Um, I believe you're talking about the Aeon. The UEF used Black Sun simply as a defense mechanism. They would have been annihilated by the Aeon and Cybran. They had to stop the Aeon from slaughtering their own innocent civilians, and I don't want to think of the atrocities the Cybrans would have committed out of revenge. In the final UEF mission, the Cybran commander says "Earth will burn!" Just to give you a little idea of what the Cybran commander proceed to do after their "happy" ending.

When playing as the Aeon you are forced to kill civilians. That Cybran colony in the second(?) mission wasn't just inhabited by soldiers. There were residential structures. That was Marxon, though. The Princess stops you from destroying the other settlement.
Ah, but it will be interesting to see what effect all those lost planets has in the next game/expansion. If you've seen the teaser trailers at the end of the three campaigns, you'll know what I mean.

Actually, in the UEF ending they do fire it and destroy planets, but in the Cybran, the UEF also fires it but the Cybran launch a virus to destroy the Quantum Gate and liberate the symbiots. So, the UEF fires the Black Sun but fail for the Cybran Ending. As for the Aeon, the princess simply ends the war in peace. So the UEF destroys world and trillions of people, while the Aeon brings peace, and the Cybran frees symbiots and isolates planets by destroying the gate and enabling them to rebuild.
So what were they supposed to do, then? Say, "Oh, we're losing, so you can just trample all over us, slaughter our innocents in the name of your religion, and we'll hand over Earth and all of our other planets to make it easier for you!" This is the ending where the players is mentioned as and can feel itself as a "hot shot" commander respected by the entire world (or at least the good guys, his own faction).
No wonder most of the players like this one... their gigantic ego is filled completely, and every other (faction) opinion is destroyed. All that matters for them. ;)

On the website it says that the way forbids fighting and violence, but the Seraphim still need some defense as does everyone, so their warrior caste cut themselves off from the way in order to fight causing them to become the perfect killing machines bent towards war

Um, I believe you're talking about the Aeon. The UEF used Black Sun simply as a defense mechanism. They would have been annihilated by the Aeon and Cybran. They had to stop the Aeon from slaughtering their own innocent civilians, and I don't want to think of the atrocities the Cybrans would have committed out of revenge. In the final UEF mission, the Cybran commander says "Earth will burn!" Just to give you a little idea of what the Cybran commander proceed to do after their "happy" ending.

When playing as the Aeon you are forced to kill civilians. That Cybran colony in the second(?) mission wasn't just inhabited by soldiers. There were residential structures. That was Marxon, though. The Princess stops you from destroying the other settlement.

Actually, it says that the faction that gained control of Black Sun fired it, eliminating core worlds belonging to the other factions. The UEF ending shows this...

Actually, in the UEF ending they do fire it and destroy planets, but in the Cybran, the UEF also fires it but the Cybran launch a virus to destroy the Quantum Gate and liberate the symbiots. So, the UEF fires the Black Sun but fail for the Cybran Ending. As for the Aeon, the princess simply ends the war in peace. So the UEF destroys world and trillions of people, while the Aeon brings peace, and the Cybran frees symbiots and isolates planets by destroying the gate and enabling them to rebuild.

In the briefings of the aeon, most of the aeon commanders are loyal to Marcson (dont remember witch briefing think mission 5 or 6). And if the commanders are so loyal to kill ppl on his command then I think they agree with his kill-all-ppl plan.
