When I watched this match live, I was furious about the canadians ''dirty play'', butnow, when I've seen the situations in reply, years after the match, I am really dissapointed how Markström occurred. I am from Sweden but I've got to say that I think all those dives by Markström were cheap.

Do people actually believe Canada pays the refs? Canada won Gold for 5 straight years from 2005-2009, and 3 of those were in different countries! Before that in 93-97 and 4 of those were in different countries! In the last 4 years at WJC, 4 different countries won! What are we paying them???

What's Esposito supposed to do, turn a 180? Usually goalies come out of the crease when the puck is played down and no one's chasing it, but Esposito was chasing it from the blueline. Then that babboon Hedman gives him a headshot. What a goon! Did the same to Crosby and put the best NHL player in a concussion for 10 months!

First incident, sure he helps a little (difference between diving and helping) but that were because the Canadians had crashed the net to hard and Markström wanted t notify the reffs, which are very common in nhl.
Second, he takes his leg out in high speed. How can that be a dive? When you are as tall as Markström (6"6) that affects you even more. He is not even helping as the commentators are suggesting.
And i will not even address the third one.

actually watching this now, a couple of years later i can clearly see that markström isnt really being tackled or hit by the canada players. maybe except for the time when he skates away from the crease and a canadian player puts up the arm as if he were to tackle him, that looked suspicious but the other stuff isnt really penalties or anything. remember how upset i was when i watched this on the tv =X

1.) that was not a slew foot ( legcheck to you europeans) it was a legal hockey play, he never stuck his leg out or hanged direction to hit him, so not a penalty, that was just body contact
2.)he wasn't trying to "kill" the goalie, He was trng to win the race to the puck and at the same time mabe get into the goalies head ( It's called stratgey get him off his game)
3.) Markstrom sold that beyond belief, besides a candian goalie would have just hit him back rather then dive around
