  • Though I didn't rate this video, I just wish B.B. could have had a band backing him instead of a doggone tape.

  • thats music

  • My old friend 240p

  • ohhh i´m so hot right now!!! take me king!! or any of you dirty bastards!! D: NOW!!!

  • today.......i am born!!!

  • I wish it was like that today. LOOk all he needs is a guitar, and amp, and his voice. Today talent is to sexually influenced. He Owns

  • @HawksFloyd That Ceelo character has got some respectable R & B influences. Seems like he uses real instruments most of the time unlike most modern R & B artists. It sounds so much better with a real drum kit and real guitar. People have ditched the warm soul for ice cold synthesizers.

  • love him.

  • The guitar is always named Lucille - you are used to the black 335.

  • 40 years later... still the king

  • Speacial

  • Wow, he was young and without Lucille! He had it all anyway....thanks for posting this.

  • Wow a VERY young Kenny Rogers introducing him... cool.

  • I miss the days when people sounded the same live as they did on the revord

  • R.I.L. Betty Givens 4/4/41-4/19/00.... My mother loved BB King so much she we would play this song everyday sayen make lucille sang. She even named her pistol after her sayen lucille dont miss a beat baby!!!! I love you this one for you girl....

  • omg theres an gibson Es335 but where is lucille???

  • @MsMarcel0 B.B. King already called his stock 335 lucille before Gibson started making his signature "Lucille" model in 1982.

  • @MsMarcel0 what about the fender amps , he plays through, those things are awsome to ,loud ,clean ,look great, made in USA

  • Simply amazing!

  • the best guitarist ever was...he not only has the skills...he not only sings a voice...he sings a guitar...he expresses his soul by guitar. You can read alot of emotions from his face

  • I will see him live this evening. Awesome!!

  • DANG!!!! They call soul music because it affect's your soul;BB does it every time

  • the greatest thing is that for all of us enjoying his music so immensely, the one person who looks like he enjoys it the most is actually himself. completely at peace when performing. what a presence.

  • What show is this from?

  • HE'LL BE IN GERMANY NEXT MONTH AND I WILL BE THERE IN BONN!!!

  • This man is the best blues singer ever.

  • the Thrill is still alive

  • olà BB ...what a fucking great look you have...so young!

  • this is Real Music.

the kind of stuff you dont hear anymore. its so rare for someone to make music like this consistently.

music with substance and character, the likes of which is gone, the thrill is gone.

  • I heard B.B. King and Lightnin' Hopkins play at the Paramount in Seattle in 1970. What a fabulous concert and a great crowd--definitely not so blond or so young. We were all dancin' the blues. My girlfriends and I were 17 and in from the suburbs for a night of reality, well, slightly medicated reality. I'm still in love with B.B. King.

  • My man will soon find out that THE THRILL IS GONE...you'd think when I closed up shop he would have figured it out with his slow ass...LMBBAO! Why am I sharing this ? I like writing funny ish!

  • song is 1 in a mil, check out the tie :D

  • I would kill for that amp and guitar haha

  • A much younger B.B. King performs The Thrill is Gone. Just awesome!

  • one key in playing good blues guitar is making all those funny faces.

  • this is a playback!

  • How do you know. Anyway, BB The King never use playback, that would have been very bad move of the great singer and guitarist god Mr. BB king.

  • What a life in the song. Lordy !

  • He looks so wierd without his chubby cheeks. :)

BB King always in my veins.

  • They had him solo over the studio track -- even over his studio solos! (You can hear the recorded and live solos together.) Kenny Rogers, how cheap can you get?

  • @terrythecensor Seriously, that is lame. You can't solo over your studio solo.. ahhhh

  • wow this is so f...kin unbelievable........damnnnnnnnn!

  • HE IS THE KING!

  • HE IS OLD NOW SO ENJOY HIM WHILE WE CAN SOMEDAY THE THRILL WE BE GONE AND WE WILL REALLY MISS HIM LIKE A OLD FRIEND

  • The thrill is gone...

    An' the chill is on...

  • BB playing with backing tapes!!!!! he looks amused, but at least he got on Country TV show.

  • you ten people if you want to be differend find something better than this and tell us

  • A lieutenant talkin 2 his captain..Sir request permision to use the time machine to travel to November 25 1971 so I can see the best blues player ever preform live....The cPTAIN SAID SURE NO PROBLEM, BUT WHATS THE BLUES !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love this tune!

  • the thrill is definitely not gone! amazing bluesman...

  • 10 people prefer Britney.....and are gay

  • BONE CHILLIN'

  • 10 rassists who pushed the dislike button get the fuck off !!

  • I saw BBK perform this song a.o. at the North Sea Jazz Festival at The hague in 1985. Oh man.......

  • Is it just him with a tape minus the vocal track? Now that's one cheap ass TV show.

  • saw him last night in savannah GA, the man still has it...

  • Yeah baby1 BB King sing it!!!

  • You can just feel his soul flowing out with every note, every time he shakes and bends those stings you can just feel it shake and bend your soul with them

  • Thanks ............ love this man

  • he is still cool as fuck today, i mean cool as in shill and smooth, not the popular one (well he is also cool like that)

  • how can someone dislike this video?

  • Kenny!!! Hahahahahaha!!!

  • I think I just Sold BB king my soul LOL

  • wow this song is from 1971 very cool song

  • BB king really has soul , he never plays the thrill is gone the same way, you try and find two videos on youtube with him playing it the same. It's how he feels on the night. I love that about the King...BB is a true legend

  • YOU BETCHA...

  • is that lucille?

  • @teesteven No...it's B.B. King

  • @mattsvideothing i think he asked you about the guitar...

  • @Tracker932 I know I was just being a smart ass. :P

  • @mattsvideothing made me laugh anyway

  • @teesteven i'm pretty sure it is, although i dont think it was named at this point...but don't quote me on that

  • @InstrumentalMania ok, heard him tell the story about tthat guitar once!

  • @InstrumentalMania i think his guitar was named Lucille in 1949 :)

  • Великолепно и после ЭТОГО еще бы не ЖИТЬ ......Парень 10000 лет тебе счастья и жизни

  • Aside from it's documentary value, the lip syncing, BB's original vocals in the back and his solo over his own solo makes this performance not worth much. Still BB is BB, and the man is a legend.

  • Dang, Look @ The Pink Shirt...But Him And Other Big Men Make It So Nice. the Thrill was gone.

  • @MzChloe129 You are absolutely right, the pink shirt looks very cool on B.B.King

  • mmmhmm i love this..

  • What a thrill to hear,...B.B.King!

    "The Thrill Is Gone."

    Goose-Bumps!

  • i can truly say the thrill is gone away for me. Hell, I don't mess it one bit. I'm glad David C. Thomas is part of my life. I love my teddy bear always.

  • I of course love BB but I don't like how it's like a karaoke. Especially how the backing music has lead guitar and singing already on it. I guess his band couldn't fit on that small stage but it would've been nice.

  • love !

  • This song hits you in the stomach......

  • pain in the music , the lyrics so true ! this is sharing , blues , music ! Can`t buy this quality

  • kenny rodgers... wow famous at that time for Ruby.. good stuff

  • you're stupid

  • Yes thats quite a beautiful sound he gets from it eh?

  • That's when they started that playback-bullshit. There's no sense in letting a blues-singer cover himself. This is the only movie of that kind I've seen so far. I don't think that B.B. was too happy doing this...

  • i didnt know he could stand :) but seriously, amazing guitarist with amazing feel and rhythm the ideal blues player

  • If this song came out today, it would be just as fresh & soulful.

  • hey there dewie159..blues will never make a comeback, because it never left...it will always be there for you.. peace out bro

  • If I'm not mistaken he released this again in the early eighties and it was a smash hit. I remember it was the theme song to a Jeff Goldblum movie and the video was on MTV all the time. Jeez, I never knew the song dates back to 1970. Thanks, jakep.

  • i hope blues makes a comeback one day. i like rock and all that but theres just not enough jazz styles

  • The Man has a sound you can feel.

What I called a "Broken Soul"

When he says "The Thrill is Gone" you not only hear it but you FEEL it. He's a Classic.

  • @cashe18 thats what todays music lacks

  • @cashe18 Yes. Absolutely. He's such a Master : for the best blues singer of the last 40 years.

As a guitarist, well, he's a legend of style, sound, elegance, feelin' and sound.

A touch of his guitar is a blessing. He gives me joy and peace in my heart.

I love him for all he has done and still does. Thanks BB !

  • @cashe18 This was written while he was going through a bad divorce, so you are very observant....he definitely was very blue during this period.

  • @flamesounds I didn't see the first message, but am guessing you are talking about B B King writing this song. It was Roy Hawkins who wrote this song in 1951, and then some years later B B King did a copy of it.

  • @Eliassee I didn't know this-thank you for the clarification....I do recall reading the recording had a very personal significance to him at the time, so I assumed he wrote it. Thanks again for the info.....

  • @flamesounds No problem. I was a bit disappointed when I heard that it wasen't his song, but we can say after 50 years that this is, and will always be B B Kings song :)

  • B.B.'s got his own 'backing' and/or jam track here...

    cool guitar echo.

    sweet. Jam on.

  • @Ledvolta

Yeah, sounds like he's playing over the LP track, you can hear his original track, turned down in places. I think his vocal here is not just lip-synched. Not 100 per cent sure though. So much TV was lip-synched in those days, but if he is, in the closeups he's doing a very good job of it.

I listened to that original LP a million times. It reached all kinds of people who normally didn't listen to blues, it was probably the number 1 blues cross-over album of all time.

  • @Ledvolta he's playing along with the original version, you can here the original guitar, and vocals in the backround when BB Doesn't play along with them.

  • such a sweet voice,bb king may be one of the most consistent and productive musicians ever, imagine he started recording in the 40'ties !?! nothing but respect for this man

  • Where's the rest of the music coming from?

  • @elduath the music is coming from speakers... notice the begging it has the original song's riffs but he changed it up so it sounds like there's too guitars. He's just playing to his own cd track.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • @ZribTurd no cds in 1971 lol

  • who in the hell cares ? just enjoy

  • Thanks for the polite advice.

  • Top notch... TOP.

  • klassik blues!!!!

  • dang his guitar playing makes my face melt off

  • magnifique j aime bien

  • whoever that guy is in the beginning...i would not let him around my kids...creepy

  • why?

  • kenny rogers

  • Kenny Rogers???!!!

  • Lol! Hilarious

  • I like his hair!!! lol

    I love you B.B.!

  • Love the bass playing on this version!

  • Two amazing performers

This is a video clip from Rollin' (On the River) TV series hosted by Kenny Rogers and The First Edition between 1971 - 1973.

The 52 episodes were filmed in Toronto, Canada. Rollin' was among the most watched syndicated shows in Canada and the USA

The First Edition became the first pop rock group to host their own prime time TV series in the USA.

    Thanks for sharing

  • BB is playing live guitar over the recording, you can hear his original lead in the background, he is just adding to it. but miming the lyrics. Sad way to treat a true live and spontaneous artist. He could have given a truer perfomance without the backing track, just his voice and guitar. Shame

  • I think the guitar and vocals are live. The band is playback.

    A great track indeed.

  • Great tune, fantastic artist but this is so strange with King standing in front of a bunch of people lip-synching (and playing air guitar) to his record...!

  • He actually is playing.

  • bb king is nothing compared to hannah montana lol just joking bb king is a true master of the blues ;p

  • had the extreme honor of meeting him... Completely blew me away and I had no idea of what to say to him other than "Thank You"

  • gave me chills man

  • hell ya man everytime

  • This brought tears to my eyes. simply magical piece of music history.

    thanks 4 upload.

  • exactly 29 yrs before i was born

  • charming window treatments

  • Kenny Rogers holy shit! wow along time before "The Gambler"

  • no one can do it like the king of the blues

  • two years b4 i was born. god, this is music! they dont make em like this no more thats for sure.

  • best version!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing. Mean's Much to Me. Love Detroit......

  • He is just playing guitar over the original track

  • i love this guy...he must be God's roommate or something...

  • freakin awesome song...with an equally awesome tie.

  • Superb !!!

  • bb king a living legend please teach your kids about this music dont ever forget what we have music is something passed down

  • A master in his prime :O)

  • Queria eu poder dizer que estou livre do feitiço daquela garota...passe o tempo que for, talvez quanto terminar a eternidade eu consiga esquecê-la...B.B forever...

  • It is one of my favorite BB-s songs. OMG, I was 15 at that time, but then we had not had any idea about a music called 'blues'. Anyway I think you must be above a certain age to feel the real soul of that music. God bless BB.

  • OMG!! That's a young BB King! By the way i'm 23 and love's BB's music.

  • not really... this is 2 years after the song was a hit. He is 46 years old in this video.

  • i like his suit!

  • A fantastic share from Bobby! Thank you both!

    Stars and hugs..Jan and Susan.x

  • Awesome song and artist! 5 *s--even more!

    Peace,

    Bobby

  • Funny how they have the live and studio guitar tracks going at the same time.

  • It's called really cheap treatment of BB King. Instead of treating him properly and getting him to play with his band, they simply played the f.....g record!!! and he just plays over it, as if he was at home practising by playing with his record. Very cheap treatment of a great artist.

  • A living legend 83 years old

  • this song reminds me of my girl im with now

  • Does anyone know what TV appearance this is from?

  • Probably from "Rolling on the River". That was a show that Kenny Rogers and the First Edition hosted back in the early 70s...
