i think i've voted for you three times already xD
Whaen ppl ask me to vote, i do it ;P (i think i voted around 50 times for shawna howsen when she called upon her subscribers to vote) But in my defense, that contest went on for months^^ Good luck though, and have a nice trip to Norway!
"some of you have come out of SkyJohn" made me giggle :P
you couldn't even remember the word 'collaborative' as a whole?
i am whoever i am and i am here because you made a videoresponse to a bwfnl video or you mentioned us or something i don't remember... AND my boyfriend thought you were cute. but i don't like cats - or animals in general.
and woop woop at the end WTF (what the fuck being Why The Face)
haha :D so I'm anna, I'm 15 and I'm a new subscriber and I found you because my boyfriend thought you were cute... :p
okay, that was a complete lie, and you know it :D anyway, I think it's nice to see you vlogging :D oh and I think you should put: bestwishesfromnl in the sidebar as well, for I found you through them... so yeah, -end of this comment-
yeah right Lidespam! my ninja typing skillz just pwn you! I should use them for Nanowrimo though... haven't written a single word yet.. not good! and this essay that is due within 4 hours... yeah, I need to start that as well... I need to get away from youtube, right now! (which is ironic, for I want to write about youtube... that's why I'm on here right now. I've been 'researching' for hours now..
the fact that youtube is a great way to build up your confidence. Posting video's on YouTube asks for your creativity as well. of course, if you are not yet in the confidence zone, your videos might not be that great, but by posting more videos you just get better and you learn to sit in front of a camera, you learn to do your thing in front of a public, even though it's not 'live'. I'm actually quite a shy person with a low self-esteem. I truly believe that posting videos on YouTube will help
me in my quest for confidence. right now I don't make the kind of videos that I really want to make, for I don't have the right equipment,... but also the courage to make them... maybe it's all a fantasy, and maybe I'll never be able to do it, but to my mind, all I need to do is make sure that I practice more. this community is a great place to be yourself. And I do feel like I'm improving. I'm building up my confidence. it's not a brilliant thesis statement, but I'll just work with it
I think it's not only a valid topic, but an excellent quest. I can't help but to draw the parallel to bestwish..NL and how a collab channel might be a great confidence builder cause people can sure be mean on Youtube, and having the direct support in that way is great, and of course then there's me :)
people sure can be mean on YouTube, and in that respect it's not always a representative community, for the one that give good responses either say the truth, or give a slightly more positive response, while the negative commenters mainly give mean and unjustified responses... so in that way you don't get the honesty that says: well this wasn't such a great video or whatever. we don't really say that. people that do make it more hurtful most of the time.. but in the end that's a boost for your
confidence of course, because people tell you that they like what you are doing... the most critical viewer might be the person that made the video... and that's not always a truthful point of view. this intrigues me quite a lot, it's just stupid that we got this little time to work it out... I do think that we get some time to improve the essay later on, but I'll just see. It's my own fault in a sense, for although if been researching and thinking about the topic, I should have started earlier.
starting earlier is a common excuse, certainly for me. I have been thinking about the over-positivity and how the 'care-bear' society might not be honest, but I think the opposite, not liking a video mostly result in a choice, not to comment.
Also, when you know the person, it's more about your relation to the person than the video. I am very conscious and critical to my videos, realizing that many times the posting is more important than the possible 'better' quality.
well, I would like to have more options. right now I'm limited in my editing software, I'm limited in my camera quality,... when I started watching clips on youtube, I mainly watched clips from people that applied special effects (for instance from charmed or buffy) on their videos. I would love to be able to do that. part of the youtube experience is for me trying out new stuff, even though right now you can't really tell from my videos.. I've got lots of ideas that I never put into video,
because I either don't feel comfortable enough yet and also because I can't seem to get it right... like for instance the freedom video you did, that looks awesome because of the editing and such. Even without the brilliant message behind it, you actually created an awesome video. I'm not able to do that right now. Maybe I simply don't have it in me of course. I'm probably not the kind of girl that should sit in front of a camera, but I'm quite discontent with the things that I make right now.
and admittedly, my videos aren't very good. part of me says this because I don't really like myself (yet :p) and part of me says because it's true. my videos are limited in creativity. they are either video responses or whatever. my halloween video was a bit different, but it's still not a good video. as I said, not everyone is able to make good videos of course, maybe I'm hiding behind this: 'I don't have the right equipment' thing. that's possible, and if that's true, than I'll have to accept
that. and seriously, I will if it turns out to be the case. But before I give up, I want to make sure that I tried a lot... even if I can't make good videos, I'm pretty sure that I do learn a lot from this entire YouTube experience. It's not just the amazing people that I get to know, but I also learn to accept myself in a certain way, and I do feel more confident sometimes :D a year ago, I wouldn't have been able to make my previous video... and yes, I might make a fool of myself, but still
I keep on believing that I am improving when it comes to being more confidence. I'm pretty positive about that :D we'll just see where this leads... and I'm totally spamming your youtube comment box and possibly Lidewij's inbox... I'm sorry!
also, I've spent many years with good editing software, first premiere for the PC and then Final cut, including several courses of film-making, so it's not exactly just talent, but rather persistence and patience (got that from Lego-building as a kid)
If you use WMM, then you are by default very limited, so I'd say the first step would be a better software for sure. Collaborating with someone, both in person and online is also a great thing.
I'll brainstorm with you on Facebook if you'd like
I've got pinnacle studio 12 ultimate right now, so I'm less limited than I used to be.. I don't know it well enough though... (I should try to work with a green screen, see how that works out, but I don't have any yet) I've tried to get my hands on a copy of AE, but it's too darn expensive! So I'm not that limited as I make it sound... maybe I just don't have what it takes... maybe I'm scared that this is all there is and that's why I don't take more risks in my video making. I just play safe
and end up with making things that aren't worthy of to be called actual videos. videoresponses are fun, but they should have their own channel :p
unless they are creative and fun to watch. what If I'm not creative at all? but I just don't realise it yet! I have so many doubts, I guess I'm probably just a boring person or whatever. nobody knows I'm on youtube, I bet everyone would be like; what! heleen on youtube? that's impossible! if they would find out. but from now on I'll give it a try!
collaborating is a brilliant idea. I'm always too late to hand in my videos though, whenever there is a collab. for some reason I just never notice it in time. and thanx for offering to brainstorm on facebook one day, I'd really like that :D I should talk less and try to write more. I would like to do something that nobody has done before, but don't we all? and the longer I wait, the less it seems possible, for people do amazingly awesome things
every day. it's so hard to be creative! but we all yearn for it to some extend. and then I think: can we truly be creative? isn't everything been done or thought about before? and it bothers me that even that thought is as uncreative as possible. I think I need to go back to my essay before I get all pseudo-philosophical :p
yeah, don't forget the essay, I have to say, greenscreen is not that easy, to get good, splitscreen however is very effective. Communitychannel is brilliant at this, talking about everyday things and acting them out.
I have less than 10 people I know personally on youtube from sweden, which is VERY strange. And you NEVER know when a video is gonna fire off and go viral, my first was the simplest vlog ever, but well-timed.
Wow such an unexpected deep discussion. Awesome!!
Heleen, if you copy all those comments you almost have an essay :) And I kind of feel the same really, it's hard to be creative, but (I'm totally into this topic now since I just filled in a survey about it ^^) for me it certainly helps to just do it anyway....
and Martin, you should do vlogs more often, it's nice to just see you talk :)
