Bruce Lee quote made a big change in my life... September the 3rd i had a tournament in T.K.D I was losing in the beginning but then his quote came into mind while fighting... then from losing i came first.. thx u bruce lee
this is a great promo but I really wished that they added more fighters, like the pitbull brothers, curran, the champions and so on, but this was nicely put together aside from what was previously mentioned
@ZlatiWolf bruce lee was an actor.. yea he could fight, but,, professional fighters fight for their bread ! so there is NO better fighter than pro fighters... steven seagal, bruce lee, jet lee... they have skill, but they are ACTORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@keysersmokey He can't be serious, but if he is then someone call his village because they're missing their idiot! It astounds me that he made such an abysmally ignorant claim on a youtube video, when all he has to do is input Bruce Lee in the search bar......his results of "facepalm", "I told you so", and "you're a douche" may vary.
@johnblaster You're a fucking idiot. LOL The better question is, what the hell do YOU know? Do a search on any search engine for Bruce Lee and you will find almost every martial artist and fighter today crediting Bruce Lee as one of the greatest martial artists of all time no matter what style they come from.
I see all the people here commenting on Bruce Lee and whether or not he had a grond game and all. The argumet is futile, Bruce Lee was a work in progress that he never finished. His Tao of Jeet Kune Do was just one work he did, he had more but never finished. His move to the ground game was seen in ENTER THE DRAGON when he had Sammo Hung in the Crucifix. If he were alive right now, he would be beaten in the Octagon, but if he evolved to what he wanted to be, learned from today he would be great.
In how much the sport has evolved today hell lose the fight but basing myself in his genius for adapting and learning fighting techniques and athletic ability, discipline and great physical condition(let,s not forget he was an innovator in fitness) and his one of the best assets he had his mindset and mental toughness id say with a good training camp and trainer and proper sparring partners he,d be a great fighter and maybe top 5 in the world lightweight .
SICKKKKK COMMERCIAL!!! Totally loved it, but.........wasn't Rico Rodriquez one of the fighters in there.....well if he was they need to X-him out, just like he got X-ed last night!! LOL!!
@bigspliffs Agreed. I certainly enjoy his teachings and own a few of books in his philosophies and training.
I just believe that his fans make him out to be this unstoppable man which just gets annoying. Especially when they call themselves MMA fans and say that Bruce Lee invented MMA without actually reading into MMA's history, Bruce was definitely apart of it but not the creator.
@MMAUpdater Its Bruce's philosophy and mind set that made him the legend that he is. I don't think we should focus on his ability or lack of in combat, as we then lose out on the beauty of his teachings. As Bruce once said, "It's like a finger pointing away to the moon. Don't concentrate on the finger, or you will miss all the heavenly glory."
@bigspliffs I also think people often forget that while Bruce Lee's physical feats were impressive, he was first and foremost a philosopher and innovator. The ideas and concepts he pushed for were what made him stand out.
@MMAUpdater Largely unproven? What do you base this on? Because he didnt fight your pet jon jones he unproven? Bruce lee fought many competitions, and won, official and unofficial. If your only talking about his grappling skills, do your research, he learned Jujitsu as well.
@MMAUpdater Narrow minded view. Bruce WAS the first to mix things up. NOT talking about mixing striking and grappling, you dimwit. There are hundreds of systems that have done that for thousands of years. We are talking about mixing jujitsu with karate, karate with boxing, muay thai with kung fu. THAT is mixed martial arts. Bruce came up with that concept while Karate and Judo were just getting a foothold in America and most people in the world outside of Asia didn't even know what kung fu was.
@MMAUpdater WRONG. The very FIRST MMA competition took place in the early 1990s. They pitted fighters from different styles to compete against one another. NOT talking about striking and grappling. Talking different styles - kung fu vs boxing, karate vs street fighter, etc. The very first MMA competition ever broadcasted announced the fighters by what style and school they came from. There was even a ninja, who sad to say got his ass handed to him by a thai boxer. LOL
Please come back to cable tv. mma needs more competition, dont need ufc to keep buying out every other mma organization and 1 more thing PLEASE dont let them buy you out.
In how much the sport has evolved today hell lose the fight but basing myself in his genius for adapting and learning fighting techniques and athletic ability, discipline and great physical condition(let,s not forget he was an innovator in fitness) and his one of the best assets he had his mindset and mental toughness id say with a good training camp and trainer and proper sparring partners he,d be a great fighter and maybe top 5 in the world lightweight .
and technically the first mixed martial artist... because he figured out that taking certain skill sets from a variety of martial arts and combining them into your overall game plan was the key. Bruce Lee was way ahead of his time.
@secret212000 I wouldnt call him the first mix martial artist. He was the first famous mix martial artist but there were people mixing and mashing martial arts for a while people had mixed taekwondo and muay thai for a long time.
True. But those guys weren't being seen by anyone, they weren't sharing their techniques with the world. Bruce didn't give a fuck about tradition and all that nonsense, he shared his secrets with everybody.
@secret212000 My only problems with bruce lee is he had a mediocre ground game because when he learned jiu jitsu for the first time he got man handled i forgot the name of the instructor who taught him and he never competed in anything against other martial artist. He was a martial artist and a philosopher but a fighter hmm idk about that.
But he still took the time to study jiu jitsu because he understood the importance of being able to defend yourself everywhere. It doesn't really matter that he wasn't good at it, the stand up game was clearly his main focus. I respect him for opening the world's eyes, especially those who believed that martial arts was for asians only.
@secret212000 I respect what he has done and his effort in learning a ground game before people acknowledged the ability of grapplers but i hate when people think he was a fighter, not saying you said he was a fighter just saying.
I hear that. I think Bruce Lee was a martial artist and an actor. He was also a fighter in my opinion, he has fought in real battles but was mainly known for his acting.
@lilsm555 When he was in a position to fight what could he have done professionally? Box?
It's conjecture because of his time & when he passed but had he been able to bring his skillset to any level of developed MMA he could have dominated at least 2 lighter divisions. He was Very adept @ Judo & JJ, & would have had untouchable striking obviously.
@DMTilian No he defiantly would get slaughtered in a boxing match go look at the video of him hitting a heavy bag, he has no punching technique. He was alright in jiu jitsu and judo he wasnt very good at it. I already talked about this to someone else you can believe w/e you want im talking about facts.
@lilsm555 No, my point is he wouldn't of boxed because that's almost anti-JKD & I guarentee he wouldn't have been slaughtered had he decided to & adapted his technique; but then that's freezing water!
No punching technique lol Bruce Lee?! I kno the heavy bag footage u mean where he's just lumping it. With his speed & athleticism he could have easily turned to boxing, but why when his skillset was vassstttly beyond it.
There are no facts here its conjecture. He'd of been dangerous in MMA tho
@DMTilian Mr its just a conjecture. Bruce lee was just a regular martial artist not a fighter to say he would of done good in a fighting sport when he never competed a day in his life is ridiculous and yes thats shitty way of hitting the heavy bag anyone can have good technique and show athleticism. Bruce lee has been over hyped to this figure he cant live up to.
@lilsm555 I guess we'll have to leave it down to baseless disagreement dude... I could challenge every point there. & never competed in what specifically, generic pro fightig sports? he was a martial arts competitor, be it casual & was a teacher to quite a few.
Ur last sentence sums up just how much conjecture any of this levers on.
@lilsm555 I'm only 25 years old, but you are, unambiguously, the dumbest piece of shit I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. Not only are you horribly mistaken in your misinformed claim that Bruce Lee never took part in actual competition, but someone should throttle you for blatantly disrespecting such an iconic man who accomplished more in 32 short years than you will in your pathetic life!
@lilsm555 That's about the comment I'd have expected from an anal-spawned internet troll like you; trying to educate your kind on the principles of an iconic fighter would be the equivalent of a deaf mute screaming at a brick wall. And yes, I am a fan and know all about his legacy; I suggest you call a paramedic to remove your foot from your mouth and your head from out of your ass so you can at least google Bruce Lee for some factual information! Fuck you, and have a nice day.
@bleedsburntorange LOL coming from the guy who started off by insulting me? go read back at what you wrote and you are upset at me for responding like that.
@lilsm555 No because they'r all more selective in their styles & granted when put like that the whole concept loses credibility, & sounds Fkn ridiculous. It will always come down to a moot poit, but Lee would have had a MUCH better chance than any of those lot... Chans kung-fu is Fkn incredible tho! 5 style master, won't get you too far with a beastly wrestler smothering you, but still.
@DMTilian bruce lee knew some ground game but he barely had any and his striking is below par after reviewing the punch bag scene none of that fancy wing chun works in mma. I respect what bruce lee has done but i wouldnt take it that far to consider him a good fighter because thats just speculation since he never fought any quality opponents.
@lilsm555 One punch bag scene ur basing his whole striking repetoire, ok... & quality opponents in what!?
What sport could you use AT THAT TIME as a measure of his MMA potential. We'll agree to disagree on the level of our own spculation then, again it's conjecture, but I know what I think.
@lilsm555 Shut up man, seriously you just sound like an idiot, what the fuck would you know about his ground game. The guy trained with Gene Lebell, the most legendary Judo master of our time, i'm sure he's got a bit of ground game... moron.
@lilsm555 Bruce Lee's striking is anything but sub par. He once demonstrated his speed by saying to a man six feet away "I am going to tap your forehead, try to block me." He tapped him and was back to where he was by the time the guy flailed his arm in a futile attempt to block. You can't hit OR take down what you can't touch.

Bruce Lee was a great innovator of many things.
But 3 months of Judo does not make you a grappling expert. We still have yet to see how good he ever was at putting everything together.
Just face it he is largely unproven and very much surrounded by myth.

@secret212000 You need to learn about Vale Tudo. It's the sport MMA was based off of. It began 20 years before Bruce Lee was even born.
Bruce wasn't the first mix things up, I can't believe you fell for that.
Vale Tudo is basically MMA but with less rules and restrictions. Then go back to the Ancient Olympics and look up Pankration.
