Garfield is coming back to TV next week. It's called the Garfield Show. It's a CGI cartoon on Cartoon Network. I think it will be airing at 10:30 AM EDT/9:30 AM CDT.
It airs weekday mornings at 10:30 AM EST/9:30 AM CST & weekday afternoons at 3PM EST/2PM CST on Cartoon Network. The animation is kinda like Jimmy Neutron. In a Halloween episode, people mistook him for Catzilla. In another episode, he, Odie, & Jon had a pet turkey that drove them crazy. I also get Garfield comics daily in my E-mail.
lol this is such a funny promo! Seriously why can't cartoons be like this anymore? When actual work went into the animation, not relying on COMPUTER? So glad I have these on DVD.
This special was the first of the network's "Garfield franchise"- by the time the last prime-time special aired in 1991 {"Garfield Gets a Life'}, he was already starring in a weekly CBS Saturday morning series, "GARFIELD AND FRIENDS", and would have continued indefinitely if new management hadn't decided to do away with all prime-time animated specials except their venerable "Peanuts franchise"....
Both this and the "Garfield gets a Life" special are both together on the "Garfield As Himself" DVD. In fact, this video of Garfield on the chair is the DVD's menu screen. It was cool to see one of the first commercials in the franchise.
The original air date was going to be my question - I was born on October 19, 1982.
This was a funny special - the animation was quite different (I'm more familiar with Garfield circa 1985), and is it me, or did Jon sound like a stuffy British guy instead of a doofy cartoonist? I know it isn't the same voice actor, but still, thank goodness they replaced the original!
Jon was voiced by Sandy Kenyon in the first Garfield special. Then Thom Huge took over as the voice of Jon for all the rest of the Garfield specials and the "Garfield and Friends" series. The CGI Jon now is voiced by Wally Wingert.
Lorenzo Music had passed away long before even the live-action Garfield movies came out. The CGI version of the cat is now voiced by Frank Welker. The only actor that has always appeared in everything related to Garfield is Gregg Berger as Odie.
Yeah - Lorenzo Music died when I was between 12th grade and freshman year of college (that was in 2001). Frank Welker is a good replacement for him - he is such a good voiceover actor. And I didn't know that about Odie. Thanks!
@disneyfan85 whats that got to do with the price of fish? youtube aint a place for your life story unless u make a quick movie of it and then its only for people who click the watch movie thingy not people reading comments. gawd wats wrong wit u?????
It was CBS...and I do have promos (Beauty and the Beast; The Bold and the Beautiful) on an old 1988 REAL TAPING of The Young and the Restless...and it uses Central and Mountain...and all the Garfield and Charlie Brown shows were shown on CBS...and I have lost respect for CBS after they gave the rights to ABC...and I will NEVER watch CBS again if they give the rights to "Rudolph the REdnosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman" to someone else...that's all they got left for them!
