The Houston was a Northampton class, and was 600ft long, the New York class Battleships were about 570ft long. Dimensions don't always depict warship designations.

apparently youve never been around a Zero before. You can shoot the wing off of a zero with a B.A.R. (browning assault rifle). If you didnt know already, most WWII planes were made out of a paper-thin sheet metal so that it could fly without dropping like a brick. Nowadays we have large, powerful jet engines so they can support more armor now, but that wasnt the case in the 40s and 50s.

It all depends on the shot. The Zero wa one of the most feared planes especially early on as it was extremly powerfull and tough and outclassed p-38s. A Spitfire though, if was hit by a modern missile would be obliterated id imagine as its wood and modern day 50.cal rounds would down it instantly. As With must WW2 era planes shots to the coolant will seize the engine as leave the plane a glider

its knowledge. Under the fabrication of the wings, the fuselage was thin metal made usually from recycled domestic metals ( like pots and pans, had to give up ours and our garden railings). underneath that was struts of metal, like girders. along this was wood sometimes, and also around the cockpit was wood i believe? mostly it was sheet metal over hollow body

Sorry mate, but you're talking bollocks. Zeros weren't tough either; one quick spray of bullets, on-target, would bring it down. Hell, a guy on the ground, firing a Thompson, could theoretically perforate a Zero enough to bring it down (but then, that's true of many aircraft if the firer is a good shot).

No, I rejected you claim. The Zero was actually tougher then most people give credit for. As a early war plane, it was weaker then its opponents but a spray of bullets would be enough to cripple most planes in the pre and early war years. ( for example, a round, to the engine coolant of the spitfire would destroy the flight of that craft. a few rounds to a Messch. tail would destroy it). Well in that respect, using any weapon a good shot could cause damage to a plane providing it was low.

The zero was the only plane the japanse used that was actually able to be compared with one of theirs in the first place, the only thing inferior to the p-38 was the speed and the maneuvrabillity, It was less armoured to make it lighter and more agile, while the p38 had more armour and more guns, thus better protection, and yes the zero was a worthy opponent, but that all changed when the hellcat came into play, 6 50. call guns will mess up a zero real fast.

Yea thats right. P-38 pilots did not want to get into turn battles with Zeros and Zero pilots did not want to find their selves in front of a p-38. the P-38 was also a product of industrial machine, they could be churned out over the zero especially in the later years. The Hell cat was a tough little work horse and could take a fair amount of rounds.

It aint all about looks, take the P-47 for example, its an ugly plane but damn it was good. Yeah a corsair could easily take on a zero, but the zero was from the early war years. It was still a lethal plane in the hands of a trained pilot, but then again most planes are.

yeah i know what ya mean... and the P-47 was so effective it stayed in service until about 1970 and was used as a close suport bomber in vietnam. the Corsair entered service in 1944 and the zero was i think 1938 so theres little comparison. and yes all planes are effective in the hands of a good pilot.

No he is not being a sick freak. If you play WWII shooter online you have to either pick or auto-assign on some servers to be allies or axis. I believe Carmen is right, having a WWII shooter where you can play through both sides of a campaign to get the full experience of what each side went through.

There are depots, ships and what not that are on the ground. I think the best strategy is to make sure you quick save little damage to ur plane. Focus on the targets on the surface and than the Jap's in the sky. Don't give up.
