Placing your feet just a few inches apart with the knees slightly bent , or soft, would be the best way to move the hips in figure 8s for maximum potential and grace. However, pregnant women need to stand with their feet wider for a more secure foundation, keeping in mind that their center of gravity has shifted and the purpose for these movements during pregnancy is to prepare their bodies for labor and delivery, learning moves they can actually labor with, and help them "feel" elegant.
Thanks for the feedback and I'm so happy you are enjoying the workout!
This DVD can also help you ease back into shape when you're ready to start exercising again in your new mom body. It will help you with your changing center of gravity and, as the hormone relaxin (responsible for loosening up joints and ligaments during pregnancy) slowly leaves your system.

Normally, during a dance, the figure 8 with the hips should be done with the legs together otherwise it doesn't look elegant.
