Jesus do me a favour.The Jam had their influences firmly stamped on their sleeves.But they conjured up something original with out being slave to them.This excruciating band not only musically ape their influences,they even wear the same clothes as them and mimic a range of stage moves aswell.Its embarrassing

Come off it mate...I've been a die-hard Jam/Weller fan since they began but if you think its original you are deluding yourself...from The Who, Small Faces, The Pretty Things, Clash, Neil Young, Weller has been nicking ideas from them all...

Trust me, I was of the same opinion as you until I saw OCS live...if you understood their level of musicianship you would have more respect for them...

Yeah, Weller is a sharper dresser, but come on, its about music at the end of the day...

its not about dextrous skills on guitar its about how a tune sounds.Cpt Haddock flounders away trying to fool all and sundry that he is some kind of virtuoso when in fact he is merely a purveyor of pastiche.Given the fact that their tunes are mostly forgettable their lineage to some of the bands you mention is laughable.Wellers own output has suffered because of the continuing role he gives the haddock.

I was never Steve Cradock's biggest fan and always felt he was riding on Weller's shirt-tails, all because I was a Jam/Weller puritan...I never gave them a chance...this changed after seeing them live..

I don't think you could say songs like 'Circles' and '100 Mile High City' are forgettable..Maybe OCS are a pastiche of the 60s bands they try to emulate, but they never professed to be anything else. Not as consistently good as Weller, but I personally haven't seen any other band better live...
