  • for the old school tekken players they should make tekken football :D

  • Everything you said from 12:10 is real but how do you think vf heads feel when we say the same shit about vf? Vf never dropped the ball.. I can play all of them but vf is more fun to me because "finishing" for launch will end a match quickly.

  • Who the fuck wants to see Nipple hair on Marduk lol!!!

  • TEKKEN IS A JUGGLE FEST!! or at least thats what its become this is undeniable

  • Demo version on PS3 !!

did i hear that right ?

is there a demo for this game on PS3 out now ?

  • @GORO911 its on the tekken hybrid thing. ttt2 prologe

  • @SeipherNL

    Sad

thought i can download a demo

  • put a god damn tutorial and get some soul calibur training features! its as easy as that.

  • I agree with you over certain matters, but I don't think T6 is that difficult to pick up. If you compare T6 to BR or even TTT1 you'll see how movement was actually simplified, same applies to juggle game (in BR it takes no brainer to do a long and damaging combo, wheras it was quite hard in BR to get a decent wall combo with certain characters). Knowing the frames and tracking was always essential, so was movement. I do like T6 way more than BR but I personally think T6 is more user friendly

  • shout outs to nipple hair

  • I felt every single thing you've mentioned from the moment I saw TTT2. My jaw hit the floor the moment I saw combo damage, every single team is capable of at least 45% midscreen, and the only character you can poke with is Bruce. I like how movement and moveset knowledge is still the key to high level play, but stupid combo damage is ridiculous.

Can a game like Tekken suddenly take away the technique people worked so hard on? I like TTT2, just tweak the damages and it'd be flawless in my eyes.

  • TTT2 was never supposed to be a new door to the tekken franchise. Just like TTT, it keeps everything as it was with minor changes, so that (as you said) veteran Tekken players or Tekken fans have a little bit more to explore.

This is not a game ment for new comers, it's a game for those that want more from tekken.

But it's good that you point this things out, because I agree that Tekken is getting a little bit underpopulated... maybe they'll have this in mind for the next real instalment.

  • anybody know if u can play with vita edit against ps3 players??

  • I've always wanted to get into Tekken... sounds like TTT2 will be the toughest one to get into. Still looks like it'll be a lot of fun though!

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts my man. I completely agree about the barrier for newcomers but until consoles come out quicker over here, nobody will ever be able to have interest. Once TTT2 comes out on console it will be officially over a year old and been played for 2 years. We have to just accept the community we have. Sure the Mishimas and Hwoarang are looking pretty strong but whatever, I think this game will enjoy a reputation for being too fun to care about the lack of balance. I hope.

  • After following the Tekken series since Tekken 1 up till now, I think its time I sloooowly start switching to something new (SCV maybe?). Juggle damage on TTT2 should be less not greater than T6BR and pokes and okizeme should be more rewarding. Like you said, the community needs more people to start trying the game out, and with these circumstances it wont happen.

The series definately needs a reboot, thats for sure.

    Great review, REALLY appreciate it!

  • i think ttt2 is more forgiving for new comers.. in T6, once a newb get carried to the wall with 30% health remaining, they are already lost in that round (pressured by wall).. in ttt2 at least they can switch to second character.

one thing i noticed which is not good in ttt2, which is most of matches feels that they run out of time fast because of game nature!

a come back from the losing player is hard to do! the time will run out before you'll able to win!

try to rush, you'll whiff & punished!

  • Dude, despite some of the people who think you're a troll, this is the reason I respect your opinions and watch your videos- you speak the truth. I LOVE Tekken, but T6 really dropped the ball for me. Now the learning curve is getting higher and I find myself with more responsibilities in life...so how can I devote myself to a game that requires so much time to learn? Though the elitists may hate it, I do think they need to lower the learning curve somehow.

  • I agree with everything you said. I also think that if this game came out about 18 months after 6 then it would have been better. Tekken 7 needs to be a bit of a reboot. Keep the core of Tekken but with new character animations, models, environments and backgrounds. Cut the fireworks and minimize the wall, bounce and launches and concentrate on movement, spacing pokes and move strings. There are enough characters in the game at this stage. It needs to feel like a new game and a step forward

  • @Plumpynuter You are spot on, I feel the same way. I have a friend who told me he would like play T6 or TTT2, but he doesn't like the outdated juggle animations or the cumbersome movement. Considering movement is such an integral part of the game, I think it needs to be made more accessible for all players. Another thing Namco should implement is an in-depth tutorial mode that gives you a rundown of all the game mechanics and how they should be implemented in real matches.

  • i think scenario campagin mode made people not buy T6. thats how stupid people are believe it or not. now that its out some little thing might change.

  • i think dumbing down the game to appeal to new players is always a bad idea, i mean look at sf4. sure it has a lot of players, but most of them just mash uppercuts. its the players' problem if they don't want to learn harder games, they do not want to invest the required time and interest to a game to be good at it, and some of them just might not possess the skills required at all. that's just too bad, they can go to sf4 online to mash uppercuts instead of trying to play tekken.

  • Now that I hear this, I believe the only thing that will keep this game alive is people pushing the tekken community. More things like LUYG and dedicated Tekken streams need to happen or very few new players will get into this it seems.

  • Make a proper training mode/tutorial mode.

Incoperate framedata in to the training mode.

And ad a online mode that doesent suck (not talking about netcode or lag)

Its as easy as that to make new people play the game.

Counter-strike, WoW, StartCraft, BF and so on, is only that big becaus the online part.

Let the arcades die in peace!

  • @Crimson4649 Go back to your gay ass games on counter strike, starcraft and all your other shitty games.

Fighting games is a basic roots that originated in the arcades and for you to say let the arcades die in peace makes you look like a fucking retard. Because there are still ALOT of people that wish we still had arcades around (myself included).

Go back to playing shitty ass PC games.

  • @evilaj2010 You missunderstod.

I hate the above mentioned games.

But im also a realist. The arcades are dying. and nothing will bring them back.

So why waste time trying to pull people in via a dying culture?

The aim is not to reverse time and get the glory days back,

But to pull a new generation of players to TEKKEN.

Brodband connections will continue to get better.

Enabeling people all over the world to play eachother, instead on relying on there local sceen with maby 4-5 players.

  • @Crimson4649 I'm not even going to bother with your ass but all what I will tell you is that for you to say to let the arcades die in peace was absolutely moronic. What about the people in Japan that are still playing the arcades there? Do you want people like Namco to fuck them over? Give me a break dude.

Playing at arcades is far better experience to get than playing online for many reasons.

Don't even bother to reply to me unless you bring up a valid argument to me next time.

  • @evilaj2010

    Your a fucking retard *facepalm*

  • @Crimson4649 If *you're* going to call me a retard, make sure you know the difference between *your* and *you're* because you just made yourself look like a retard compared to me. Do no change the subject against me. If you're going to give me a valid argument then do it. And no insults this time because that shit is irrelevant.

    I'll be waiting.

  • @evilaj2010

Waiting for what? me arguing that its a good thing that the arcade sceen is dying?

If so, you can fucking wait you dumb shit.

That was never the argument to begin with. It was just you that got fucking butthurt by my comment and started calling me retarded over me saying that the arcades are dying.

As if talking smak would make it not so.

    Go fuck your selfe.

and next time, stay to te topic, and dont start trolling over shit like this.

  • @Crimson4649

Oh no no no no no no no. Do not try to twist your words on me trying to confuse me with your argument. I will indeed call you a RETARD for telling people to let the arcades die in peace. Are you seriously denying that now? This isn't trolling, I am calling out on your selfishness bullshit.

  • It's safe "if you've got good defense and tag out", so it still depends entirely on the skill of the player?

    Doesn't seem dumb to me.

  • @cikame I never said anything about TTT2 requiring any less skill than T6. In fact, I think TTT2 requires more/new skills. Managing life bars and keeping characters alive is definitely a unique and important skill that is not quite as apparent in T6.

  • (cont..) Some people are tired of 'dumbed' down games, and they're prolly considering Tekken Tag 2 as their new favourite game. So, why not introduce ppl how fun Tekken can be..... so they can play the game and enjoy it too.

  • Once Castel / TZ has launched the TTT2 wiki...let's contribute to the wiki. Let's make shows like Cross Counter, OW, Assist Me. Let's continue & improve on what's been done so far like Level Up Your Game 1-2 hour videos. More stuff of course needed to be done(keeping scene alive,by holding gatherings etc). But my main point = as long as the community works hard to keep the game alive..then I'm quite sure, the game won't need to be 'dumbed' down, for it to be more popular.. (cont..)

  • I like to add that this new people playing the game is just BS what the people that asking for this want is new top players like a jwong or Daigo they don't want normal players the games bring in new people its just everyone screaming new people all they want is Faces like SF has. If just 10 of the top SF players started playing Tekken everyone would say problem solved thats fucked up.

  • I've always said hop kicks are low risk/high reward even in tekken 6. some of my characters have bad 12frame punishes so all I can do is jab, and against characters like bruce who can cause 80+ damage off a hop kick -_- Namco should make hopkicks -13/-14 on block in TTT2 in my opinion.

  • @abush55 Many hopkicks ARE -13 on block now in TT2.... read up

  • @ninjaboll Ok thanks, I didn't know that.

  • @abush55 I agree with you 100%. It isn't exactly fair when Kazuya can get 39 dmg for his 12f but Asuka only gets 9 dmg. To me, a hop kick is essentially the semi-safe "shoryuken" of Tekken. It turns the tide very quickly like an srk, but unlike an srk it grants you huge damage potential at little risk. It doesn't have to be hopkick blocked = you're dead, but I think most of them should be ~ -14.

  • I can see where you're coming from in terms of the community aspect of Tekken, as I recently just started learning the game. I learnt very quickly that the game requires a lot of knowledge of the theory to be truly effective. The game is great, but learning becomes difficult when every other player is miles ahead of you in skill level. The only way to learn is get beaten and hope you learned something.

Keep up the good work, dude.

  • problem that no new people play the game is they, not the game. if theyre too retarded to learn something or prefer some game with gay-ass characters with 3 moves per character.

  • @ikk9000 Tekken could bring in new players without dumbing down the gameplay at all, by just reducing the "how much shit you have to remember" quotient. Remembering 100 character's useful moves (or even frame data) is NOT SKILL, but it is a barrier that exists for new players.

  • look @ positive sides.. i agree combo dmg should be lowered little..

overall i don't think the entrance for new comers is all that harder compared to T6..

some characters can really do good damage without tag assault, therefore for new comers who still learning and not using tag assault.. they will not lose the red bar.. which is little more positive for new players than it was in T6..

also the whole tag thing adds more appeal to the game overall, it's more fun = more people might check it.

  • Harada should just allow the option to activate or cancel boundes in the options menu offline and in online gameplay. Then it would work for everybody!

  • can someone explain to me what the hworang unblockable thing is?

  • He can use his unblockable in the middle of a juggle using a stance transition, its kinda broken because theres a crazy techtrap involved.

  • @henisacat v=ygYEcchhkpw

  • for me tekken is the best fighting game for the simple reason that is a 3d game representing the reality as closes possible, when you see how they make the animation of different combo compare to other 3d gam like dead or live or virtual fighter you can see that tekken is definitely at the top. the reason why this game will never go down is that the idea to improve this game is unlimited, they can create a new character doing a new marshal art improve the skill of the pricinpal fighter well...

  • Do you often write your comments while high ?

  • @ShiroKreuz what do you mean?

  • @samagatsu1 i don't think this game comes any closer to any reality.. its far from reality..

  • Aris how do you not know that you only get 25% redhealth from attacks? Your theory on red health, launchers, and punishers is completely false. You would only be able to regenerate 25% of the total damage done by the 12 frame punisher. You'd have to be hit by 4 12 frame punishers to get enough redlife to regain the damage dealt by one.. Talk about putting together half assed theories hell these are quarter ass theories. Just throw out launchers instead of pokes? Cool idea bro.

  • To me bound killed T6. I wish bound was only possible after wall splat and a bound move in the open would jus be a spike down move. I think that would make wall carries or wall splats worth more while lessening time spent waiting for combo to end. Though I feel current way floor break after bound/spike move is the appropriate way to finish combos in floor break stages. Everything else is good how it is

  • I gotta make one more post.

One thing that might help those people struggling to get in to Tekken is a GOOD Practice Mode! Harada hinted that they would make one this time around, and I really hope it's true.

I played for many years not even knowing there was something like frame punishing, the game never taught me that, people did. If you throw out a very risky move, and you get hit during your recovery, there should be something small like a visual effect (or text), indicating something.

  • @Spiriax totally agree about punishment thing, some new comers throw very unsafe moves and getting punished by deadly combos..

  • I personally love that, i love having an edge with movement and punishment to people who havent bothered to learn it. Sometimes i fight online noobs by only backdashing everything or letting them spam an unsafe move and just repeatedly punishing it. If they simplify these things, ill just drop tekken for sure.

  • I agree with some stuff here, punishing doesn't seem as strong. However, I feel general poke damage is still good, which is helped with the overall faster/easier movement. Also, as crazy as the combos can be in this game (I've seen some pretty crazy combos too), its still not much different from BR, and maybe better (because you get two characters now, and the stages are much bigger, so its not one juggle equals put you right at the wall to die).

  • Good review do you think they would make any changes to it befor its released on consoles ?

  • So that means Zafina is going to be a crap character again...because most of her main playstyle is around poking and punishing...not combos. I believe anyone who plays her, knows that her combos aren't too "diverse". Meaning, she has limited moves that can fit into combos easily like Lili who has a lot of moves that can fit in like her ws2. Someone comment this?

  • I love the game and I live in Japan and can play anytime and I have to agree on alot of things here but you have to remember this game was made for the Fans so this was not ment to bring in any new players. to me this game is beyond VF because there is just too much to worry about during a match that last much longer now because this game is defensive. Maybe T7 will change things agan. but this series been in the VF camp after DR so they both would have to refresh for new players top to bottom.

  • Awesome thanks for the review.

  • Aris what do you think about putting frame data in the in-game move list. Tekken has such a vast move lost for EACH character it would be a good step imo to help people get into tekken. I know a lot of people who pointed at the large move list on such a big roster as a big reason to not get into 6

  • word~

  • Namco should be nerfing juggles and make some sort of EX move sort of system, most Tekken haters hate the juggles, Namco are retarded at making choices and seem to never drop any old stuff. I dont want them to change it completely but they should have just nerfed bound and walls to please everyone.

  • @ShiroKreuz Nurfing juggles won't do anything there is still tones of shit in the game juggles make it easy for newer players to play with out them they would not have a chance to learn this game at the stages it is now. I do agree bound and all the T6 gimmicks should have never been added. only thing they can do is trim the cast and start over again for new players but then it would not be Tekken anymore.

  • Not happy to hear this. I was saying the juggle dmg is way too high all along, but most fanboys answer with excuses about the health bar being bigger which doesnt seem to matter at all...

  • Confirmed Aris thinks Marduk's nipple hair is amazing.

  • I don't think the game engine necessarily needs to be changed. Namco could do little things such as putting frame data in the movelists of characters, anything that would make it less of a chore for everyone to learn. The barrier to entry has a lot to do with the fact that there is a lot more to Tekken than meets the eye and a lot of research has to be done outside the game before someone new can have fun.

  • I'm a 2D FG player, who enjoys following Tekken. I'm not one of these guys blowing up harada's twitter telling him to simplify tekken, but I agree that getting into T6 is terrifying, seeing as that game has been out for like 5-6 years. Also, there's so many fucking characters!! I am a 3S player but I wouldn't recommend someone try to get good at 3S in 2012. With TT2, if it's just like T6, the same problem exists. I'm not saying they should do one thing or another.

  • Pretty good review. I'm kind of agree on your negatives and surprised by the analysis of the game. But would making red health regen, say, faster solve the poking problem? I would think that it'd make it worse, but maybe I'm not thinking it through...but yeah, I love t6 too but namco needs to get away from the combos. ridiculous combos only work for mvc series because everyone expects not to take too seriously. with tekken, while cooling looking, for some reason gets a really negative reaction.

  • @SilverMummy I agree, faster regeneration of red health would not solve the problem. I honestly do not have a good solution, I simply am not in love with the current formula.

  • @AvoidingthePuddle I'm sure you mentioned this 100s of times but are you getting sf x tekken? Sorry if this is infuriating but considering you love tekken and could play 2-d fighters like mk, sf x tekken doesn't seem too out of your reach.

  • @BattleMania I will definitely give that game a serious try.

  • @AvoidingthePuddle

You got some great points here, Aris. How about making the regeneration speed of red life depend on how much you have? When you have lots of red life like you just got juggled, it regenerates a lot faster, and if you have red life like you've just been struck by a poke, it regenerates a lot slower.

This would make think a lot more before using Tag Assault if you have lots of red life, and it would restore the balance of pokes vs launchers. I guess?

  • Nipple hair, AMAZING

  • NICE!
