@quailblaster Hi qb - Thanks. That backing track sounds like one of the many Jamie Aebersold tracks. If you message me I could probably get you copy or you can find them online, likely at the Aebersold site if one of those still exists. -- Mick
@MrVvan69 Thanks, V - It's an Eastman (one of the better Chinese carved archtops) .. I think it says AR803 inside it. I've been hooked on these Eastman's since I first played one ~4 years ago over at Buffalo Brothers. - Mick
Hey Yekkim, you be sounding good. I thought the aliens came and took you away. Man oh man you have come a long ways sense the Vernor's High Way Blues Band. I just bought some raisons yesterday and thought of you. I'm off to the Shiners club. If I can get past the Punks and Bag Lady I'll tell the cats that I saw you playing your ass off on YouTube. Harry Smith says hi. He's doing a little Silent Kill off the Newport Pier eating his favorite lunchmeat. For me...I Want to be Thin.
Raisins are the answer, so don't forget that. Harry? My regards. Are you listening to pop music again? The aliens actually returned me recently, although they took some good parts.
OMG! I didn't know you sent me a message. Thanks to Steve I am reading it now. I remeber when you fixed the piano with a raison in Laguna Beach. My God Mickey. You have your own TV station now. Wonders never cease. Damn right I am playing pop music. Kenny G's coming over this afternoon to redo his Christmas CD together with me. He's really a cool guy.
@jamestown1048 Kenny really gets a bad rap. I mean, I listened to bands like "Question Mark and the Mysterians" playing "96 tears" and loved that stuff. How could that be worse than Kenny? Question Mark was mangling Rock and Roll. At least Kenny mangles jazz.
I can tell you and that Eastman have become good friends. Great tone. You create some cool tension outside and then slip back inside at the last moment to resolve the line.
sorry, can't type much for a week or so (surgery),
i'm fully hooked on that guitar. you're probably right about the piano, i was so used to shutting the piano channel off, that i assumed i could no longer play with any thing but a bass, but i think this one works ok.
i used to be the pianist in a trio, so i had to learn how to at least stay out of my own way.
Thanks again - I always have a hard time playing along with the pianist in these tracks because he's kind of 'busy' but it teaches me where and what not to do so as not to clash too much.
@carvetop01 Thanks allen. He's a busy guy but as I listen to other backing tracks, I realize that if there's a piano there at all, it's a trick to mesh with it. Lately I just turn the piano off to have a bit more freedom. -- Mick
Impressive! Where did you find the backing track?

@MrVvan69 My playing is more like the pretty girl in the dark bar after a gig. A healthy distance improves the playing. But thanks, Mick

You put on a "clinic" with this performance.

Really enjoyed this one. The background made your playing sound so much full!

Thanks, freddy - I had to stand up to keep those buggers out of range.. 3 of them staring at me while I play is downright unnerving.
