For the actual arcade games it's Raiden. For the home ports, they couldn't use "Raiden" because it was claimed by some company (probably Nintendo, I'm not sure). Anyway, because of that, they had to change it to "Rayden" for home ports.

@Silviola824 Raiden used to be a video game series owned by Seibu hence they couldn't use it.

@Silviola824 Just on MK1 and also it was explained it was an tying error in his name and was later fixed in future MK games. His name is Raiden in all versions of the game.
