@thetwinkleturnip Not saying that she was'nt, but some people embellish to look like big shots.They either did'nt know the person they claim to have known, or they did'nt look at them as others did, because of one or more biases. Many people are insufferable as children, but divorce and family deaths can take people down a few pegs, make them more compassionate, and teach humility!

Anita Bryant is by far the better singer, in fact the best, and she is by far more beautiful than anyone else. Anita Bryant is my favorite singe and for me she just happens to be the best and that is why she is my favorite singer.

Remember this discovery? 1973. Beautiful song.. beautiful girl.. beautiful voice. Could have gone soo much further if she wan't paired with Donny. Don't get me wrong, I love Donny, and Donny and Marie.. but the pairing went from phenomenon to culture fad so quick. I can only imagine the pop hits Marie could've had on her own.

Wow! I have not heard this song in so long! I was a huge Osmond fan way back in the 70's and my Grandpa (God rest his soul) bought me the 45 of this song. I still have it.

Marie decided to have her first album be a country one so she would not compete with her brothers The Osmonds (Alan, Wayne,Merrill, and Jay), Donny, and Jimmy, who were in the pop and rock genre. "Paper Roses" was not only a #1 song on the country charts, but on the pop charts as well.

@jbird11368 You're still half right, if you consider Adult Contemporary to be "pop" music. It spent a week at #1 on the Easy Listening singles chart (renamed the Adult Contemporary chart in 1979).
I've heard that Sonny James ("Young Love") was the one who came up with the idea of Marie doing this song to break her through into the country market. Good call.... such a beautiful voice for such a young girl. However, she didn't really find lasting country success until the mid-'80s.
