I'm originally from Kennard, over near New Castle but I went to college at Ball State and my brother still lives in Muncie and actually snuck onto Jim Davis's property to try to get an interview to work for him and got caught. Jim was nice about it though and spoke to him briefly before letting him leave without going to jail. I love this! I live in Oklahoma City right now but I'm still a Hoosier at heart.
i don't like rap but this was very great, great job guys..! by the way jim davis was our sponcer for off road R/C car racing, we our team of 20 drivers had the big yellow cat on the bottom of our cars, so the other racers would know who we were, it was very effective in ohio at the state race there, we wouldent have though of racing with out garfield the big yellow cat, jim is gone now rest in peace jim god be with you..! i might add garfield was the most publisized cartoon in all of the wrold,
I love these videos and have been following them. I think the lake scene was taken at the recreational area east of Muncie, right? I am a former Ball State student, and believe it, Muncie was a big city from where I originated! lol;). You guys are all talented and this is original material, so, yes, there is more to Muncie, Indiana than BSU!
@sassydesiree2009 It's the same with Missouri... I live in Columbia, which isn't rural (country) like a lot of Missouri. But because Columbia is in Missouri, people think we're hick and farm and all that shit. This one girl from NYC showed up on the first day of school wearing overalls and a straw hat because that's how she thought we dressed! It's so fuckin annoying!!!
this has to be the funniest video ever. i love in eaton, right outsid eof muncie and do most of my shopping there. everything really is on mcgalliard. :D
Loved it! I was born and raised just off Tillotson a half mile or so north of McGalliard. When I was a kid, McGalliard didn't even exist out that far. Bethel was the road out to I-69.
About Letterman - true, he wasn't born in Muncie, but he went to school at Testicle Tech back in the late sixties. Art major, I think.
The portion of the video where Kirby is breaking it down is about people that are from Indiana in general, not just Muncie. Letterman is from India-no-place, Indiana.
Well, metaphorically, it means that if you don't care for the general feel of life in the small hamlet of Muncie, Indiana, you can relocate your ass & the rest of your body to the city of Fort Wayne, which these two gents in the video deem to be less dope. Like a Compton/Long Beach type of rivalry, but with humorous subtext. In essence it is creating a comedic parallel of sorts between two midwest towns that don't really have that type of marked urban rivalry that Compton & the LBC have.
How'd you get Kirby Heybourne in this video? I never knew of him before this but googled him and found out he's not even from Indiana. Nuts! Either way he is hilarious and I'll look out for more from him in the future.
I actually abducted Kirby from his home after seeing him on the series "Free Ride" on Fox. I flew out to LA on a redeye and gagged him with chloroform. I promised him I'd bring him back if he only did this one favor for me. He was really in no position to argue, so he agreed. This was all after he woke up from the chloroform, of course, in a taxi on the way to LAX for the first flt back to Indy. It was a rough start at first, but then he slowly got into the concept. And presto, Lazy Muncie!
Loved your rap video! As Borat would say "VERY NICE!" Oh Miami U? Yea! Great school too! I have been to Miami U in Oxford (north of Cincinnati). My sister got her Masters Degree (MBA) there. She also married there in the quaint little church on campus.
One of my fondest memories of Muncie was staying at the Kitselman (sp?) Center where I served as an orientation tour guide during foreign language weekend. Some of the frat houses in Muncie on University Ave were beautifully built too.
Why did One Accord close there? Did it move? Your father did an excellent job then! What else did he design? Must've been an archy major at Ball State? Well, I remember the sopapillas they made at One Accord (you could put honey in these hot-steaming rolls).:-):-) Yep! Good ole' McGalliard (one of my favorite streets too!) ok, my other guess for the street name would've been Tillotson, lol;) Hey Not bad for not being in Muncie for 22 years.
LOVED the sopapillas. I was just a kid, but I got addicted quickly to the honey filled delights. My guess is One Accord closed as most places do, from lack of patronage. My dad designed many wonderful houses in the Muncie area along with some churches and civic structures. He even designed the house we lived in. Didn't go to Ball State though, he went to Miami U. in Oxford, Ohio. His office in Muncie was right off Tillotson at one point, near the breakfast place called Richards.
We called it lil'Chicago and this video was great...thanks...i miss pizza king...i miss all the hoosiers...you don't know what ya got till its gone..is r-i-g-h-t!
Very innovative! I went to Ball State in the 80's. Is "One Accord" Mexican restaurant still in Muncie? That was the place to go Friday nights along with KIng's Corner Bar back in the 80's.
No, One Accord is no longer there, but my father designed that building! Small world. And guess what street it was on, people? McGalliard, McGalliard, McGalliard...
You know what is sad is that I know where every single place that you show is. LOL Pizza king is the shit! nobody gets that place unless you are from there!!!
Everything really is on McGalliard. The only time I ever really get off McGalliard is to go to the Puerto Vallarta on Tillotson (which I'm having major cravings for and can't have until I come back from school) or the southside Wal-Mart. The shot of the mall makes me happy (and I'll probably be there within the next two weeks!!!)
can't get enough of it. this is wayy better than the others especially lazy monday. that guy is even on on the lot, chris you should've auditioned for that.
The term "Midwest" is a term that originated back in the day and I mean way back in the day when anything west of the Appalachian Mountains was considered "The West". The states considered to be in the "Midwest" are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Now stop abusing your penis and open a book.
Yes, I'm confusing Iowa with Idaho. This person isn't an idiot. Who the hell thinks Nebraska is in the midwest? The midwest isn't every state in the middle, people.
I don't know where you get your information but you are incorrect. Try googling "midwest states." You will not find a single credible source that says Iowa is not midwest.
Nebraska is usually, but not always listed as part of the midwest (although this is RARE). Iowa is ALWAYS part of the midwest. Your original statement was Iowa is not part of the midwest. That statement was incorrect. Period.
There is no "period". If there was you wouldn't still be arguing the point. I'm not going to waste any more time discussing what started as a half-way joke.
Actually, any state bordering Missouri except for Arkansas is consider Midwest, I should know because I live in Missouri. But you have a point, since Indiana does not border Missouri.

woah, somebody is taking themselves a bit too seriously...yeah, thas rite, I'm talking 'bout choo, moozoo82 (august8785, ur there 2...that is, if your comment was not filled with sarcasm (it's hard to tell without prosody, bitches!)).
Why did the snl bit need a response? Did it ask a question? Why is it so popular to be completely derivative of pop culture? What is the point of saying you can do a second rate version of something that was already done? Way to go, America, way to go.
We did have a shot of the La Bamba sign and that classic slogan, but alas, there is always something that has to get cut. Tire Barn got the nod instead.
I like this a lot more now that I'm dating a guy who went to Ball State.

Jim Davis was classic.

Wow, so...nothing will make you more embarassed to be from the Midwest.

Why did the snl bit need a response? Did it ask a question? Why is it so popular to be completely derivative of pop culture? What is the point of saying you can do a second rate version of something that was already done? Way to go, America, way to go.
moozoo82 5 years ago
The only decent spoof so far.

This is great videomaking. Next time incorporate La Bamba with their creed, "Burritos as Big As Your HEAD!!"
ferrug25 5 years ago
We did have a shot of the La Bamba sign and that classic slogan, but alas, there is always something that has to get cut. Tire Barn got the nod instead.
