  • The only boss music in gaming that rivals this is "Danger!" and "The Oracle" from the same game and the Yoshi's Island final boss theme. This is honestly the most kick ass boss music I have ever heard.

  • Try to beat him without mana sword . that was a fail .

  • @oazen62

Doable with the spear, but it takes a very long time.

  • EPIC!

  • Epic Music and best Final boss battle of my childhood :)

  • This theme tune also used in Duke Nukem 3D, A boss battle with the Battlelord!

  • Hiroki Kikuta is up there with Koji Kondo, David Wise and Nobuo Uematsu

  • Sounds a bit off to me... idk why.

  • protect your team, do the spell " mana sword" on your warrior, , wait the dragon's face in full appearance iin front of your team, and FIGHT

  • final battle song against mana dragon. Intense..... don't lose!

  • This Song was in Super Filly Adventure.

  • 0:54-1:43 = chills of epic down my spine

  • This song, while epic, reminds me of one really bad part of SoM. I spent the entire game with my hero using a spear, cause I like spears. The final fight with the Mana Beast took FOREVER because his proficiency with the sword was so low. Urgh, so glad they let you pick the form of the epic weapon in 'Sword of Mana', the FFA remake.

  • Wenn du das erste mal an die Stelle kommst und die Musik startet weißt du sofort: Scheiße jetzt geht´s drum! Leben oder Sterben?! Gib alles!!

Wahnsinns Spiel, könnt´s schon wieder zocken :)

    good times.

  • Best game ever

  • This is one of the 10 best games ever! I love this game.

  • I'm glad I got a Wii so I can play this game again.

  • Like all other final battle songs, this one gives me goosebumps to hear. That just means its that badass =)

  • Man I remember when my grandfather bought this for me from a yardsale. We played the heck out it and I loved everything about the game, ESPECIALLY the music. This song has been stuck in my head off and on for the past 14 years or so. I'd play it again but I'm fairly certain my copy got re-sold in a yard sale years ago.

TL:DR This is an awesome game with an awesome soundtrack. Try it out if you haven't already.

  • @fockkyahmudkipz Download a SNES emulator and the Secret Of Mana ROM and you can enjoy it all over again. Download Seiken Densetsu 3 and it's English Translation patch and play SOM's sequel that was never ported for North America. You're welcome.

  • SoM 4 life!

  • Thumbs up if you want this game downloadable on the nintendo 3DS!

  • @Ephics, screw you.

  • Just looking at the damn cover brings back memories. Nowadays they don't make games like this one. Memorable, fun to play and even if you played it a dozend times you still can' t get enough of it.

  • Great music, but this final boss battle was extremely retarded. Thanatos was 10 times better.

  • I wish i was still playing bassoon, yes... i'd play the bass line on bassoon.

  • 5 people couldn't beat mantis ant

  • @enetick LMFAO! That's funny as hell;)~

  • Who else got pissed that the main female was in love with that sissy Dyluck and not the main male lead, especially after all he had done to help her?

That was the ONLY part of the game I didn't like.......well, okay, that and the fact that Melee attacks were underpowered compared to magic, but still.......XD

  • one of the best final boss songs ever! <3

  • This still rings in my memory as the best end-boss battle (and music) in video game history period!

  • What a great adventure.

  • Ich such von dem Lied einen Techno Remix.. einen älteren, kann mir jemand helfen.. ??

    thx im voraus.. ;)

  • I love the gameplay of this game, never played another game like this except for Sword of Mana.

  • One good thing about this game was that the 2nd player had almost the same rights as the 1st one. It can open chest and get in and out of places, hehehe its was fun. In the others mana games the second player was an accessory.

  • Someone like CarboHydroM or The Red Wings needs to do a rock cover of this tune---to this day one of my favorite pieces of video game music.

  • i owned and lost it then stole it from someone at a house party just to get it back ....ITS THAT GOOD!

  • I wish I hadn't sold my cartridge 8 years ago I want it back soooooo bad I love this game and I miss it *sadface*

    BEST GAME EVER!!!

  • Too much high frequency content in this. It's supposed to be low-pass filtered.

  • @4hodmt it's true it's hurting my ears whereas other version don't when wearing headphone slol

  • So fun, so challenging. Especially with those damn hits-everyone attacks! XD

  • Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, SMRPG, FF4-6.

Yep, the SNES was the best RPG console.

  • I want my SNES back.

  • play the game with the original story text ips. the game really is superb. i just though they ruined it when they put things in the game like, "what have you done with them???" - "they're probably at the entrance of the castle now" (you know he killed them...) there's more text and the fonts are easier to read. go get it at zophar's place.

  • @izlude2 aahh i remember that this game was supposed to be on the snes cd-rom which never came. they rebuilt the game to a standard cart and quickly translated it. it's awesome how folks on the net have access to these lost "original story texts" and are able to give us back what was initially meant to be.

  • Gotta say, this game is the best use of the multi tap ever, and I believe the only SNES rpg that used it.

It's a shame, they still have not made a co-op RPG of this calibur.

  • @fungihoujo this is exactly what iv been saying for a while now. the multiplayer system is so fluid too. iv you have 2 people playing and one needs to go do something, they just press start and the computer takes over their character until they come back.

i still havent seen any game pull it off as well as this one.

  • This is one of the most epic final boss themes in video game history, IMO. Few themes could even come close to this masterpiece. Secret of Mana was, and still is, one of the best RPGs, if not videogames, ever made.

Speaking of which, I'd like to call out the 5 people who apparently seem to have missed the like button.

  • Crank.

    That.

    Fucking.

    Slap bass.

  • @angrytigerP Haha man that's almost a Haiku! lol!

  • @angrytigerP

get rid of the b in the last word.

  • Flammie! Nooooooooo.

  • thats what I said too, Mana is not just a game it's art

its music, gfx style. Also I like Breath of fire, music there kicks ass too, esp. the 1st one.

  • Secret of Mana = My Childhood!

    IT IS MY FUCKING CHILDHOOD!

    ALL HAIL SECRET OF MANA!

  • @Sacume

Hell yes I grow up with this game. I have many fond memories or sitting and playing this game for hours. I will never ever forget about this game. Indeed Hail Secret of Mana.

  • jup, i feel the same - best game ever

  • make sure you have a change of underwear nearby before you listen at 0:55

  • @Renolidor wow..this is pretty go- UH-OH!!!!

  • Can't we all agree that Powell the best song in any Mana game?

  • I have the whole game on my xbox ;D

  • @YouTakeNoCandle

    xbox, oder xbox 360??

  • @YouTakeNoCandle

    have it on ps3

  • @XFFGSephiroth k nice ^^

  • somebody should create a movie based on this game...it will be a hit..

  • Well, it's probably one of the most secret secrets in thist world, what the cut out part was^^

I wonder how many people on our planet know it...

  • @ongyerth I dont, I would like to though : )

  • @ongyerth Probably only the Developers, Square Soft know officially.

  • It wouldn't surprise me if part of the game could have been cut out. I realized towards the middle that getting the others after Salamando was pretty quick and very little story after.

  • but that is also the best part of the game.

    Flammie FTW!

  • this game could have been so much better than it already was = (

  • i wonder what % of game was cut out to fit it on SNES

  • They said about 40%

  • @Vicious407 wow

  • For a game that is missing 40% of plot, it is still an amazing game. I wonder what the game would have been like with the 40%?

  • @NintendoxDude666 They afaik remaked SoM for the DS.....if only they'd remake it with the full plot and with all the maps and......aww, that's really sad, cuz it implies there could've been an even better game.

  • @trumblewumblehumble All I know is that if they explain what the carp that UFO thing in Northtown is, I will be very happy.

  • hmm interesting, parts of the game were cut out? man I'd buy this game in a sec, if it was re-released as a "full" game on virtual console for example

  • Plot, not actual gameplay.

(ps: in french the game was named 'secret of mana' and not 'le secret de mana')

when you know this king of game THAT FOREVER MAN!!!!

  • I think SoM has been re-released on mobile phones in Japan, with some updated graphics, but is still pixelated. With new Drawn artwork as well....

Which is completely unfair as it should be on the DS or something. And in America (or Europe or any country for that matter).

Please Squeenix... We love you... Q.Q

(Seikens . com posted the article about the mobile port sometime ago. If you decide to look it up, it mat take some digging, however it will be worth it.)

  • seriously dude, Secret of mana is NOT a game you can just play on your cellphone. It is a beautiful piece of art that should be played on a console, on a TV, with a joypad. Porting this game to a cellphone is not only a disgrace, it's an insult to the game as a whole.

  • @michelrpg : amen - hell, even the music i hear right now isn't the same as when i heard it as a kid - you get the best music (imo) when it comes from an snes hooked up to a TV

  • @michelrpg Then I guess you'd consider it a slap to the face if it was played on an emulator.

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion An emulator is fine I suppose. But I was referring to someone who mentioned Secret of Mana will be playable on phones soon or something. Which is just an insult to a game as beautiful as SoM, since the quality will NEVER be as good.

  • @michelrpg Well Said !

  • @michelrpg there puttting it on the iphone - makes me feel sick. :(

  • @hooker1uk I'd rather it be on the iphone than on a crappy cellphone. At least it will be playable.

  • @michelrpg

Not everyone can get their hands on a SNES console nowadays, It's actually more than a 100 bucks over here in Sweden. But i totally get your point, it should be played on a SNES console.

  • @Poochie1337 or on wii's virtual console. is it on virtual console? it ought to. i have the snes ver, but if virutal console have it ( as it absolutely SHOULD be) i'd send it to a friend of mine

  • @TheOnlyTherazan It is in Japan at least. Don't know about the English version though.

  • @michelrpg dumbest post ive ever read.

its the same experience, just on a smaller screen. how the fuck does it matter?

  • @Karnage420111 He's just mad that he can't play it on an American cellphone.

  • @seraphinw1 I wouldnt use an american cellphone if it was attached to a naked unconscious playboy bunny.

  • @michelrpg You'd use the bunny?

    AMIRITE OR AMIRITE?

    *crowd boos*

  • @arctrooper48 Hey, I only mentioned not using the cellphone ;)

  • @Karnage420111 It reduces the quality of the game. And if you believe its the same experience you're an idiot. You honestly think that playing a game like this on your cellphone is the same experience as it is when playing it on a nice tv with a joypad, with a nice stereo/dolby surround sound?

Must be one hell of a phone you use then if it is.

  • @michelrpg Would you be okay with it if it came to the 3DS or PSP2 as an enhanced remake?

  • @RySenkari depends on many different factors, but a console remake would still be a better alternative than a crummy cellphone port.

  • @michelrpg Im pretty sure Secret of mana is known these days for its graphical detail.

  • @michelrpg Uhh, I don't mean to insult the game but is it still good when it gets converted to the DS like Chrono Trigger?

  • @SirFair1 a DS is made for games. A cellphone isnt. So a port to the DS would at least allow the game to reach its potential.

  • @michelrpg You have a point there. I remember reading up on Wikipedia about this game and it said it was on phones in japan. I then remembered what you said then I though "Oh. My. GOD!!!! THIS ISN'T RIGHT AT ALL!"

  • @michelrpg The best part is playing SoM with a tactile screen. Seriously, WHAT THE.

Anyone who compare this to a gamepad and say that it is as good is either stupid or ill-faithed.

  • @michelrpg

Not true. I beat the game multiple times on console. And now I can take it with me and beat it again in downtime as an adult with a full time job. How is this a disgrace?

  • @michelrpg Totally agree. I`ve heard the iphone version is butchered down, with worse controls and no controls. SoM should be played on a console or emulator on pc.

  • At least it's downloadable on the Wii.

  • yeah part 3 was ok but secret of mana is the best in the series i wish they make moer mana games like this stop being lazy and put their hearts into these new game instead of thinking about money all the time

  • best boss music ever. it's only a shame that sound effects from the game had to cover it up.

  • I read somewhere (maybe on wikipedia) that the sound engineer in charge of this game was yasunori mitsuda, which of course was before he composed the music for chrono trigger. I mean seriously, how'd he go from screwing up this game music with the sound effects to composing some of the best music in videogames? Although its possible that it wasn't his fault at all, but imagine the irony if he was...

  • if my hunch is correct, the fault doesn't actually go to anyone but the limited memory of the snes. I've also heard that part of SoM was actually cut out just to make room for the whole game.

  • If they did cut out part of SoM when it came out for the snes, where o just where the hell is our Secret of Mana DS: Director's Cut T_T

I too would buy a remake instantly, its all I live for.

  • Part of it WAS cut out from the game. Apparantly there was supposed to be a lot more story regarding the mana temples and Dryad etc. Damn shame.

  • The SNES's SPC chip can only play sounds through a certain number of channels at a time. Hiroki Kikuta used up all the channels, which means for sound effects to play they would have to cut in on one of the channels an instrument in the song was using.

  • I just remember poorly... is this the Mana Dragon Fight Scene Music?

  • Indeed it is...The music of the final battle.

  • I like the music, but the boss is really really retarded!

  • Said it before and will say it again: proper music to save the world :3

  • I've said it before, and I will say it again...

    Best game ever made. Period.

  • Seiken Densetsu 3 would like to have a word with you.

  • No it wouldn't... It knows i'm shacked up with Secret Of Mana... It'd be too scared to visit me, knowing it's superior ancestor is there...

Seriously... Seiken Densetsu is a great little game... But Secret Of Mana shits on it, in all colours of the rainbows...

  • okay, this honestly made me lol

  • ...lmao.

At least your passionate about it!

  • Besides Chrono Trigger! :D

  • @IAmTheSecretOfMana Much as I'd love to agree with you, Seiken Densetsu 3 is everything SoM should have been. Still an amazing game

  • this is great ending battle music. god damn.

  • @empoleon9999:

This track is for the last boss.

  • What area is this from? I've watched an lp of this game, but stupidly, I had the volume low. NintendoCapriSun, the lper I was watching kept mentioning how good the music was and like and somehow I kept the volume low :/

  • Sorry for the double post, but in my last comment I didn't meant to put and like.

  • imagine if they bring out a new secret of mana on a next gen console :O!

  • The Seiken Densetsu series/ "of Mana" series never ended. Even though I have never played anything but SoM and SD3, there's been Legend of Mana, Sword of Mana, Dawn of Mana, Children of Mana...

  • if they remade secret of mana for a next gen console, i would probably buy it in an instant.

  • Proper music to save the world. :3

  • *bows to kikuta*

nobody can ever copy his style. he pretty much blew away everybody with this soundtrack, and he did it his way.

  • This music has a mix of sounding heroic, epic, and sad all in one.

  • white dragon riding, mana sword wielding, item wheel spinning, epic boss killing, co-op goodness <3

  • 0:55 to 1:44 is so epic, it truly gives you the feeling that your battle decides the fate of the world

  • Woah it's been ages since I last heard this song (well actually it's been around 2-3 years^^)....I switched right away to this part and know what: it gave me goose bumps^^

  • *pulls out mana sword* well get them calm kid, this aint over yet

  • @Shishakind86 haha, so true.

  • I've never played this, but I will. Only because this piece of music.

I especially like the part from 0:43 to 0:55

  • The sooner the better. This game kicks ass from here to the moon AND back!!!!

  • Don't you mean Moon Palace and back?

  • Ah, yes, you're right. Thank you for correcting my error! :-)

  • TAKE THE SWORD NOW!!!

  • What a good game this was, I almost forgot about it.

  • ahh .....this song i swear...brings tears to my eyes.......memories...

  • Comment removed

  • Well thanks a lot for ruing it for me you fucking dick!

  • He doesn't die. He gets swept away at the end and is finally returned to the forests, but I think he loses his memory again.

    That's why it's so sad.

  • OH NO, THE MANA DRAGON! =)

  • Brilliant song, Eminence's version of it is also impressive, I'm not sure which version I like more, XD

  • Not only is this song completely badass, it is kind of reprised in Seiken Densetsu 3(secret of mana 2) and its called Nuclear Fusion. It's a play off the original meridian dance. fucking great.

  • THE BEST GAME EVERRRRR!!!! ^.^

completed it over 30 times lol ^^'

  • Great song.

    I love 0:55 to 1:19 <3

  • This game makes every battle so intense just because of the music.

  • dragon buster= nothing :C

    mana sword= PWNAGE BEYETCH!

  • Def one of the best games ever

  • best game of the world

  • How can you argue when listening to so great music? -.-

  • Its the Mana Fucking Sword we're talking about here. Lord, Mana beast probly woulda taken critical damage just by LOOKING at it

  • mana beast gets WHACKED.

  • trolls?! on on my youtubez? I CAME.

  • This track is freakin awesome!!!

  • uh... yeah, i'm going to have to agree. if they gave you the ability to do 999 damage every time you do a normal level 0 attack, no reason to gimp yourself by purposely not using it. that's the way i did it, anyway...

  • Fantasy star 3 then shining force 2 then chrono trigger then secret of evermore then secret of mana.

If you dont agree then play them in order and beat them in order and tell me I'm wrong then.

    Good luck! ;)

  • sooooooooooo hot fuckkkkkkkkkkk-

the game is the best of the world

    thanks

  • Fricken awesome game and great music!!! This is my favorite theme GOD!!! lol but its seriously really good and im glad its on vc they just don't make great games like these anymore for the new systems

  • If there is one thing square never fails at, it is giving us fans the best final boss music pieces on all of thier RPG's. This is one of my most favorite! It just gives me such an
