  • why does he have the harmonica if he never used it?

  • Seeing them saturday, excited excited.

  • This is awesome, and that's an amazing building

  • i would pk the shit out of that place

  • to me, the most underrated musician of our time

  • i love this song. he sounds a lot like m ward.

  • I listen to quite a bit of folk music. Nothing that would qualify me as anything more than an avid listener to the music. I was unaware of Leif Vollebekk until I heard him on CBC Radio 2 and I was completely blown away. Maybe I am partial because of my Canadian heritage but he is going to be one of the best of his time.

  • Le video est eeeeexcellent, superbe toune Leif!

  • Superbe vidéo! Quel artiste... On t'aime Leaf!

  • Probably my favorite Take Away show, pretty much everything about this is beautifully sublime. Henry Townsend would be very proud.

  • ive been revising for my geography gcse all day including work on cairo, and stumbled across this video purely by clicking from one link to another.. coinsidence? :)

  • Blocky, industrial, digital surroundings. Smooth, organic, analogue music.

  • He sounds as goos as when i saw him live!

  • where can i download this on mp3?

  • i really want to learn this on guitar. la blogotheque, you have the BEST videos on youtube. i'm a huge fan

  • Amazing music and architecture! <3

  • I can't stop listening this music... I don't know why :)

  • I met this guy over the summer. he was supporting Sam Amidon, i told him I'd buy him a pint if he was any good, needless to say, i bought him a pint. We talked about Jeff Buckley and how a song can be totally ruined for you if u set it as a morning alarm on your phone

  • c'moooon... he tries to be Paolo Nutini

  • @kattien Meh, every band/artist sounds like they are trying to emulate another artist, band or sound.

  • @SuperAsianCrunchTime oh really?? ahahahaha... never heard such a stupid thing

  • @kattien Lief makes Nutini sound like an amateur...

  • @weebs22 hahhhahhhahhhhaaa now you really made me laugh

  • That's a beautiful place to sing in. The echo is perfect and his voice is awesome too! :)

  • what the... fudgcicle. lol

  • Jeff Buckley's singing style.

  • @Szygenda He also sounds a lot like Patrick Watson !

  • Ha! Habitat 67! and I just discover another great artist! Merci La Blogothèque!

  • I really like this a whole lot it makes my day alot better listening to this

  • Wow...top architecture, music, filming...top arts coming together nicely...Nature threw her bit in as well. Great video altogether. Buen trabajo muchachos.

  • I love this sun.

  • Another exceptional video.

  • is this girls name cay-ro or kye-ro

  • @dudeinasuit321 it's about an american city, Cairo. Maybe I don't get the point :-)

  • Where can i get this song ? :]

  • "he says that he has a Masters degree in Philosophy from Reikjavik, and when he talks to you he explains that it's just to impress girls." With that smile and that voice, he doesn't need anything else.

  • Greetings from Cairo-o :)

  • #OMG Pure nugget !!! Perfect sound, awesome filming, great voice and beautilfull song. Chryde, Mitch, Francois, et tous ceux qui vous aident, vous dé-chi-rez, merci pour ce super boulot !

  • Aw SHOOT! I wish I could've seen that building when I was in Montreal last week :

Anyways, I believe the wonderful sound quality comes from those long studio mics, floating above the artist yet unseen by the camera. Has the mystery been solved?

  • @antigravity000 mystery unsolved sorry!

  • @SouthernSouls Darn, I thought I had it >.< Aw well, whatever it is, it's terrific.

  • wow...

  • yes! leif vollebekk is absolutely brilliant. I first heard about him on this itunes podcast a few months back & immediatly bought his cd upon hearing "you couldn't lie to me in paris" This guy needs more publicity he's amazing & needs to tour the u.s.

  • Thats that huge apartment complex somewhere near Niagara Falls!

  • @llamavszombie it's actually in Montreal

  • @llamavszombie the apratment is not near niagra, its built in montreal and its called habitat 67

  • You guys are just..amazing. You never disappoint. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to discover beautiful, beautiful music.

  • Beautifull music.. song with the heart

  • Very well done

  • I wish I could give this video one million thumbs up!

  • every single time, i get even more amazed, just keep up the work, this is just fabulous.

  • Kind of reminds me of Jeff Buckley, and I love it :)

  • This is absolutely beautiful. Take Away Shows are very simply amazing.

  • Anyone have an idea of what tuning he might be in? I need to pick this one out.

  • 0:13 :O very 4b5tr4kt

  • haha! Beautiful location :]

nice sounds. I love la blogotheque

  • what a cutie<3 lol

  • This song needs some harmonica. It was calling for it, but it never came... :/

  • @UnfamousJames I know, right? XD

  • I think it would be very cool (now that you have clearly nicer recording equipment) to get Andrew Bird and/or Annie Clark (St. Vincent) back to do something.

  • How do they get such an amazing recording sound...i need to know. It sounds studio quality.

  • @MrKindLife Ha ha that's our little secret. But we can swear it was only recorded there, no studio sound

  • @LaBlogotheque Sneaky! I'm always looking for clues in the videos, hoping to see the reflection of a mic or two!

  • @jonorenton in this video there's a clue in the first minute or so (but was not used in the final mix)

  • @francoisfromblogo I just see a wireless mic inside the guitar! I'll keep looking ;)

  • @LaBlogotheque I love your videos so much, they're so great. this one's not an exception. just to put it out there have you ever thought of making a video with florence and the machine? I think that would be outstanding.

  • @LaBlogotheque is it a boom ribbon mic?

  • @LaBlogotheque TELL US THE SECRET

  • @MrKindLife I would guess they used a directional mic of some type. Either mounted on a boom or I think in this case probably mounted on the camera and aimed more or less between his eyes. But still, it's well done. Nice work guys.

  • @MrKindLife they probs had a boom... like a mike on a pole, plus look where hes at

  • @MrKindLife I think they use a series of ZOOM H4 or H2 or t=somthing like that... maybe its multi mic'ed up using a similar mixer field recorder :)

  • Damn, I totally thought he would PLAY that harmonica... Guess not. :/

But this is so much love!~ What a voice!

  • @MaBelleIndifference sorry he actually had on other songs... but this one has such a feeling !

  • What a beautiful place to sing, such interesting architecture, song (and a beautiful guitar to match!). Thank you for this, I love you guys for giving me wonderful music <3

  • what is this place??

  • @alphadude500

    habitat 67

  • @yihiouou its incredible, id like to shoot down there some time

  • this guy is incredibly talented. reminds me of dylan for some reason..

  • @hobbsmusic I was thinking the exact same thing. I think it's because of their mannerisms while singing, like the facial expressions and such.

  • @sesshomaru322 no, it's harmonica rack!

  • Damn, this guy isn't on Rhapsody either. Sadface. Excellent musician! Hope to hear more from Leif!

  • "What the fudge-sicle" lol. Not really into the style of music, but I liked how much the artist seemed very into what he was playing. Once again, nice video!

  • I really enjoyed this.

  • Amazing.

  • by the way, nice architecture...

  • Fantastic!

  • Can't fault it musically, just wasn't doing anything for me sadly.

  • this guy is a fucking psycho

  • @Creamy360

    captivating comment.

  • @Creamy360 Lol at the asshole posting generic hater comments as soon as he sees them instead of just enjoying a good song and video.

  • @Creamy360 there aren't enough words in the English language i guess.

  • love it

  • Beautiful
