  • Browne /Lindley. It doesn't get much better than that.

  • can someone plz tell jackson to come back to victoria australia. love to see him again

  • God he's sexy.

  • Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of Jesse Ed Davis, the original guitarist.

  • Kind of looks like Tom Cruise in this video.....lol

  • this song gives me lots of great memories :)

  • Every time I hear this song it yanks my heart.

  • The lyrics in this song are enlightening to the awakening experience. Awesome stuff. I wonder about the songwriter and his inspiration.

  • @kennajames This song was inspired by the suicide of his first wife, and how he didn't grive over her for many years. Lyrics "for having learned how not to cry" "ah, go ahead and cry"

  • @rbreton59 Sorry - this song was originally on his first album, Jackson Browne ( sometimes called Saturate Before Using, because of the cover), which came out I think in 1971, or possibly 1972, but, whatever, it was long before Jackson's wife's suicide!

  • Thanks, this is such a great song.

  • Great compilation seeyou917, thanks.

  • David Lindley on the laptop slide guitar, that man rocks !

  • Jackson BRowne you are tremendous--melodic and meaningfull both same time

  • Rudy644 - don't give up ! Just tonight, 10/29/11, I saw your post...,.. There is music out there for you. If you love this, as a starter try the Eagles, One of These Nights.

  • I always think of this as one of my most favorite songs. I feel your pain rudy664. At least we have a large body of music from the past to find something that resonates with us even if no one seems able to make it any more.

  • my favorite Jackson Browne song! We saw him last night in Worcester, Mass. Thanks for posting!!!

  • @marshmelloo975 Great show wasn't it?

  • ...Great as always Jackson, Thanks for a wonderful song...

  • Still great after all these years.

  • Does anyone have the name of a good Jackson Browne optometrist?

  • Donna, i wll never hear Jackson Brown with out thinking of you. R.I.P. my love.

  • Great song Great Artist!!!!!!!

  • I remember when the news accused Jackson Browne of hitting his then girlfriend, Darryl Hannah

  • I wish they still made music like this today. iam 15 and this is the only type of music I listen to I loathe despise abhor and detest today's music it just sucks this music though it ROCKS!!!

  • @rudy664 they still make music like this but nowhere near as much and its strung thru all the shit that the poducers force down our throuts if you can play then start a band and dont back down if you dont get big then you dont but you stuck with your beliefs and we get some good music from it,if you cant play then support those who do and dont ever sell out & pass it on

  • @rudy664 I'm 23 and I mostly agree. I used to listen to this exclusively, but I've broadened my horizons. That being said, this music will always be my passion and the direction that the majority of today's music is going makes me sad for future generations.

  • This did not get enough airplay locally. Running on empty and the loadout-stay got humongous airplay however.

  • Most doctors are not see.s

  • 0:50 Tom Cruise

    0:41 Who's on his shirt?

David Lindley on fiddle? I didn't know there was a fiddle in this. Who plays the slide?

  • @willprich i think i answered my own question haha

  • @willprich That is David Lindley on JB's shirt. From when Lindley did a solo tour in the early 80's. Also that is Danny "KOOTCH" Kortchmar (Who got his start as lead guitarist for James Taylor) at 1:17-1:20

  • 0:50 Tom Cruise

    0:41 Who's on his shirt?

  • @willprich He reminds me alot of Christian Bale at 0:50.

.nevertheless...i saw Jackson in 1972. A great concert. Lindley is a genius also. Those Laurel Canyon performers were the best. They partied harder than in any era but it was a unique time in musical history.

Since those days, the music scene has stagnated. No songwriters like this exist today.

  • A really, really great song! I love it!!!!!!

  • Not bad.

  • its not JUSt older people who know about classic rock and folk rock like Jackson Browne, The Eagles, Warren Zevon, etc. I know quite a few people who have heard Browne and a few other bands' music who worked with Browne in the past. things like movie soundtracks and the internet really help. Browne and Lindley's album "Love is Strange" was even nominated for a Grammy last year! if the Grammys notice, then a lot of people must notice and enjoy it

  • 10 people are friggen depressed beyond therapy;c(

  • awesome! thankz for this video...

  • Jackson Browne Rules...

  • Love, love, love Jackson Browne! I never tire of the great lyrics, melody, beat, harmonies, etc. to this song. A musician friend of mine once said to me that this was his favorite song because someone finally found a way to use the word "unfurled" in a song! Somehow I think of that every time he sings that second verse...

  • I had my first kiss  to this song in New Orleans, Louisiana...this song still moves me! Love ya Jackson and Dianna 

  • I love Jackson Browne's music,i feel he is a legend.But having said that.I just feel

it's a double standard, that he could carry on a intimate affair with a 27 year-old

back in the 70's(Nico,she's now deceased) while he was only 15.If it were the other

way around, somebody woulda been in jail!!

  • @AnnaAnnaYes - Unfortunately too true - yet, that relationship was the impetus for so many inspired lyrics.

  • @luvnthetube I cannot argue with that

  • @AnnaAnnaYes Jackson wasn't 15! Jackson didn't meet Nico at all until 1967. Jackson was born 1948, so that means Browne would've been 19 years old. Nico was born 1938, so Nico was 29 . Before Jackson turned 18 he was a staff writer for Nina Music in New York City. In 967 and 1968 Browne lived in Greenwich Village, New York, where he backed Tim Buckley and Nico. In 1967 Browne and Nico became romantically linked, lived and Browne wrote and played guitar on her album "Chelsea Girl".

  • @4FabBEATLES Ok,but Nico said in several interviews that he was younger, perhaps

she was trying to "spice up" the interview. All of your facts are spot-on though. Thanks!

  • @AnnaAnnaYes except, he wasn't 15, so nobody would have been in jail!

  • @dinocubfan Well technically,if he was,Nico would have been in trouble,because she

had said in several interviews before she died that he was a minor when they were

    intimate.But who's to say.R.I.P Nico.Keep Rockin Mr Browne.

  • @AnnaAnnaYes it is all speculation at this point!

  • @dinocubfan Yes,that's what i mean.

  • Touring! hope near me...

  • he's touring???? Where....

  • @Ladyalibug wwwDOTjacksonbrowneDOTcom is where you can find all the info you want about Jackson Browne, his tour schedule, albums, and other stuff. Jackson Browne's website is the place to get info just like any musician or band- go to their website. Google the musician's name and "official website' if needed.

  • Always excellent. The soundtrack of my life...

  • Song writing as excellent as that is rare.

  • What a radical dude!

  • outstanding tune

  • its a shame that folks 30-35 and younger collectively have no idea about JB and similiar artists! Music these days [since the early 90's] suks! About the time VH1 stopped playing music. If you can recall the first Mtv video then like me you are "old"

[Buggles, Video killed the radio star] just in case you were wondering!

  • Saw him last year in Cork, Ireland.... a superb show. (mind you, the whole audience was around the half century age mark , myself included :-D)

  • Someone once asked me what was my favorite Jackson Browne song; I didn't have a clue b/c there's so many & many added since the ? was posed. If I had to choose some favorites, I'd have to incl For a Dancer, Rock Me on The Water, Too Many Angels, The Pretender (of course), Your Bright Baby Blues, Sky Blue & Black, My Problem is You, etc... there are just so many. I could no sooner pick a favorite star from the sky... as the old saying goes...

  • Years ago he played this song in more of a ballad-like tempo; I haven't heard it played that way on any of the Youtube vids but that is the version I always hoped was taped somewhere b/c it sounded more Jackson Browne's style than it does played at a much faster tempo; at least that's MHO..

  • WHAT A WAY WITH WORDS AND WAHT A VOICE DOES ANYONE ELSE IN THE BUSINESS SOUND SO GOOD ON LIVE RECORDINGS AS OPPOSED TO STUDIO WORK? NO CAUSE JB MAKES NO MISTAKES AND A PRO TAKE IT FORM ONE WHO OWES HIM ALOT...

  • Great tune... JB is awesome

  • opticiANS LOVE this song

  • Losers...ten of them!

  • Comment removed

  • One of Browne's best, well before he started fighting women, putz.

  • The lyrics, the tune. Perfect. A benchmark for songwriters.

  • THE CLIP YOUR'E TALKING ABOUT WAS A CONCERT IN JAPAN !!!

  • This video clip is also available on a DVD I bought a few years ago that seem less than well produced. However, it's the only full length JB version I have, so I cherish it!

  • I think 2:13 to 3:06 is a clip from ABC's In Concert (the huge rainbow in the background is a dead give away). Just look up when Jackson Browne was on ABC's In Concert and I'm sure you'll find the clip you're looking for.

  • Wow at thirty six seconds, Jackson is wearing a David Lindley T shirt, then sha zam, he's wearin three or more other outfits. I have had a few today, so if i'm wrong, correct me. Jackson Browne Rules.

  • Too Cool, Jackson is wearin a David Lindley t shirt. Doesn't get any better than that. Right on.

  • @Quads840 I saw both of them together at Maryhill Winery in Goldendale WA. Was very awesome.

  • @J3arc Sweet. We saw Jackson and David last September twenty first in Cleveland, Ohio. Second row, mid stage seats, definitely one of my top three shows, and i have been going to Concerts eighty two. May go to Michigan to see him next Month.

  • I went to take a messy shit in a local grocery store today. As I went for the one stall, a douchey looking kid came out, and I go in to find all the toilet paper is gone, just some seat covers. Then, this song came on over the PA, so I thought something was going right. Then some bitch switches into to a pop song.

    Worst. Shit. Ever.

  • great new song by rebecca skye - thanks

  • Gosh. He's like 45 in this video, at the beginning, and still sounds great.

  • I was 16, and in the hospital with a broke leg when I first heard this song. April '72. I was in the US Naval hospital, Charleston SC.

  • i love you Jackson Browne!!!

  • this song is rockin' that slide guitar is magical.

  • Brings back memories....wild times...grown old

  • rokpool.com loves this song!

  • Thanks to Alasdair for pointing out backstage (with his laptop) who Jackson Brown was... (hey, i was in France for a long time and didn't listen to any American music). And then when I worked for Nina Gerber she gave me her CD with him on it and told me he was her god. My other favorite female vocalist, Chris Webster, won a Jackson Brown songwriting prize too for one of her songs. So, OK.... now i get it!

  • Very under rated great songwriter and performer. Saw him in the 80's in cincinnati. Fantastic! He will always be a favorite

  • I saw the like button. Still like him. He rocks still. I'm glad to see other people appreciating his talent. He was rather under rated unfortunately but, he's one hell of a guitar player.

  • PLAYED THIS FOR MY FAMILY WHILE WATCHING, DR WHO'S "WEEPING ANGEL"

  • pure california rock n' roll....luv it!

  • I think it's cool that Jackson is wearing a David Lindley t-shirt. I still have my Pleemhead Audio shirt from the 70's. I'm an old L.D.. The last time I went to see Mister Dave he looked at the shirt as I was walking up to talk with him after the show and said, "Man, we're getting old."

  • if he hadn't smacked Darryl Hannah around,, he'd be one of my all time favs,,

  • @seeyou917. This clip came from Going Home a DVD. Where is unclear. He explains the unusual origins of this song with a mistuned piano a neighbor had though. It's very inetersesting and his DVd that's any good. Rockpalast was mis-edited.

  • Haha, this song came on the radio while i was photoshopping eyes. :)

  • Was I unwise to leave them open for so long?

  • my teacher assosiates tis with the holocost

  • I think the clips from 2:13 to 3:06 might be from The Midnight Special. The setup looks familiar...

  • the live clips of the concert are from a performance at BBC Television Centre, Shepherd's Bush Theatre, London. 1978

Jackson Browne: guitar, piano, lead vocals

David Lindley: fiddle, guitars, backing vocals

    Craig Doerge: keyboards

    Bob Glaub: bass

    Jim Gordon: drums

Rosemary Butler & Doug Haywood: backing vocals

  • David LIndley and Mark Goldenberg ... awesome.

  • classic

  • 8 Peoples eyes did not see the like button.

  • @LarkinCSUF11 probably 1 person.

  • @LarkinCSUF11 8 people need to "doctor their eyes"-Lol

  • @LarkinCSUF11

They were too busy blowing Justin Bieber.

  • @magicmark1292

Thanks. I hurt myself when I fell off my chair.

  • @pnolanrn

Sorry I'm not good with getting peoples tones with text. I take it that was funny?

  • @magicmark1292

    Not to me.

  • @pnolanrn

Are you saying you are a bieber fan?

  • @magicmark1292

I'm not sure who bieber is, but I've heard some negative remarks about him.

To answer you, no, I am not a bieber fan.

    I rather like you, though.

  • @pnolanrn

Justin Bieber is a new pop artist. Nothing compared to Jackson Browne or any of the like. His songs pretty much have no life or meaning in them. Just junk to sling to the younger generation.

  • @magicmark1292

I assume this bieber character is selling records, Yes?

So, anyway, Mark, are you married?

  • @pnolanrn

Yes he is selling records. I personally delve into my personal life with a complete stranger though. Sorry. From here on out not responding to any of your replies or personal messages.

  • @LarkinCSUF11 ahahaahahhaahahhaa!!!!

  • @LarkinCSUF11 You`re sooo right:-)

  • @LarkinCSUF11 that;s because they are f-ing idiots!

  • Doctor my eyes are glad for seeing this.

Sorry for everything else, including me.

  • yep..

  • super song.

  • Doctor My ASS

  • @WKaliberr Why? Are you butt-hurt? :)

  • @Triton1051 yes, I got pounded in the ass

  • MUCHO GROOVY, THANKS!!

  • To ROCKSTARCRANE:

Get up off yer ass and provide it!!

  • great song!

  • Jackson is great

  • 0:41 - The David Lindley T-shirt FTW!

  • This sucks without Lee Sklar's original bass line in the chorus and middle. And the half-time drums don't make it either. Jesse Ed's solo on the original was one of the greatest guitar solos of all time. Missing it here....

  • The Man.

  • Por todos los recuerdos... Eres el mejor... gracias.

  • This is one of my old time favs....love this song :)

  • Eight people need to see a doctor.

  • Happy Birthday Jackson!

  • He played at our fairgrounds. I was close to stage & seated on ground with the rest of the crowd. A cool & breezy Fall evening. The only memory that remains is of the gal returning to her spot from a trip to the beer stand. Speaking of "trip"....She managed to do this about 3 feet from me. Being early yet ( in his set ).......I spent most of the show drenched in ice-cold Budweiser.......waiting for it all to end so that I could get home to my space-heater...

  • I really love this song!

  • I believe this clip is from the Bringing It All Back Home DVD--it's fantastic!

  • Steve Still played the bongos on the original. Also Jackson looks so good he probably got the best groupies that made him late for sky every where he played.

  • What kind of hair products does he use? I saw him a couple of weeks ago--hair is somewhat gray but just as shiney.... This new google thing makes it difficult to post anything. Sucks....

  • What kind of hair products does he use? I saw him a couple of weeks ago--hair is somewhat gray but just as shiney....

  • seeen several videos of jackson browne from theis time period......talk about in the zone......damn i shouldda been there

  • Love him...love him...love him! Seeing him tonight in Atlantic City...can't wait! This song brings back great memories of high school....

  • ROCKS!!!

  • The DVD was "going home"

  • Sorry to have posted the 'cell-phone quality' video from the '120th row' in Sioux City. It is my fault for not having my 2010 technology with me, in row one. If you have quality audio and video attached to your computer, then this is what Saturday night in Sioux City sounded like, from my seat. (well maybe 10% better). It rocked!

  • I always put this song with my tour in iraq,

"I have done all that I could

To see the evil and the good without hiding

You must help me if you can?

Doctor, my eyes, tell me what is wrong

Was I unwise to leave them open for so long"

  • Welcome to Washin+on D.C.~2010 Charlie~* don"t let me down. I can show you into the White House if you wan+~+he easy rider @ your service~+~+~*

  • jackson browne is the sexual equivalent of toast

  • @kinkybootbeast1

    U R So Wrong!!!

  • I couldn't agree more with the statement "MissTerri" made...This song's been stuck in my head all day, which prompted me to come to YouTube and listen to it.

I'll take real music like this any time, any time at all...

  • @BisonAP Havent heard this for years!!

  • I just saw him two nights ago at the Greek Theatre on the Berkley Campus. It was the best. He is amazing whatever song list he does. David Lindley was there and he blew us all away. Best night in years.

  • Great to see the part of the clip with Rosemary Butler in her heyday. One of the best for sure. And of course.. Lindley... doesn't get any better than that.

  • I think it's from the DVD "Going Home."

  • Love this tune.

  • Heard this on the radio and felt so awesome. Great song.

  • There are truly only a few artists I would listen while driving long distance. One is Bob Seeger, the next would be stones and of course Jackson Browne.

  • This Song was before its Time........poetic haunting and Relevant.....

  • This is how I feel these days - seeing the Island of plastic in the ocean - the oil spill in the ocean - so much - too much........................

  • Great band. Lindley just rips on lap guitar.

  • "ask your doctor.. a simple test will be performed..."

  • @AudioFixation side effects will include a sharp shaking of your back side and an intense desire to fully shake it on down...tears may eventually result... please use with caution.

  • I really do like this song. It was on the ending of criminal minds and I have ever since been trying to find out the name and the other day it came to me so I looked it up and I really like it. :]

  • Is Justin Long the son of Jackson Browne?

  • epic Lindley!!

  • cool song...

  • Sweet man

  • I think the clip from 2:13 to 2:30 is a studio take. Then, I believe the clip from 2:30 to 3:06 was at the California Jam in 1974. At 2:33, the rainbow in the background looks like the same one in Deep Purple "You Fool No One" video taken from that concert series.

  • Jackson Browne is a great artist, and my father's favorite, so I grew up on his music. I saw him in 2001 with Tom Petty and it was one of the best shows I ever been to, second only to seeing the great Brian Wilson and his fantastic band last fall. Great post, and I am glad to see there are other 20 somethings with taste.
