  • Looks like Thomas the engine needed some hard loving to get that bad boy to start <3~

  • what a noise! music to my ears!

  • @finghalllevelcrossin This vehicle left the railway yesterday. It had been out of traffic sometime after water got in the one of the heads. It wasn't scrapped though, it has gone to LH Group at Barton-under-Needwood to be re-engined and put to good use.

  • The C Range engines were an old design but well built and powered everything from air compressors for gang road drilling to standby generators for hospitals and outlying areas (the Falklands have a few). They were also used in boats and tracked vehicles. If you want to see a big V8 Rolls diesel engine, have a look in the Sentinel Steelman shunter. Good bit of kit. Rolls Royce built some good engines and I'm proud to have worked for the company.

  • What transmission does it have? Is it mechanical??

  • now is this a diesel or is it petrol?

  • @myfordescort This is a Rolls-Royce straight-8 diesel engine of 238hp

  • @pcgenius9 Thanks for the reply, I love all things trains and had never seen a shunter with a Rolls Royce before. I am impressed.

  • SUPERB!!!

  • omg Thomas Hill's at Kilnhurst classic days.ty for this posting
