  • This TV spot is for Ireland, whom voted on a different date (June 5) than in the UK (June 4). I thought the Irish rejected the EU constitution, one of 3 key nations along with the Netherlands & France to vote NO on the Lisbon treaty. The Irish had an isolated history before the two world wars, because foreign relations was dominated by Britain. The Irish Republic with the UK joined the EEC in 1973, but the two sides are more Euro-skeptic & the UK didn't adapt the Euro officially like Ireland. +

  • South of Italy is NOT Europe!!!

  • I live in Italy since 1991, when i was 7 years old. Today i cannot vote in my town, in my Region, in my State and i cannot vote for EU election.

So what does "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION" mean?

What does "UNEVEN DISTRIBUTION OF PAY AND SAY" mean?

  • Well if you ask the popular demand in 1945 France, I'm not sure it's the best. Democracy is good when it serves people's interest... which can be against people's will. I think that a bureaucracy led by discussion does better than nationalist populist politics. But you're right, things have changed since 45. EU democracy needs some symbolic feature. When you look at how people don't care about things that happen elsewhere in the union (language maybe), I'm not sure democracy would change things.
