. I thought this video was hilarious mainly because I'm doing almost the same thing w/ my God-Son his mother is trying to get him into Star Trek so I give him Star Wars toys, & stuffed animals. It's all as a joke just like this video is trying to make it.

Ok, this was beyond awesome.

20 people taught their kids that Jar Jar was cool.

@SomebodyFarted I'm the father of the Yoda baby. I've got no problem with the Ewoks. Never did. Jar Jar, however, is an abomination.

@slone13 : You have to help me with the name of the etsy seller for the Yoda hat. This is a life or death situation. I cruised Etsy, but there are many sellers cranking out lame work and the one you have on your baby is ace. Please help make my year.
Trinnimar 8 months ago
