  • KEY CHANGE!!!!

  • WOW!! This just came to LIFE for me!! Never saw this before...and NEVER will think of this song again without Dorothy in my mind!! AMAZING!

  • I just love her laugh at the beginning! Great great great performance!

  • i keep hearing this on the tv lol in there. my aunt brenda if she was on crack which its crackin me up everything i hear it now.

  • Dorothy Loudon was also fabulous in Allan Sherman's musical, "The Fig Leaves Are Falling", in which she sang a knockout through-the-roof song called "All My Laughter"

and another very sad and poignant song called "Did I Ever Really Live?" which may have described Allan Sherman's too-short life.

  • I was fortunate to see Dorothy Loudon in "Noises Off" at the Martin Beck Theater in 1984 when I lived in NY. It wasn't a singing role but she had everyone on the floor of the theater! She was incredible. Thanks for posting!

  • PLEASE does anyone have the Mame referred to below. What an original glittering star she was. I saw her in Jerrys Girls - what a privilege to remember her!

  • This was the same Tony Awards where she was standing on a car while a circle of men sang Mame...you hear her just before you see her "don't look at your programs...it's me..." "jerry's thinking of me for the sequal...." haha

  • @actuallyperhaps The best Tony show of all time. That was a great moment, as was Julie Andrews singing Send in the Clowns and Chita Rivera and Gwen Verdon doing Nowadays.

  • In celebration of the Tony Awards, THIS is the definition of what used to be called pizzazz.

  • i love her

  • I have had the privilege of seeing Dorothy Loudon many times Annie,Ballroom, Sweeney Todd, West Side Waltz Jerry's Girls..She Always stopped the show A true legend up there with Merman, Martin, etc .Never gave a bad performance After WSW met her was wonderful.,kind.heading for subway ride home Signed my copy of her "Blue Angel 'Lp said she didnt have a copy I taped for her sent it She sent ,me a beautiful thank you letter I treasure Dorothy was that kind of person and a great performer I

  • I wonder if anyone got the joke about having her sing "Heck, I'd even play the maid" -- since she was the maid character in Noises Off that year.

  • that is an original lyric so this song came before Noises Off, which was in the 80's so yea

  • She just gives it EVERYTHING. What a great performer. I would love to have seen her perform live - absolutely brilliant!

  • God I remember that night so well. Dorothy had just turned 51 and was still amazing . The sad part was the next morning the papres slammed her for " over mugging".... that was Dorothy . She was a joy to work with and I still miss her !

  • she was an unforgettable performer. Anyone who saw her in Annie will never forget how funny she was. Very underrated. One of the all time greats!

  • "I bet you didn't know whatcha had when you wrote this one, Steve! ANOTHER KEY CHANGE!"

    haa I LOVE this woman!

  • Dorothy Loudon was perfection in every way. I am so grateful that another clip of Loudon was posted. I am always hoping that more will be found because she was a theatrical treasure that should continue to be cherished.

  • Thank YOU for the great comments! I really didn't know a lot about Ms. Loudon until a few years ago - but I am continually knocked out by the vibrancy of her performances... so much polish and being safe in performing now - she was truly alive.

  • Well, THAT was well said!

  • If those who watch this, and haven't seen much of ms Loudon , combine it with a look at the 1977 Tony's performance of "Annie" - where she's doing "Easy street" with Rooster and Lily, the 1986 Tonys former winners medley (where Dorothy also does "Easy street") and of course the 1979 Tony awards "50 per cent" - you'll see a performer who let's the singing, acting and choreography get run through the caracter instead of the performer - that's acting, if anything. Thanks, once again!

  • The magic, I think, lies in the fact that she makes averything seem totally improvised, totally invented in that very second - it doesn't feel rehersed or predecided in any way. You have no idea were she's taking you, always in the verge, al the time she keeps you on the toes (when she starts adressing "mister producer"s in the audience, or Steve himself).

  • Thank you for posting this in a better version. Dorothy Loudon was really one of a kind, in every sense of the word. This clip is the definition of a show stopper - can anything be done after this?! She even gets away with one of the worst costmues ever (must be the wardrobe mistress' way of enhancing Broadway BABY, or something). Anyone who wants to get in tho show business, or working, should see this.
